Adroll vs Adsense: Pro's and Cons
-
Hey everyone,
Do you prefer Adroll or Adsense and why?
What are some pros and cons of each?
-
I'm taking this as comparing Adroll vs. Adwords as an advertiser... if you mean as a publisher, then ignore my answer.
First, Adwords has all sorts of different display advertising, Adroll is all retargeting Advertising. I prefer Adwords because it's completely self-service, and I can see all the data and statistics for my placements. You can see a lot of stats in Adroll, but they don't display conversion stats in the interface for your specific placements. Also, with Remarketing Lists in Google Analytics, I can get pin-point remarketing based on custom events and goals within Google Analytics. You can duplicate a lot of this within Adroll, but it requires communicating everything with your reps.
With Adroll you'll get some reps who will help you optimize your campaigns, and with Adwords, if you don't already have reps, you'll be on your own. Adroll has a further reach than the Google Display Network, so your ads can reach other display networks, as well as Facebook.
Where I work, we use both to maximize our reach!

Guilty of keyword cannibalization. What's the best way to fix it without losing link juice?
Hi guys, I'm new here but I already spent hours reading the forums. I didn't post before because I didn't feel the need to, but today it's different. I don't want to take fixing steps that are not optimal for my website situation. So here's the problem : I am working on an affiliate website that is growing day after day and is already profitable. It is not by any mean a thin affiliate site. It's a french language website with product reviews on it. Right now there is 1 main page (hero page) per review in which I describe the products, put affiliate links, present useful information, etc. These pages have a good word count and I am targeting 1-2 main keywords on them which I consider a good practice. Couple of months ago I decided to add a product page for each one (normally it's 5 products per review) so I added 5 more page per review, targeting product names as new keywords. Problem is that : Product names are very similar to the main keywords (keyword cannibalization problem) There is very little added information on the product page when you compare it to the hero page (too thin) A lot of information is repeated on each of the product pages. I think this is bad. So I decided to keep only the hero pages to keep more link juice, avoid keyword cannibalization, improve page authority and get more content on one single page (only information that was not repeated have been added to hero page). I removed ALL THE LINKS to product pages (from the hero page). So now for my questions : Is it better to keep the product pages in my sitemap or to delete them right away? Is it better to let the product pages die by themselves over time or to 301 redirect all the product pages to hero page to keep link juice? The next question is a bit more complicated. Hope you guys understand what I mean. Considering that product pages are now gone, this will for sure weaken my bounce rate % because only hero page with good/deep information will be accessible to visitors (there is not a lot of internal links in each review, except to other, RELATED reviews). Is setting up goals in google analytics + telling google that it should consider a click on an affiliate link as a NEW PAGE VIEW (like it would act for a click on a link of a product on my own domain) will help for SERPs and SEO?? Or it will just help ME to see a lower bounce rate and setting goals? In other words, is tracking these links and let google see them as new pages clicks will help for the page rankings or not? Because from what I am understanding, a good bounce rate helps for rankings. If the changes made to avoid keyword cannibalization work, when could I potentially see the effects/benefits in the SERPs and trafic?

Before I request hundreds of links for "nofollow" I want to verify I'm doing the right thing
Happy Thanksgiving Mozers, In my efforts to get rid of a Google penalty, I've come to the conclusion that all the travel agents who link to our site with a unique code, are technically affiliates because they get commission. Therefore we need to get all of them to switch their links to "rel=nofollow". I'm worried this shift will cost us in search rankings, especially since none of our competitors require nofollow tags. So before I actually begin requiring the switch, I wanted to just double check that I'm not misinterpreting Google. Our travel agents are paid commission on every sale (whether their customers click the link from their website to ours, or calls in and gives us that agent's code. So even though our travel agents aren't technically part of an "affiliate program" run through CJ or anything, they are in Google's eyes affiliates of my company. Therefore their links with their personal codes all need to be nofollow. Am I correct on this? I can't find anywhere where Google goes into great depth explaining various types of affiliates.

New site started doing well, now it's tanking
Im confused by activity from a site I opened less than a month ago. I ranked in the top ten for the local version of my primary phrase. Within two weeks I was up to number two. I created a few new pages without content in order to build age. I also paid for a pair of clearly marked classified ads at trusted sites thatprovide traffic from potential clients. Next, I stated revamping my pages by revising and editing content. my site has dropped like a brick. My content is the best it's been and improving daily. Im not sure what to do. Should I start over? Do I keep improving my site and give it a few months? Would anyone be willing to review my site and provide a few tips? Fyi, I understand some of my pages need more content. my formatting is a mess with iOS 7 on iPad.

Amazon Niche Sites Or Adsense Niche Sites Or CPA Niche Sites for 2000$/month ?
Hello Seo Moz guys, I'm new in SEOMOZ Comunity but I have about 2 years experience in internet marketing. I build 5 websites with google adsense, all of them with about 50 articles, 1k+ backlinks, about 1$-1,5$ cpc, and in average 300 visitors per day. I monetize these sites only with google adsense. ( A LOT OF WORK I can say in manual way, I don't have automate or semi-automate tools for SEO-Link Building ) I didn't make more than 200$ per month and I want to make 2000$/month from online to be really happy. Can anyone suggest me a resource, a course, ANYTHING to improve my earnings? also, I want to change the business model from advertisements to affiliate marketing. I am in clickbank team and amazon asociates from 1 month and I didn't even make more than 30$ yet :)) Please please please, I want a good response, a respectable person to answer me 🙂 Thank you so much!

What is an 'Anchor Text' and does it have any SEO Benefit?
Hi - we have been building as SEO strategy but need clarification on what benefit 'anchor text' has for SEO rankings? For example - we have been creating links from external sites to ours, but the anchor text is not our main search term. I.E - the Anchor Text reads 'web design', but the ALT TAG reads 'web design birmingham'. Question is - if we wish to achieve maximum SEO rankings for the term 'web design birmingham', where should it appear....in the ALT TAG or the Annchor text'? Many thanks! Phil

Yahoo Directory VS other established sites
A fellow SEO consultant and I have been arguing the importance of listing on established well-known directories (Yahoo, DMOZ, etc) these days. He is convinced that the $299 listing on Yahoo is a worthy investment, while I think that advertising on high-ranking niche websites (in the form of purchased listing) are far more useful. When looking at Y!Directory, a lot of the links are placed on pages that have PA of 0 (these are very deep URLs, almost a dozen levels in). Does Yahoo Directory's DA of 100 help offset this low PA score? What if you could get a listing from a highly relevant niche site with a DA of 70+ and PA of 30+ for the same price? Obviously there are other likely benefits to links from relevant sites (such as real customer acquisition) but I would like to know from a pure SEO point of view - are links from directories like Yahoo's still worth the link?

What are your biggest focuses for Internet Marketing in 2012? New Year's Goal?
We have seen a lot of shifting and movement in the search engines as of late. So I am curious as to what people are setting their sights on for 2012. And perhaps a top 3 would be appreciated. This is Internet Marketing goals, therefore SEO, Social Media, PPC, all count. Link Building? Schema.org? Facebook optimization? And try to be a little more specific like URL rewrites instead of just On-Site SEO.
