Metrics for guest posting
-
I have couple blogs willing to publish an article with a backlink to my site. I want to compare them. What SEO metric is the best to use for comparison: Domain Authority or Domain Domain Mozrank or DomainTrust? I want to choose a blog that will give me the most linkjuice
-
For counting them I would use Open Site Explorer, but you can also use Majestic SEO. David makes a good point about how "spammy" the site may/may not be, albeit this is a bit more subjective a call. So if the PA is one, then by all means look at DA, but also look at the site overall. Which do you think will give you more bang.
BTW - What type of blog? What vertical? (U don't have to name it, just in general).
-
I look at who the site links to in side bar etc and that its not a spammy site then DA and if i think ill get click thru traffic.
-
Thank you Robert. Yes, of course I understand that PA is more important than DA, however a new blogpost is posted on a new page where PA is 1.
Thanks for the advise about the number of links. Is there any tool that counts them automatically?
-
You will want Page and not domain. You would also want a page that has the fewest links on it. So, a page with a PA of say 40 with ten links will not give as much juice as a page with PA of 20 and only two links. (for those of you that are looking at this deeply, I am being basic). Another factor would be if any of the links leaving the page were noFollow, but for your question this is a good simple explanation.
So, if one site is handing out links like candy and the other is more prudent, but both are close in PA from the linking page, I would go with prudent. But, you could always go with both....

Tracing Performance of Individual Social Media Posts
Hello Moz community, I have an Analytics question. Is there a way (using the social media APIs or otherwise) to track performance of individual social media posts to generate monthly reports? We list lawyers on our directories for people to find. We also share the lawyer's information on our social media posts. I'd like to be able to generate a monthly report letting the lawyers know what we've done for them on social media pages. I'm thinking....we can identify a social media post by the URL inside the text of the post (IF URL_Inside_Page =Lawyer-Profile-Page_URL Then). I'd like to see numbers like: Facebook post clicks (combined) Facebook post likes (combined) Facebook post views (combined) Twitter post views (combined) Twitter post clicks (combined) Thank you

Ecommerce, Product Content & Google Metrics
Hi I know Google has many different variations of what they consider to be thin content. I wondered if anyone has an idea of the best metric to determine what content you need to improve on your site? I work on a large e-commerce site so there are a thousands of product pages - all with product descriptions similar [but not duplicate] to competitors. I guess in terms of quantity, these pages don't have huge amounts of written content, so I'm wondering what Google classes as 'thin' on a product page: 1. Does Google just expect a conversion to deem that product page useful? And if not, what's the best metric to identify what works vs. what doesn't on product pages in Google's eyes. 2. If adding lots of product pages on mass is bad and will decrease overall authority? The content isn't duplicate, but may be fairly similar to other sites selling the same thing. I'm trying to get our reviews added directly to product pages rather than in a pop up to improve the unique content and I'm starting to write guides, FAQ's and I'll work towards getting video started - however, I'm the only SEO & we don't have much resource so this all takes time. If anyone else has any advice on steps to take that would be great 🙂

Google Analytics Goal/Event/SOMETHING to show only Wordpress "Posts", not pages, etc
Hi all, Our site is build on Wordpress and formerly the post URL's had the typical date format at the beginning. This made it easy for me to look at, for example, all search traffic to the blog. I would just view URL's containing /2014/ and /2015/ and boom. We have since removed the dates from the URL's with proper redirects etc, which is great, but now I can't figure out a way to look at ONLY the blog in GA. I like to track a KPI of 'search visits to blog posts' and I can't figure out how to now. Can I set up a GA event that only fires when the post type template for blog posts loads? Some other solution? I'm lost here, and there's gotta be a good way to do it...

http://www.themorrisagency.co.uk/blog works well to index my niche terms. Looked at webmaster tools today and since today it has put my indexed pages from 900+ to 11 ??? I have recently added a new site format via a web designer and was all working fine. Now none of my posts are appearing.I have resubmitted site map for 993 pages Is there anything I can do to stop/ prevent this from happening again? and what do you think was the cause? Thanks everyone! Daniel

Why does a selection of sites I have written guest posts on not come up on my link analysis?
I have done a few guests posts on different sites and they are not coming up in my link analysis report.

We created an info graphic on one particular site and this site isn't coming up on the link analysis report. Would there be a reason for this. I ran a check on the sites code and it doesnt contain "nofollow" as i originally thought this was the problem. Here is an example of our work on a site that isn't coming up on the analysis report. http://www.electriciansblog.co.uk/2013/10/energy-saving-using-led-lighting/ Thanks0 -
Why such a high page rank with so low metrics in OSE
Hi,
Reporting & Analytics | | sebastiankoch
The website is:
www.s123parka123ble.com (remove the 123) All websites I have ever seen with similar metrics in OSE have normally a PR of 2 or 3 or max 4. This one is PR 5 and I would like to know why. I also noticed that they do not redirect the urls without www. to www. Which is normally bad ... can it be good for some reason in this case? It is PR 5 since a long time I just can´t get why it is PR 5. Please have a look. Thanks!0 -
Social Shares Metrics?
I notice in the OSE Link Metrics the reporting of Social Shares. The total shares do not include the Facebook Likes. What I'm wondering is what does this mean? Do Shares count more than Likes? Are Likes not counted by Google. What about LinkedIn Shares, why are they not being reported on? If Google is now putting more emphasis on Social where is the best use of effort? Getting Likes, Getting Shares only Twitter and Facebook and Google+?

Compute PageRank yourself - Which OSE metrics as input
Hi, we're running a project here where we try to optimize our internal link structure by computing the PageRank ourselves given your existing link graph. Right now we weight all pages the same, which is kind of incorrect given that quite a number of our pages have external links, hence have more LinkJuice. We'd now like to include a weight that respects the external link power to a page. Anyone got suggestions OSE metric would be good? I was thinking of Page Authority, but I assume this is computed by taking both external and internal links into consideration. Alternatively I could use sum all PageAuthority values of inlinks to a certain page, but as Page Authority seems exponential, this seems to be the wrong thing. Anyone out there you who tried the same before? Cheers,
