What sources do you use to keep on top of SEO news?
-
I want to try building an RSS feed of SEO news... but not wanting to find myself drowning in materials
As such, looking for a short list of recommendations for keeping on top of SEO developments – the impetus is that I'm still discovering changes that happened 2, 3, even 5 years ago, and I want to try and catch these things as they happen.
Thinking something actually from Google may be on the list, but some of these sources are pretty on top of things!
Seroundtable.com also comes to mind.
But what do you use to keep informed?
Thanks

Hi there,
We use many of the above mentioned resources, but also follow Occam's Razor: http://www.kaushik.net/avinash/ by Avinash Kaushik - it's not 100% dedicated to SEO, but he does have many good tips and thoughts on the topic - well worth following, in my opinion!
Good luck with your feed!

Hi
I would advise you to set up a feedly, do a search for some relevant topics such as SEO, PPC, digital marketing etc and link in all the sites you feel would be relevant to you. This then presents you with a single page with all their newest blog posts/ news stories.
It makes it very easy to keep up to date.
Hope this helps

Don't forget about: State of Digital, Search Engine People, Econsultancy. They're not pure SEO news sites like a couple of others mentioned before but they tend from time to time also to cover some new aspects of SEO.

I have a feedly account with most of the sites mentioned here piping into it. I also look at a few platform specific ones, or ecommerce specific ones like elastic commerce. But those are mainly because I deal in ecommerce.

Hi,
First and foremost on my list is http://searchengineland.com/ . Apart from that there are many other resources like http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.in, www.searchenginejournal.com , Searchenginewatch.com, http://moz.com/blog, http://mashable.com/category/seo/ and list goes.

Adding to other responses...
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/
And
http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/
These give invaluable information right from the Horse's mouth..Google

For tactics and technique there are tons of blog that update on regular basis. I would suggest you to keep a close eye on Inbound.org and you will have all the best content in the digital marketing niche for that very day.
For SEO news and what is going on here are some of the blogs that I would recommend:
Forums include, Webmaster World Forum.
Hope this helps!

Will pillar posts create a duplication content issue, if we un-gate ebook/guides and use exact copy from blogs?
Hi there! With the rise of pillar posts, I have a question on the duplicate content issue it may present. If we are un-gating ebook/guides and using (at times) exact copy from our blog posts, will this harm our SEO efforts? This would go against the goal of our post and is mission-critical to understand before we implement pillar posts for our clients.

.com geotagging redirect to subdomains - will it affect SEO?
Hi guys, We have a .com domain and we've got geoIP on it, so UK goes to .co.uk and USA goes to .com/us We're just migrating over to another platform so we're thinking of keeping a "dummy" server just to do this geoIP pointing for us. Essentially .com will just point over to the right place and hold a specific .com/abc (which is generic for everyone worldwide) Current Scenario:

.com (Magento + geoIP)
.com/us (US Magento)
.co.uk (UK - geoIP redirect to Shopify)
.com/abc (sits on Magento server) Wanted Scenario:
.com - used for GEOIP and a specific .com/abc (for all users)
.co.uk (UK) - Shopify eCom
.com/us -> migration to us.xx.com (USA) - Shopify eCom I just wanted to know if this will affect our rankings on google? Also, any advice as to the best practises here would be great. Thanks! Nitesh0 -
Removing duplicated content using only the NOINDEX in large scale (80% of the website).
Hi everyone, I am taking care of the large "news" website (500k pages), which got massive hit from Panda because of the duplicated content (70% was syndicated content). I recommended that all syndicated content should be removed and the website should focus on original, high quallity content. However, this was implemented only partially. All syndicated content is set to NOINDEX (they thing that it is good for user to see standard news + original HQ content). Of course it didn't help at all. No change after months. If I would be Google, I would definitely penalize website that has 80% of the content set to NOINDEX a it is duplicated. I would consider this site "cheating" and not worthy for the user. What do you think about this "theory"? What would you do? Thank you for your help!

Does IP Blacklist cause SEO issues?
Hi, Our IP was recently blacklisted - we had a malicious script sending out bulk mail in a Joomla installation. Does it hurt our SEO if we have a domain hosted on that IP? Any solid evidence? Thanks.

Knowledge Graph SEO Factors
I notice when I search for my clients brand name it pulls up the Google local info and Google+ stuff, knowledge graph etc, as well as a section at the bottom, 'People Also Search For' and lists a number of the clients competitors. However when I search one of the competitors no Google local or knowledge graph stuff comes up. Client obviously wants to limit promotion of the competitors. Does anyone have any experience with this? I know Google Author rank seems to play a factor in knowledge graph results? Are the competitors doing anything on their end SEO wise? What can be done to limit this? Thanks for any help! jkn0BMT.png

Does Anybody Know Who Interflora's SEO Company Is (Or Was)?
In light of the recent penalty put on the Interflora site, does anybody know who their SEO company is or was (or if they were doing it in house)? Also, do you think SEO companies that are responsible for things like this should be named and shamed?
