Has anyone used paid services to help improve their site
-
Hi, i am getting lots of spam in my mail box about how companies can help you get more traffic and i see on lots of sites about tools that can bring you more traffic and help improve your site, and i am just wondering if anyone has tried any of these services or products to help promote their site.
For example, i keep getting sent about submitting my site to over 200 directories or search engines and just wondering if these are a waste of time.

I have used SiteTuners for landing page optimization.
Highly recommended. Great people! Smart too!

There are a couple of directories that may be worth paying for such as the Yahoo Directory and free submission to Dmoz but most of them will be spam.

Spammy mails with info about how to take your site to the top is just what it sounds like, spam...
Usually there's no quick fix, well sometimes there are but...
Companies that send out these mails are probably not what you would want.
A good metaphore: Would you hire a total stranger that promises to fix and upgrade your house for just a penny. Would you believe someone that offer you this?
List of things that could guide you toward a serious Paid SEO partner:
- Full transparancy - what are we doing and why
- Ranking follow up - ranking reports on a regular basis
- Analytics follow up - to find key metrics for your site and business
- Linkbuilding - list of the links and an approval from you as a client before any links are being pointed toward your site.
- A technical go to person that can help you with questions you might have.
- No quirky conracts.
If a company can offer you this, they are most likely serious and can help you.
Hope I could be of some help

Almost all of those e-mails are pure spam.
I would never consider any directory submission service. They offer absolutely no value whatsoever. There are only a handful of directories which offer any value. The main ones are: DMOZ, Yahoo, BOTW, Business.com. Even when using these directories you need to examine the stats of the page on which your link will appear. The other directories which may have value would be niche directories relevant to your site.
If you have money to spend on a site, consider trust symbols if you do not presently have them. BBB offers a directory link and trust symbol along with a method for users to offer feedback. There are other symbols such as Verisign/McAfee and TRUSTe which can offer value to your site as well.

The directory spammers and those such automated services will cause more harm than good. You would be better off paying for professional copywriting or journalist to write you awesome content - then there are some good services on offer to get these press releases/articles out there (a good example would be PRweb.com - it's by no means cheap, but as with many things in life you get what you pay for).

SEOMOZ is a great, paid service that improves you traffic

Anyone have experience with GrowTeam or the platform they use?
We are being pitched by GrowTeam to improve our keyword rankings. They tell us they work with an SEO Technology company that does A/B testing of title tags on an engine that mimics Google's algorithms. Is this possible? I am not familiar with any platform where someone could do A/B testing on meta titles.

Mobile site SEO: faulty redirects.. 204! help pls!
Hello, I have recently read that a m.site.com should provide the same number of pages as the non-mobile site. Is this so? Is this why my mobile site won't rank? Our competitors have their standard websites showing up before our m.website.com version... Also, do I have to get a whole new set of mobile links for my mobile site? In WT, I am seeing absolutely no inbound links, which seems odd? Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙂 Thanks in advance

Anyone using Adobe Business Catalyst and Fixing SEO URL Blog Updates?
Does anyone else have experience with the current update Adobe Business Catalyst has announced for their blog features? Florin at BC offered the code below: http://www.graeagle.com/images/fb_blog_og_img.jpg" /> However nether myself nor another commentator can figure out how to make it work: I added the meta data to my template but it seems the tags are not correct. For example, the tag {tag_blogpostmetatitle} does not automatically include the SEO title that I've called out in my individual blog post. So, it appears the browser is ignoring the tag and just including it as is. When I view the source for my live blog article, this is what I get for the lines that I've added the code in the tag: Also, I cannot get schema metadata to work on the BC blog. For example, I have used it on this page: http://www.homedestination.com/_blog/Real_Estate_Blog/post/things_to_know_before_building_a_new_home/; which yields the following in Google's Rich Snippet Tool: Extracted structured data rdfa-node property: title: {tag_blogpostmetatitle} description:__{tag_blogpostmetadescription}

How many pages should my site have?
Right now I think I only have 36. What is a good amount of pages to have? Any ideas on ways to add relevant pages to my site? I was thinking about starting a message board. Also, I have a free tech support chat room, and was thinking about posting the logs somewhere on the site. Does that sound like a good idea? Thanks.

How to do a no follow on site search
We have a site search that is causing a huge amount of errors as the SEOmoz crawler is showing these as duplicate content. Our first thought was to do a no-follow on the site-search directory, but we realized that the site search is /site-search.aspx and URl strings appear at the end for hundreds of pages. How dow we/how can we no-follow an undetermined amount of URL strings?

Switching Site to a Domain Name that's in Use
I'm comfortable with the steps of moving a site to a new domain name as recommended by Google. However, in this case, the domain name I'm asked to move to is not really "new" ... meaning it's currently hosting a website and has been for a long time. So my question is, do I do this in steps and take the old website down first in order to "free up" the domain name in they eyes of search engines to avoid large numbers of 404s and then (in step 2) switch to the "new" domain in a few months? Thanks.

404 help
Hello all, firstly let me apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question. I have a site www.promptresponseaccidentmanagement.com which gets a 200ok when checked for crawl issues, however pages such as /whiplash-injury-compensation-claims.php , /road-traffic-accident-compensation-claims.php and quite a few more return a 404. That's fine (usually) as I can quite happily fix that most of the time. However if you actually go to those pages in your browser, or click through to them on any part of the site you will see that they are in fact not redirecting to a 404 and everything is fine!? Any body got any ideas? Best H
