Competitor analysis, why they rank so much better [ecommerce/Magento]
-
For a Dutch e-commerce website, we're having some issuse being found & ranked on important keywords. I have done a detailed view into the content & technical part (html) of our website and a competitor's site.
Our site is www.hond.nl (hond is the Dutcn noun dog, the best domain we could get)
Competitor: www.obobo.nl (no meaning at all)For searches for instance by dogfood (Dutch: "hondenvoer") we rank really bad while our competitor ranks really well. I've gone trouch the moz-tools intensively but can't figure out why. We got more content, more self-written texts, more incoming root-domain links etc.
Any ideas were we could get a solution?
Seems that our Splash pages are doing "ok" but especially Category pages are listing badly.

Sorry! It may be that your IP address is not allowed to access our site. We had an issue with spam a while back that made us have to turn up security a bit.
If you PM me your email address, I will send a PDF directly there.

For the hondenvoer keyword, it looks like you both have well-optimized pages for that, but your competitor www.obobo.nl has external links going directly to their www.obobo.nl/honden/hondenvoer.html page and your www.hond.nl/hondenvoer.html does not have any external links directed to it. While it's always hard to say for sure, those external links could be making the difference in your competitor's favor and might be a good place to start.
I took a peek at your account and does look like you are outranking your competitors on many other keywords - cheers to that!

@David-Kley, your website is unreachable for me!

I would do a full competitve analysis of your site vs theirs. If you are seeing that much of a ranking difference, most likely there is something you are missing. A few months ago we wrote an article on how to do a full competitive link analysis. Might help you getting started.

Does Moz register backlinks from Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn?
I've noticed that on sites with decent social presence and regular content posts that Moz isn't showing/recording any inbound links from Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. Posts are regularly shared via these three channels but no inbound links ever seem to show up. Does Moz not record such inbound links, or are they all disguised using JavaScript or some other trick?

Help needed interpreting inbound link analysis please
Hi I am trying to determine how effective our store blog is and am trying to analyse the inbound links it provides to our store domain but am confused with the results, can anyone help please? For information the blog is on a subdomain of the store site, has plenty of relevant original content, and has been regularly updated over several years in line with basic Yoast SEO best practice. When I look at analysis of inbound links and linking domains for the store site in Moz Pro, the blog subdomain does not show as providing any inbound links. Google Search Console shows similar results, with no inbound links to the store domain showing from the blog subdomain in either 'search traffic > links to your site', or 'search traffic > inbound links'. Open Site Explorer for the store domain also shows no inbound links from the blog subdomain to the store with 'link source > only external' selected. But if I change to 'link source > only internal' then all of the inbound links from the blog subdomain to the main store that I would expect to see appear. Should I be concerned by the fact I can only find these inbound links under this one specific search and not in any of the others? Does this suggest a problem in the passing of any current and future SEO benefit from subdomain blog to main domain? Or should I not worry about it too much? I am looking to begin a full overhaul of all SEO for the store and blog from the ground up and want to be sure the connections between the blog subdomain and store are functioning properly before I start. Any help in unpicking this would be really appreciated Thanks very much

"Https://" version of my home page has PA of 39, while the "https://www" version has a PA of 43?
Why would the "https://" version of my home page have a PA of 39, while the "https://www" version has a PA of 43? Is Google seeing this page as two different pages? I'm seeing different linking domains to each. What can I do to unify the two? There is already a 301 redirect in place.
