How to get the total external links to a page and total external links to the domain using Mozscape API? I could not see an option in the bit flags
-
Hi,
I was trying to get the data for total external links to a page and total external links to the domain using Mozscape API but I can't see a bit flag which can do that. There are bit flags for external followed links to a page and external followed links to a domain but I wanted the total external links data, is there a way to do that using Mozscape API else I would end up copying the data manually from OSE which would be cumbersome and time consuming.
Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks for the email id! I will drop a mail. I would update the thread as soon as I get a response. Appreciate your response :).

Gotcha, looks like Mozscape doesn't provide "just" internal or nofollowed for a subdomain. Too bad. Perhaps someone from SEOmoz will notice this post and respond with whether or not they can provide that information via API. Otherwise, you might want to drop them a line at [email protected].
Good luck, looks like you are working the API to the bone!

Thanks again George!
The formula in your response would give me external nofollowed links + internal links to the subdomain. I wanted to have Total External links (followed + nofollowed) linking to the subdomain. Though this value is visible in the comparison metrics of OSE under subdomain metrics, it does not seem to have a bit flag defined in Mozscape and I was trying to find a work around by adding/substracting the URL metrics parameters but the data seems to be insufficient to do that. Still digging in to this to find a solution else at the end I would have to manually plugin the data in excel sheets which would be a pain.
I am using JsonpathonURL to get these metrics in excel sheet.

Ah ok, do you think Links to Subdomain (bit flag value:4294967296 - Total links (including internal and nofollow links) to the subdomain of the URL) minus the Subdomain External Links (bit flag value:64 - The number of juice-passing external links to the subdomain of the URL) will give you the number of NoFollowed links?
Edit: updated second bit flag

Thanks for the response George!
I was looking at the metrics page earlier. My problem is related to the total external links to a page and total external links to a subdomain. I am able to set the bit flags and get the external followed links to a page as well as to the subdomain but I want to find out if I can get the total external links (followed + nofollowed) excluding the internal links. I was able to find the external links to a page using the formula:
Total Link (uid 2048) - Juice Passing links (ujid 256) = NoFollowed Links
NoFollowed Links + External Links (ueid 32) = Total external links
But I cant do this for Total external links to the subdomain. I know its a bit complicated but I hope you got the picture

Hello HQP,
You should be able to find this information here: http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/url-metrics.
The total juice-passing (followed) external links to a page should have a bit flag value of 32.
The total juice-passing (followed) external links to a root domain should have a bit flag value of 128.
You can also get the total juice-passing (internal or external) links to a page with a bit flag value of 256.
Hope this helps!

Canonical URLs all show trailing slash on main site pages - using Yoast SEO for Wordpress - how to correct
We are using Yoast for a number of our sites. We use naked domain as the canonical. I have noticed in the header tags that all our sites show the canonical URLs as having a trailing slash: Example: http;//foxspizzajc.com, when I look at the source code, it shows the canonical as http;//foxspizzajc.com/ Of course, it is much more likely that all sites that link to us will not use the trailing slash - so preferably we do not want that to be the canonical - among other reasons. Does this need to be fixed so the trailing slash is removed? I cannot see how to do this in Yoast SEO or in Permalinks structure for Wordpress. Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks for any help.

Mozscape API Problem With Credentials
Yello everyone 🙂 Yesterday I generated Access ID and Secret Key to try the API, but it didn't work. It's said that it might need 5 minutes, so I gave it something like 8 hours but it still didn't work afterwards. I used the PHP sample and I checked it with the Sample Expires value and it produces the same Signature parameter as in the Sample Valid API Signature, so the PHP code sample and the Sample Valid API Signature are in sync. In case you wonder - yes I changed the PHP sample by adding the valid strings for $accessID and $secretKey - I'm a long time programmer and I know what I'm doing with it. I tried also the example URL from Sample Valid API Signature couple of times, refreshing each time to get new Expire parameter, but it's not working too. Both the PHP sample and the Sample Valid API Signature are giving me this: **{ "status" : "401", "error_message" : "Your authentication failed. Check your authentication details and try again. For more information on signed authentication, see: http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/w/page/29574176/SignedAuthentication" }** I am new here and if there is another place to look for support please just point it out and excuse me for wasting your time - I just couldn't see it and I really tried. Is there a way to get the domain authority of a subdomain?
For example, www.storage-mart.com and us.storage-mart.com both show the same DA in OSE. I believe it's the DA of the root domain. How can I compare the DA of the 'www' and 'us' subdomains?

Need to find all pages that link to list of pages/pdf's
I know I can do this in OSE page by page, but is there a way I can do this in a large batch? There are 200+ PDF's that I need to figure out what pages (if any) link to the PDF. I'd rather not do this page by page, but rather copy-paste the entire list of pages I'm looking for. Any tools you know of that can do this?
