Tips for Link Building for Mobile Sites
-
Hi,
I wondered if anyone had any tips and advice for link building for mobile sites.
Many thanks

Hi Catline,
Many thanks for your response.
I'm not quite sure what the purpose would be, with my limited knowledge of mobile SEO, I assumed that for the mobile site to rank well on mobile search results and outperform the desktop site on mobile I would need links to the site. Since posting and reading more I think my approach has changed, so I would rely on the rankings for the desktop site to be listed on mobile search results and then use a user-agent redirect to direct mobile users to the mobile site. If I understand correctly, I would use the canonical tag in the mobile page to point to the desktop version of the page. Then the desktop page should always outrank the mobile version...
Thanks

Hi Mark,
what would the purpose of those links be? As far as I know, mobile results are not that different from desktop results, except for the local results when a users allows for geo-location in his/her devices. In the near future Google might roll our a new form of SERPs that's specifically foo mobiles users, but in the past, mobile results have not been influenced by inbound links.
The only recommendation at this time is that you get those links from mobile website directories and similar sources.

Will an inbound follow link on a site be devalued by an inbound affiliate link on the same site?
Hey guys, quick question I didn't find an answer to online. Scenario: 1. Site A links to Site B. It's a natural, regular, follow-link 2. Site A joins Site B's affiliate program, and adds an affiliate link Question: Does the first, regular follow link get devalued by the second affiliate link? Cheers!

Transfer link juice from old to new site
Hi seomozzers, The design team is building a new website for one of our clients. My role is to make sure all the link juice is kept. My first question is, should I just make 301s or is there another technique to preserve all the link juice from the old to new site that I should be focusing on? Second Question is that ok to transfer link juice using dev urls like www.dev2.example.com (new site) or 182.3456.2333? or should I wait the creation of real urls to do link juice transfer? Thank you 🙂

How to remove bad link to your site?
Hello, Our website www.footballshirtblog.co.uk recently suffered a major Google penalty, wiping out 6 months of hard work. We went from getting 6000-10000 hits a day to absolutely nothing from Google. We have been baffled by the penalty as we couldn't think of anything we've done wrong. After some analysis of Open Site Explorer, it seems I may have found the answer. There is a ton of bad links pointing to us. A few example domains are: ru.gg/ gogopzh.com/ 0575bbs.com/ This is nothing to do with us and so I can only assume some competitor has done this. As we were only about 4-5 months old, I guess Google has punished us. What do we do now? This is not a situation I have experienced before and would really appreciate your expert advice.

Do you think video syndication is a good link building tactic?
I am creating a process & strategy for publishing videos and would like some feedback on if it is worth syndicating the videos on multiple third party sites either manually or via TubeMogul. Currently the plan is to put the video on our main site, create a video sitemap, submit to webmaster tools so that hopefully the videos on our site show up in the SERPs. Then wait a week and syndicate on third party sites such as youtube, vimeo, viddler, etc. Are there any negative side affects? My thinking is that some people may only see the video if it is on youtube and the other niche sites because they may search those sites for videos rather than Google/Bing. Your thoughts?
