5 Great (Painful) Quotes This Month

There have been lots of people drinking from the stupid fountain this month, and since YOUmoz is becoming my favorite place to vent, I thought I'd post some of my favorites:

"We're in a holding pattern." - From a potential client in the travel industry who's been internally debating whether to conduct any internet marketing for eight months now. I'm now listening for the crash when they run out of fuel.

"I think that's open to debate..." - From a developer at another firm when I pointed out that doing client-side redirects on every product link on their site was a bad thing, SEO-wise.

"We didn't see any sales from those links. Please take them down." - From a client regarding 2 links they received from high-profile sites in their industry. And yes, we did explain the SEO ramifications. And no, they didn't pay for the links. And no, I can't really go to those sites and say "Take down these links."

"Either We Kill Click Fraud or Click Fraud is Going to Kill the Online Ad Business." - Ken Miller regarding his new click fraud tool, which will probably cost 10x the cost of click fraud itself. Quick hint: Design a decent PPC campaign and chances are you won't be exposed to click fraud. Regardless, 'kill the online ad business'? Come on, man.

"It needs more babies, because women like babies." - OK, that's actually from a long time ago, but it deserves inclusion in any list of really silly statements.

OK, I'm done.
