Is pagerank still a ranking factor for Google?
-
Hello Friends,
Just want to confirm that the announcement by Google officials for no more pagerank update (Oct 14) is only for the Google toolbar update but pagerank still exists and still a ranking factor for Google?
http://searchengineland.com/google-toolbar-pagerank-finally-officially-dead-205277
Please help.
Regards

Good point Eric! But the number AND quality of links still matter - even if it isn't called PageRank. Just clarifying that link authority and relevancy is being passed from one site to another...
-
Google may still be using something related to PageRank or may still be using PageRank internally. They may use it for determining which pages to crawl first--and which ones to crawl less often.
However, publicly there is no PageRank data available, and it's not going to be updated in the future. So, we can consider it dead at this time.

Google pagerank is probably still a ranking factor (not as important as it once was) however the public version of Page Rank, what you and me sees will never be updated again, last update if memory serves me well Dec 2013, but they will still be updating their version of pagerank - but as AI becomes more and more intelligent, traditional signals will disappear.
Moz DA and PA would be a better metric to use these days as thats still updated (monthly) and you can see whats impacting the score.

Defunct would be a good way to describe Pagerank. Once a ranking signal but now no more. Domain Authority is a good way to measure your ability to rank. However, SEO's law of mystery means that no indicator will apply accurately in every circumstance.

Yes it is not a ranking factor, i'm sure they have an internal system but nothing that is published. The last pagerank update was a bit of a mistake as i recall so don't use it as a signal.
Moz, Ahref & majestic have a good rough idea of a prediction of how things will rank but no one will ever know for sure what makes google's special sauce for rankings.

Keyword rankings and main company tagline not matching
I have a question about keywords rankings and on page keywords. I don't rank very well for the keyword "Nutcracker". But, my tag line is "Your one stop Nutcracker and Ballet Gifts source". One of my most important keywords is "Nutcrackers" (see the s 😉 ) and I hot hit really hard in my rankings with the google algorithm update. Almost a 30 position difference from one day to the next. Am I shooting myself in the foot by having Nutcracker being in the forefront, even though my chances of ranking for that are very low as there is high competition with more actual "The Nutcracker" related content. I do have the word "nutcrackers" on my home page...but all of a sudden I feel like i'm wasting space, or I should have made the tagline "Your one stop Nutcrackers and Ballet Gifts source". It just doesn't sound as good. I just recently dove headfirst into SEO and moz, so I consider myself a noob, but I learn quite quickly. Thank you for your help! Creating a campaign and connecting it to Google Analytics
I want to create three campaigns in Moz and connect them to my Google Analytics account. However, two of the domains I am trying to create campaigns for are joined in Google Analytics. Do I need to separate the two in Google in order to create separate campaigns for each in Moz?

Rank Report Not Updating
The ranking tool indicates that a new rank report will be generated every Tuesday. My last report was on November 15th. It is now November 25th. It missed last week. Should I report something wrong or is this normal? How do I keep it updating on a weekly basis like it's supposed to? I checked in settings to see if I had done anything wrong and couldn't find anything. Regards, Dino

Why did the crawl last night not show the same results i see in google?
Last night my keywords were crawled and it shows me that a key word is ranked 14. For 3 days now it has been rank 4 or 5. Is there a reason this is not accurate? I have not checked the rest of my keywords so i am not sure about those. Thanks

Why does SEOMoz Pro only do Rankings Once a Week?
Not sure I understand why the SEOMoz PRO report of rankings only occurs once a week? Any ideas? Seems like it would be easy to just pull that ranking report at any time.

Which Google API do you use to creat a rank checking tool?
I can't seem to work this one out. Basically I want to make a very simple rank checker tool something similar to http://www.mikes-marketing-tools.com/ranking-reports/ where a user simply type in a domain and a keyword and in return is shown the position within the results. The problem is I can’t work out which API's I need in order to build it, does anyone know what I need to poke about with? It must work with Google and ideally with Bing and the rest
