Which URL structure holds the best SEO value?
-
Hello Community!
We are rewriting URLs to better rank and provide better visual usability to our visitors.
Would it be better to serve a URL that looks like this:
www.domain.com/category-subcategory
or
www.domain.com/category/subcategory
Please note the slight difference--the 2nd URL calls out a category that has a subcategory under it. Would it give us more value? Does it make a difference?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Andy. Much appreciated.

My own preference is to try and add folders as with the second option because for visuals, it is easier to see where you are.
In terms of SEO benefit, it is unlikely one will give you more than another. This will be predominately dominated by your content and paying attention to basics (Meta, etc.)

Some SEO 2016 questions
Hello MOZ Community, I have some questions where the following is still working for seo in 2016: Is an exact keyword in the domain still a good start? If a domain contains the most important keyword does one still need subfolders with that keyword in the url? Do you need multiple subpages so the main url becomes stronger? Is linkbuilding still the number one factor? Thank you for your thoughts!

URL Path to Store Article Library for SEO
What is the best URL structure for a domain to start adding a main directory for educational articles under? We want to find the best URL structure to keep articles under as a main, then category, then subcategory: For example, if my client is going after TWO SPECIFIC KEYWORD PHRASES as their primary (let's say they are KIDNEY DIALYSIS and CKD DIALYSIS, should they start building up their article library (for educational purposes as well as ranking/SEO), should they list it under which structure for the best SEO ranking opportunities: domain.com/KIDNEY-DIALYSIS/article1, article2, article3 domain.com/CKD-DIALYSIS/article1, article2, article3 domain.com/ARTICLES/article1, article2, article3 Both KIDNEY DIALYSIS and CKD DIALYSIS are critical phrases for them. Is it a waste of URL space to just have a home of domain.com/ARTICLES then build off that URL structure like: domain.com/articles/kidney-dialysis domain.com/articles/ckd-dialysis Thoughts? Ideas? Thank you!

Changed URL of all web pages to a new updated one - Keywords still pick the old URL
A month ago we updated our website and with that we created new URLs for each page. Under "On-Page", the keywords we put to check ranking on are still giving information on the old urls of our websites. Slowly, some new URLs are popping up. I'm wondering if there's a way I can manually make the keywords feedback information from the new urls.

Wordpress multisite and SEO
Newbie question. I have several keyword list I am trying to market - (My website is : http://www.soobumimphotography.com/) San Antonio wedding photographer, family photographer San Antonio sports photographer in san antonio headshot san antonio engagement photos san antonio I think it's too broad and thinking about getting separate sites for them. I know I can make urls something like this http://www.soobumimphotography.com/headshot using multisite function and planning to redirect it to www.sanantonioheadshots.com etc Is this good idea to do so? Should I get a new hosting and domain and start it all over again. Thank you

Do links hold there value after 12 months?
Hello, We need to find out if links that we setup, which are older than 12 months hold any value? Do new links hold more value than old ones and therefore should we let the old links become inactive? If we do let the links become inactive after 12month will that effect the PA/DA of the site?

Bit.ly URLs. Are they SEO Friendly?
Are URL shorteners like Bit.ly considered 301 redirects? I was thinking about using them for some longer URL's in press releases but i didn't want to loose any link juice through the service. Thanks for the info! - Kyle
