How Have You Got More Likes On Google +?
-
Hi All,
My company has done fairly well with regards to achieving followings on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. BUT one that we REALLY struggle to get a following on is Google +.
We have about 25 Google + followers, compared to 1.2k Facebook likes and over 2k Twitter followers. We do relatively similar things on each of these.
What can we do to increase our following specifically on Google +? As it stands we do pretty similar things, it would just appear that there's not much taste for us on Google +!
What kind of things have you guys done to boost your followings on Google +.? All suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,
Sorry for the late response. If I had to guess...I would look into a after-market shops (Fast and Furious type places) and car clubs. I could see those places having a good following...but, you're right, Joe's Automotive Repair...not so much.

Hi Sam,
It shouldn't take you very long to get your personal account working for you - it took me just a couple of weeks.
Good luck,

Hi Amelia,
Thanks for this response.
I definitely agree that it seems to be just us SEO's out there on Google +, which would be great if my business was a digital agency - I just wish more automotive focused clients would get on there!
From this, I think our business needs to look a bit more outside of the box and look for companies that are somewhat relevant to our business although not directly competing in an attempt to get our content out there.
Great idea, I should really start working on my own Google + following so i can use it as a tool to promote my companies ideas too.

Hi Ruben,
Thanks for your response.
It would so far appear that our target audience are not particularly heavy Google + users. That being said, with it being the automotive industry that my company works in, this should mean that our customer base are very versatile (as almost everyone owns a car) and should therefore include at least some types of people that are Google + users.
So you're suggesting to reach out to other business owners in attempts to get our content out there? this isn't something that we've tried as such so far, although definitely something I will now look into. I think the trouble will be finding these businesses which have a Google + following that is worth pushing.

Thanks for your response, Bruce. It's very interesting to see how Google search results changes for users based on their Google + account behaviour.
We do post (probably not as much as on Facebook and Twitter) regularly, but it always feels as though its falling on deaf ears, probably due to our lack of followers.
Is there no way to kickstart a Google + page? for example, with Facebook you could do some paid advertising to get an initial following or on Twitter you could do a competition (standard retweet this and win this kind of deal), but what can you do on Google +?

I was going to say pretty much the same thing: most people on google+ are there because of SEO. They are not there to connect with other people (I say this in the broadest possible sense), they are there to promote their business. The idea of sharing other company's posts is a pretty good one, just be careful not to share something by a direct competitor. And stick to your niche as much as possible - the company I work for is a mortgage broker, so I share stuff from estate agents, conveyancers, housing lawyers etc - never a competing company!
I would also say, use your personal account to share as well. I get far more reshares by using my personal account than when I share via our company page.
Hope this helps,
Amelia

Well, a lot depends on your target market. For example, potential clients in our service area do not use google + for anything socially related. Most of the users - though certainly not all - are business owners or marketers trying to use it for SEO purposes (right or wrong as that strategy may be). If you are in a similar situation, then your best bet would be to reach out to other business owners that do not compete with you and start spreading their content. At least some will reciprocate, though if that doesn't happen, you can always follow up with them more directly. We've had limited success with this, but if your area has a more google+ friendly crowd or a different demographic, then it might be worth looking into.
Good luck!

Google Plus arrived after the party started, but is very important to validate customer engagement.
Post content on Google + and keep it regular, share content from your site to Google Plus too. Like facebook, it takes time and patience to build the level of likes.
Build your circles too and share content. Be aware of C Blocks in general and also for Google Plus, don't just get your work colleagues to all click google plus, as these start to not count from the same building or location.
Google will rank these posts and share very highly to other Logged in Google users, and they will also carry some rank on generic search too
Just a few thoughts
Bruce

I understand Authorship is Dead, but here's a question on the Google+ Profile
I guest write for some blogs, as well as several blogs I manage myself. What is the correct usage of the "Contributor to" field and the "Links" field? Contributor to: The overall blog itself and; Links: To individual blog posts themselves? Or the reverse? Thank you!

Need strategies to transfer Google+ circles from a personal Google+ page to a business Google+ page
Hello Mozers Is there a way I can copy or capture my circles from my personal Google+ account and copy and paste or send them to my business Google+ account? Do I have to reinvite from my business account and have them add or follow me again via my business account? Any strategies for transferring over circles would be much appreciated Thanks!

Counting unique landing pages in Google Analytics: social vs organic channels
Remember the technique Rand posted for counting the unique indexed landing pages on a site? http://moz.com/blog/indexation-for-seo-real-numbers-in-5-easy-steps I'm using Google Analytics to compare this result for the "social" channel vs. the "organic search" channel. The idea is to see whether social or search delivers people to more unique landing pages. I would expect organic search to yield a significantly higher count, due to long tail searches for relatively obscure terms. We have an archive of over 500k pages that Google could be indexing, even if only a fraction of a percent of those might be getting social mentions. But that's not what the numbers show -- I'm seeing roughly 10% higher numbers for the Social channel than for Organic Search. Again, I'm counting unique landing pages here, not the total pageviews or visits. If anyone else here is monitoring these metrics, please chime in with your results. What's the baseline expectation for a large website with hundreds of thousands of pages of issue-centric user-generated content? Should search traffic provide 2x more landing page exposures than social? 5x? 10x? or 0.9x, as in my case? In short, I believe these numbers are pointing to an indexing/ranking problem following a recent site redesign.

Google+ buttom
Hello everybody 🙂 Is it possible to implement a Google+ button where if you press on it, it gives a particular Google+ page a plus? Because as I can see, it is only possible to implement a Google+ button, which when you pressed the'll give the given page/post you are on a plus. For example, I added a Google+ button in the footer here http://guard.dk/services/event-natklub-sikkerhed/ (see here: http://screencast.com/t/a045Uen7KEVO). But if you press it, you give just the page you are on a plus. But I'd like to see you give the website Google+ page: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+GuardISSkanderborg/posts a plus. That means that Google+ page then will have 32 pluses. It should act in exactly the same way as the Facebook like next to the Google+ button. Hope there is someone who understands what I mean, and can help.

Is it possible to Merge a Google+ Page with Google Places/local Page on G+
I have seem to have a problem (well think its a problem!) We have a google+ page for our website/ brand (which is verified) and also seem to have a separate google places G+ page (the one with just two tabs at the top.. Photos and About). When you google our brand, google has added a google+ page link but this links to the places one and not our social g+ page. Is it possible to merge these two pages into one? ps i have added rel="publisher" directing to the main google+ page (not local) on the home page and the local G+ page is not verified. Ben

Google Authorship Not Working
I've had problems with google authorship. I always check to make sure the snippet tool is reporting correctly but my picture appears some weeks and disappears others. I've changed my picture to make it a more recognizable headshot like some posts and blogs suggested. Is anyone else having this problem? My website is www.x4dc.com

How fast to post content to Google+
If an established publisher gets started on Google+, is it better to post one or two things a day like a real person would, or is it okay to do a "data dump" and post a ton of articles at once? Does it matter if the account is a brand or personal page? Thanks.

Are there tools like followerwonk / wefollow for blogs?
We are looking for a way to quickly find blogs for a particular keyword that have a high number of subscribers / followers. Is there a tool that can do this? A blog equivalent of followerwonk / wefollow would be ideal.
