Country sites - TLD's or sub directories?
-
Dear All,
We have several brands which operate a several languages and currently have a set up like this:
www.[BRAND].com/ = English global
www.[BRAND].com/de = German
www.[BRAND].com/fr = French
…
Each subdirectory is a completely different site so I was wondering would it be better to use TLD’s for each country site in order to hold more equity in the search engine if we used:
www.[BRAND].com/ = English global
www.[BRAND].de = German
www.[BRAND].fr = French
Are country top level domains the way to go? If we wanted to change language within a country site should we use the following?
www.[BRAND].be = Belgium English
www.[BRAND].be/nl-NL/ = Belgium Dutch
If you could let me know what to do I would be most grateful.
Thanks guy's

Hi there,
First off this sounds perfect for what you want to know - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en
Now as for TLD's etc. its preference - the bonus of having it on one site is all link juice accumulated goes to one domain rather then trying to optimize 3-4 different sites. You can always secure the TLD and if you need to move the site across at a later date. Whilst a regional TLD does give a minor boost it wouldn't mean much if you've spread yourself too thin across a few sites to really help the site rank.
My recommendation would be get your main site working with the rel=alternative tag in place for sub folders then you can work on moving one language to a new site (e.g. .de) get that site working really well then move onto another site etc. if you want to do that.
Hope that helps.

Google detects wrong information to compnay's knowledge graph on search index - Please help
This issue is about website properties' information showing on Google's search index with brand keywords. We have 8 different domains that operated separately in 8 countries. All are responsible for their individual domain. When I Google it with our brand name 'Flight Centre' in Google.ca, Google's search index shows company website link with flightcentre.com and detects all information, social profile etc.. from Flight centre Australia. Please see the screenshot. How to change this information that Google shows or detects website link and all other properties from flightcentre.ca? Anybody about with a quick answer would be awesome? Renaming of Link within Site Links - Brand Issues
Hi, We welcome your thoughts on the current problem we are experiencing: When searching for our client's brand name, their previous sponsors name is shown within the Site Links to a very important page. We are keen to change this reference within the Site Link but keep the link itself. We have untaken the following without any change to the words used within this particular Site Link: 1) Removal of previous-sponsors name sitewide: Title tags Alt attribute Anchors Page names Image names 2) Removal of sponsors name from 200+ sister sites: Title tags Alt attribute Anchors Page names Image names 3) Modification of [previous-sponsor + client] within Wikipedia:
Branding | | PhilYarrow
There were 250+ mentions of the sponsor + client within Wikipedia. References have either been deleted or changed to past tense. (Google has been extremely slow at indexing these changes.) 4) Removal of off-site mentions:
After using Advanced Filters within OSE, we extracted all links that included the previous-sponsors name. We filtered these by DA and approached these sites and requested they update their links/on-site content to include the up-to-date name. This included large news organisations and reference sources. We also used Google operators (inurl, inanchor, intitle) to search for references mentions of [previous-sponsor + client]. We used Buzzstream to collate this data and contacted hundreds of sites sorted by DA. 5) We have twice requested demotion of the Site Link via GWT without success. Google clearly see's the Site Link as too important to remove it. The following is useful background information:
The [client + previous-sponsor] worked together for 5+ years. Our client is known by it's own brand, but it was also called in certain arenas as [client + previous-sponsor].
Fresh mentions of [client + previous-sponsor] are frequent. Examples of this are from collectors merchandise and videos that are posted frequently. The page being shown within the Site Links is essential. It cannot be moved. With a PA of mid-70's.
We have changed the Title of the page multiple times, without any change to the Site Link. Thanks

Company's Official Facebook Page Doesn't Appear In SERP
Hi, Our official company's facebook page doesn't appear at all, in all serp. I'll elaborate all in details here below. We have an official Arabic Company Facebook page with more than 1.9k likes, the page itself is very active and constantly being updated by a person in charge of the Facebook page. We also have an official English Company Facebook page - runs and operated in the same method mentioned above. when I search for my company's BRANDNAME in google.com.sa - both official facebook pages (arabic + english) don't appear in the serp. I've went through all the way to end of the results pages - I couldn't find both pages anywhere. On the other hand, when I search for the brand name + facebook, like this: BRANDNAME Facebook I can find both Arabic and English facebook pages in the 1st page one right after the other. Anyone can help me out here? I'm desperate for solution. Thanks 😉

Author Site And Book Site - Multiple Sites Bad Idea?
The question: I've been doing work for authors lately and a common question is if they should have a site for their book and a site for themselves. Separate sites with different domain names. At first I thought this would be a bad idea. Why spread information across two sites if they can be related and used together in one? But I see a lot of authors doing this and some with marketing companies. One site for the author with information about them, their books, their social media presence. Then another site for their book, with new social media accounts, other info, etc. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried both and seen any pros and cons? Is there a perfect answer?

It's been 2 Months and Google STILL shows my Old URL, why? (help please)
First i just want to say the 301s, change of address and nearly all outer links are changed to the new url since early september. Let me give you an example... Query: Custom Sweatbands Ranking URL: www.stbands.com/custom-sweatbands/ **Correct URL that it is 301'd to for over 2 months now: **www.customonit.com/custom-sweatbands/ More... new sitemap has been submitted since the beginning. The old website www.stbands.com doesn't even exist anymore, in fact at the beginning of this month I got pretty angry and blocked search engines via the robots txt for the old domain. Any way I can get Google to catch on? Thanks in advance!

New Social Media Site + META Tags for User Profiles
I'm currently in the process of building a social media site and was deciding whether or not to add META descriptions/keywords for individual user profiles. After reviewing Facebook, I noticed that in the META Description field, user profile pages just inherited the values for Facebook (there were no META keywords); and, when I reviewed LinkedIn, there was no META description/keywords at all. After this investigation, I figured it might be a question best addressed to the SEO community. With that, what do you guys think? If you were building a social media site, would you have META description + META keywords for each user's profile? If so, what would be the best way to optimize the individual profiles so they rank highly within the search engines?
