How can I track traffic source for each user?
-
We received an enquiry on one of our landing pages and I am trying to track down where that user come from? Whether he came from social networks or search engines and if it is from search engine which keywords he used etc.. Does anyone know if there is any way I could see that?

Hi Sida,
I was running into the same issue, not being able to track the traffic source for any individual lead submission using Google Analytics. We couldn't find any affordable solutions that offered exactly what we were looking for, so we decide to build a lead tracking tool ourselves. Now we can identify the traffic source of each lead as well as update the status of the leads throughout the sales lifecycle, which thus finally enables us to get a much better grasp of the ROI of our marketing campaigns. Our tool is currently completely free, but we will likely add premium plans in the future for users who want extra features. Feel free to check it out at http://convertable.com and let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for how to improve it.
Or if you'd rather simply use your existing form and track leads in Google Analytics, this blog post will show you how to do this with a little bit of coding - http://cutroni.com/blog/2009/03/18/updated-integrating-google-analytics-with-a-crm/

Be aware that for Google Analytics, part of the terms and conditions are that you do not track individual names and information back to a specific user, so be sure to examine the terms and conditions of your analytics software too.

Thanks Mihael and Tuzzell, i've digged into landing page and queries but it is really hard to spot but i estimate which one it could be.
Thanks again.

Data in analytics is depersonalised so you will not be able to associate behaviour to an individual user, unless as Michael says site usage is low enough for you te be able to spot the single user on your contact pages etc at the time of the contact form submission,
-
It depends how many visitors hit that landing page on that day. In Analytics if you drill down Content >> Landing Page to the page in question then Secondary Dimension select say keyword that may give you a clue.
Otherwise if you have an event set up for the contact from that specific page you can track back to the source.

Can I remove certain parameters from the canonical URL?
For example, https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/product/epoxy-and-adhesives?page=2&resultsPerPage=16 is the paginated URL of the category https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/product/epoxy-and-adhesives/. Can I remove the &resultsPerPage= variation from the canonical without it causing an issue? Even though the actual page URL has that parameter? I was thinking of using this: instead of: What is the best practice?

Migrated Domain, 90% Drop in Organic Traffic, HELP!!!!
One week ago we migrated our old domain www.nyc-officespace-leader.com to https://www.metro-manhattan.com/. Our organic search traffic from Google has dropped about 90%. Is this normal? If so, how long should it take to recover? We filed a submitted a domain change request on Webmaster tools one week ago. We are noticing that many of the www.nyc-officespace-leader.com pages are still indexed which seems strange after a week. To complicate things, we filed a disavow file on April 9th for spammy links that pointed the NYC site. We filed the identical disavow of those links to the new Metro domain to ensure low quality links don't point to the new domain. Prior to making the domain change request, we migrated 30-40 non critical pages from NYC to Metro domains. Webmaster Tools indicated that the traffic was normal on the migrated pages. We then migrated remaining pages and filed the domain change request on April 4th. It is after April 4th that traffic and ranking declined. I would like to mention that there was no change in content; identical content was migrated from Metro to NYC This does not seem normal. Research prior to the migration indicated that if proper steps were taken it should proceed with limited disruption in traffic and ranking. Any ideas on how to remedy this situation? Thanks, Alan

Can I undo 301 redirects to purchase site
A website I am thinking of buying has 301 redirected all pages on his site to one page that explains the site is closing down. If I tell him to change the 301 to 302s will I be able to recover the old pages on the site and keep the authority, rankings and link power of the old pages and not the "Closing page"? Is all i have to do is undo the 301 redirects and everything will go back to how the site was before the 301s were in place? Or will I lose all the link power on individual pages because they already transferred to the "Closing page"? Thanks!

How can I check if the FOLLOW,NOINDEX tag is working?
Hi everyone! After reading about pagination practices, a few days ago we introduced the <meta name="robots" content="FOLLOW,NOINDEX" /> tag, to prevent duplicate content. You can find an example below: http://www.inmonova.com/en/properties?page=2 I have been checking yahoo site explorer and result pages still get indexed. My question is: Am I doing something wrong? Is the code incorrect (follow, noindex - noindex, follow)? Or does it just take some time to have effect? Thanks in advance.
