Link Building Strategy Advice
-
Hi,
I was wondering what everyone's general strategy is for link building. We're doing it all ourselves manually (i.e. not paying $5 for 100,000 links) and are using the Site Explorer tool to find links to competitors and related websites.
The majority of sites are blogs and directories which ask for payment ($50 per month for example). We're obviously looking for free links as well but we're finding that pretty much every site wants something in return (cash or reciprocal link) - unless the content is amazing, why would anyone link to another site without an incentive?
We're focussing heavily on content and writing articles, blogs, press releases every week but the subject matter isn't always exciting enough for someone to really want to link to it naturally.
Thoughts?

I use WordTracker (You can signup for a free trial) - it lets you type in your domain, competitor domains, and viola - shows you who is linking to where - where you could possibly get links etc. Very helpful tool. I think it would work well in your case because SOMEONE is linking to "boring" content - and having this sort of visibility allows you to see where the story makers are coming from.

B2B E-Commerce Link Building Strategy
Hello all! I was curious if anyone has had any success with a B2B E-Commerce Link Building Campaign or has any tips or ideas they would like to share? My customer base is very specific so up to this point it has been a little difficult trying to get customers and brands to link to a distributors' e-commerce site. Thanks!!

Links I am not Building?
Hi All, I check webmaster multiple times on a daily basis, and I noticed some links that I have not worked on and look a bit spammy, is it possible for people to purposely pont bad links in my direction? If that is the case is there a way for me to remove them myself? Also the number of total backlinks are very different in Webmaster and my Open Site Explorer, is this normal? Thanks again !

Link Building - Where to start and how long to see results
Been working a lot on on-page seo and it mistifies me to observe that when i get A's constantly for search terms for on page but im not on the first 10 pages of Google compared to a competitor on page 1 with on page reports of C, D and even E! So, a lot of hard work "on page" does not equal to a lot of hard work which is obviously link building. my domain and page authority is only 18 and 27 whereas the main competitors are 50's and 60's. Is "link building" or lack of it my main issue? Here is the site http://www.govisitthelakes.com Very new to link building 😞 Anyone know a good place to start? Ive been working through open site explorer and starting to get some of my competitors links. How long to see results from link building to improve domain and page authority? or is it just "how long is a piece of string" and be patient. Thanks Ouji

How do I build links for an Auto Detailing Company?
How do I go about building links for my website www.capitolshine.com Are there places I don't want to have my links? How do I know? How do I reciprocate? Where would I put a link on my website without looking like I'm just selling out to anybody who asks? And how do I actually put the links on my site? Do I need a separate page?

Link Building in non-competitive industry
Hello, My client's home page is targething 2 keywords - one at 43% difficulty (SEOMoz Keyword Difficulty Tool) and one at 50% difficulty. I want to link build for this person, but I analyzed the top 5 competitors and there is no resource section on any of the sites. We want to write 20 articles for our site. So there's no people linking to content that I can find. This messes up my link building because I always make targeted content on the subject that people are already linking to How do I link build in this case. Nothing stands out as something I could do with my site for link bait. Thanks!

Any Tips for Link Building for Boring Topics/Businesses?
I have a number of clients that own businesses in 'boring' sectors, such as: Toxic Waste Removal Steel Erecting Household Plumbing (Boilers, etc...) Link building for these sites is quite difficult. Creating compelling content and 'link bait' is particularly tricky. I found a good post from Michael Gray on the subject, but I don't think food (or McDonalds in this case)is a particularly difficult subject to write about. Any more tips on how to approach this would be appreciated. Thanks
