Does posting on blogs with anchored backlinks do you any good?
-
My current strategy: I am ranking for keyword and site: Immigration Consultant
I access the Fresh Web Explorer and search my keyword, then find the blogposts with High Authority where I can post using HTML and include my link in my signature, or sometimes the post has a link associated with the username.
Now my question is this, does this count? will google even crawl the comments? can I aid the crawling process somehow?
Any advice on creating relavent back-links is much appreciated.
Thank you
Nikita -
I've checked out the link, and it seems like a good resource, but form 2010.
Things changed since then. From the Comments I read, I found this interesting:
"I prefer to combine do and no follow links... it looks natural for google, and a link pointing to my site is never worthless."
-
I see you figured it out.
Not all text blog editors allow HTML code, so you have to figure it out.
Also maybe get a chrome op firefox extension to see if the link is nofollow.
And Also - Dont forget to vary your Anchor text, as if it is all the same word over and over, google will get suspicious...
so in your case you can have something like:
SEO
SEO SERVICE
i5 Digital
Hertfordshire
SEO Service in Hertfordshire
etc. -
I can provide a domain, and share the Analytics with anyone if you would like to try.
I have quite a few parked not used, not doing anything, just laying around.
-
The reason I ask, is because I open Open Site Explorer and it has a nofollow link there from wikipedia.
So If it has it, it is registered, but yet it is a nofollow link.
-
We still get plenty of people trying to make link drops in here, and not everyone has a nofollow highlight on their browser or looks at the source code.
Sorry, I've asked for a copy of the algorithm so that I could know for sure, but nobody's given that to me yet, and I haven't done enough independent testing to know what the search engines think.
As a moderator, I will sometimes still remove hyperlinks even if it is nofollow, just because it looks spammy to users and distracts from the flow of the discussion in Q&A or the blog.
-
Thank you, Im pretty aware of that, and this gives as great practice grounds to discover and learn about SEO.
This is what is so great about this Forum, you can have armatures and pros all in one place!
As we are still on this topic, Keri, you wouldn't happen to know if NoFollow links are at all valued by search engines, or are they just as good as plain text?
-
Just an FYI, all the links in Q&A are also nofollow.

That is great, many many thanks!!!

You may want to correct your link from:
to
User: Toldham
You have a clear Anchor text.
So it looks like this:
User: Toldham
Ideally you would put your desired keyword in the Anchor... sosomething like:
i5 Digital - SEO Marketing Service in Hertfordshirei5 Digital - SEO Marketing Service in Hertfordshire
-
Sounds like we need to do a crowd source test! Someone get a domain, and let's start hitting it with blog comments to see what happens!
-
how did you manage to get that link live in there?
-
I think you are right, if you can manage to get yourself a few links, they are all no follow from sites such as this, but they will definitely help to improve the trust factor of you site... i think lol
-
I know, Right?
I just want to know how much effect it makes
The NOfollow probably does not do much.
-
-
I am also slightly lost with acceptable blog commenting etc.
I often see the users profile on blog site, acts as a link back to the original website
e.g. User: Toldham
-
So, How many is too many?
-
against you simply means that too many links from the blog comment give hint to Google that you are building low quality links which might take you to the area where Google penguin take websites in consideration ... and you know the rest!
-
Thank you for your reply,
I left links to my site in Wikipedia on my targeted keyword (all with good quality info) and they wiki states the fact that the links are NoFollow. - At the same time I heard that even no follow links give you credit as to the "Domain" authority.
Also: I can only join a few forums that I can helpfully contribute to: will having 100's of links from one domain harm me in any way? I mean I would reply to posts with my link in my signature.
-
Sorry, could you help me with what you mean by working against me?
I ussually sign off like this:
Nikita - Immigration Lawyerwith the link in my targeted keyword - I change the Keyword as often as I can but use "immigration consultant" about 40-50% of the time, and rarely I have only the link as in
-
Thanks: To clarify I am only Leaving comments not a Guest Blogger.
-
I think you are talking about adding a comment with a keyword in the name section and your desired page in the URL section...
As far as Google is concern, according to the latest information Google does crawl comments so it is good to add relevant and valuable comments and 1 out of 10 comment can be anchored but do not over do it or else you will find this technique will started to work against you!
-
If you are leaving comments on these blogs with your web address, I would think that the answer would be " Possible but not in the way that you think"
Most bloggers have code in their html that tell the Google spiders to " not follow" the links in their comments section. They do this in a attempt to keep spammers from stuffing their comment section with links when they are not actually bringing value to the discussion. So, you will not get boost in the SERPs due to link juice.
But do not lose hope. If you are an active part in the blogging community and you give good advice and bring relevant comments. People will in inadvertently check you out and your website. Sometimes they will even approach you to solve a solution. I was told some good advice here one time " Never join an online community for the link juice. Join it because you enjoy it and you want to be apart of the community."
If you are guest blogging, this may be a different case...
Hope this was helpful,
C

I'm a little confused. Are you guest blogging or leaving comments on a blog?

HI, I wrote an article for photography life over 6 months ago and was surprised to discover it is placed second in the serps for the keywords "nikon cls" I have just written another 1500 word article for another photography blog and I am wondering if I will serve myself better just writing the content for my own site? Best wishes. David.

Should I remove backlink from templated page?
Hi, I manage 2 websites; website A and website B. Both websites are hosted on the same webserver. Website A is significantly more established than Website B with a better domain authority and much netter keyword rankings. I have a backlink from website A to Website B. The link is do-follow and is in a sidebar template that appears on just about every page of website A. Also, this template is used in nearly all of the subdomains of website A for a total of 1,362 pages. It occurs to me that Google might see this as unnatural. I am considering removing this link from the template and adding it to the content of the landing page so that we have only one link from Website A to Website B. It seems rational to me but I'd like a second opinion, please. Thanks in advance.

We had a blog that has been inactive since 2011\. Now since the website is redesigned and we are working on link building, is it advisable to use the old blog content in the new blog?
The content of the old blog belongs to the company, hence no issues of copied content. The options I have are: 1. Use old content as is 2. Re-use old content in more interesting format i.e use info-graphics and the likes 3. Do not use any of the old content. Create new content

I would like to ask i have found on blog: "Forum posting is an important effective SEO Link Building Method to getting quality traffic and quality back links to your website. Learn here about forum posting basics, advices and guidelines." Is it true? Forum posting with backlink to my website can help me to rank better? I mean posting on the related forum website?

Post Penguin Blog Commenting Links
I have heard a few different things, and I am still not quite clear. Regarding blog commenting, what is the preferred way to do it now? Should the text that is hyperlinked just be our main website name written out http://www.example.com? Is anchor text the text that is hyperlinked? And should the link always go to our home page, or should it go to whatever page we are commenting about. Is blog commenting still good to do post penguin?

Backlink reports in OSE, the good and the bad!
Hi all Mozers, I have a couple of questions re the backlink reports in Open Site Explorer. In the introductory video Rand suggests that you can indentify backlinks that are a) Having a positive effect, and b) Having a negative effect on SEO campaigns. Do you identify such links using the domain/page authority of the linking page? Also, we know we have more links than OSE is reporting, does this mean that the links that are not reported are not helping our SEO campaign? Many thanks in advance, much appreciated. Lee
