Blog Posts Not Getting Indexed by SERP's
-
Our blog posts are typically indexed rather quickly, sometimes within 10 minutes or so. Lately it seems like it is taking much longer, and a post from yesterday afternoon isn't appearing in any of the search engines. Can anyone give me an idea why this may be happening?

It kept hitting quantcast and others that go away too soon for me to see. And I tried again and audio that sounded like a radio commercial was playing after about 1 minute having your page open.
-
Darryl, thanks, I changed the frequencies, now let's see if the Goog abides.
-
Hey Ryan, not sure what's happening, what do you mean by "constant pinging of servers." Also, there is no audio loading anywhere on our site, can you provide some more detail?
Thanks!

Just a thought, I looked at your sitemap and see that the frequencies are set to Daily (for home page)
Maybe try change the update frequency of the home page to Hourly for Home Page and Daily for Posts?

I saw your post indexed now for the search phrase "denver 2011 parade of homes".
I was going to take a deeper look at your code but your page was doing something weird that involved constant pinging of one or more servers. There was also auto-loading audio, so I closed the tab. If other web-browsers act like me, you may be losing visitors that way, and Google may be lowering your rank for slow loading times.

Why is the blog link so often found in the footer?
Hello, Can someone tell me please why are the links to a site's blog not displayed prominently? Why are they hidden away in the footer? Wouldn't making the link to the blog more visible increase traffic?

Should corporate blog sit outside a corporate website?
Hi guys (& gals) We are in the midst of revamping our own agency website and i used to have blog site that talks about agency's thoughts and elaboration on process etc. I personally feel it could be better to consolidate these content into my agency's url since it will create better relevances and thus improve my DA. Appreciate if i have some feedback if my thoughts are on the right track with the community? J

My keywords have low search volume - is it still worth starting a blog?
I'm thinking of starting a new blog, but when I did my keyword research I found that my keywords all have low search volume (under 100 searches per month, with the occasional keyword having 480 searches a month). Is this a deal breaker? Any recommendations would be great - thanks everyone!

Should i 301 redirect my blog to the respective site or just 404 all the blog pages?
Hi guys, We plan to close down our blog, which is a subdomain to our anchor site. I need advice on how to keep the link juice and its SEO value. Is it better to 301 redirect the blog to the homepage of our site, or just 404 all the pages of the blog? Thanks

Is it important to stick to a schedule when posting blogs?
I was watching the Mozinar titled: "From Nothing to Expert: How to Blog like You Mean It" and Tanner mentions that he does not stick to a schedule when posting blogs. There will be days or even a week go by where he does not post anything because he has not found a topic worth writing about. I was under the impression that it was important to post blogs at the same time everyday, or on the same day every week. Does sticking to a regimented schedule not have benefits anymore? Are there any negative or positive effects of sticking to a schedule?

Can you help me with my options on publishing others' news releases on my site?
I wish to add a "News" section to a highly-read, highly ranked blog I have. The News pieces will not be in the same flow as my regular posts. I'm contemplating what the best way to do this is, and would like some advice, please. I see these options: Option 1. Pay textbroker type people to rewrite news releases and post them into the news flow. Pro: indexable content. Con: expense. Option 2: Have a Submit News form on the site for vendors to submit their news stories. I would have to ask them to rewrite their stories to avoid dup content. Pros: Easy for me, no cost. Cons: Will still get dup content I bet, a lot of companies won't take the time to do it, and I will have no control over quality. (I really doubt this option will work). Option 3: Post news releases from companies in their raw format, and mark them as no index (even if I don't noindex, they won't move up the SERPs anyway, so why not just noindex them). Pros: very easy, all the news I want. Cons: not creating any indexable content. Bonus question: If I do Option #3, and I place an adsense ad on the page, will it work the same as if it was an indexed, non-duplicate content page? Your thoughts?

Question - Hidden Content via 'Read More;'
Hi, Does having text in hidden areas (that are expandable with a button) harm their value in SEO? E.g. there are 'read more' areas on the homepage of this site that have content that is not accessible otherwise. Does this content have the same weight when it is hidden versus if this whole area was visible? http://goo.gl/QQvAZ

Blogging Software Compatible with asp.net server?
I’m in the works of setting up a company blog right now but I’m struggling to find a great blogging software (preferably free). I’d like to keep the blog in a folder, so energyacuity.com/blog, but I’ve been told I need to find a blogging service that is compatible with asp.net so we can download it (?) to our server…meaning wordpress is out of the question. Does anyone have any recommendations?
