Press Release Suggestion
-
Hi Guys,
I'm looking to for a good press room that would suits this website http://www.eap-csf.eu the information provided in the press releases will be mainly associated with Eastern Europe and getting important democratic information about civil society topics in the EU and it's member stats.
I am thinking of using http://www.prlog.org/ does anyone have any other suggestions that may suit?
Thanks in advance.

EssEEmily has fantastic advice. I haven't seen your website but it sounds like it would do best by contacting journalists directly or trying to get in touch with websites you think would run your story. As long as your have some form of credibility this will be the best method for you.
Social media is great but you have to really know your target market and have realistic expectations. Again, haven't seen the website and so can't comment further. I can say that paid forms of social marketing have worked out very well to get the fire started. Buying StumbleUpon traffic usually works well. If you can dump $50 into an SU campaign it's usually money well spent.
I had a lot of success with Digg a couple years back. They are starting to make somewhat of a revival so if you can keep an active account going (note: submitting and voting on many stories, not just your own) it will eventually pay off. (On a funny note: I actually got banned because my front page ratio for each story was 30% - ha! Boiled my blood because I wasn't doing anything wrong)
Google News inclusion: find a resource that is similar to your own that syndicates to Google News. If there isn't one, become that resource! Look in the Google News guidelines and submit to get included. I had a buddy that ran a general news source that got me in when I needed it. Haven't messed with GN in ages though so I don't have the domain bookmarked anymore. I'll PM you if I find it, if you want?
Anyway, best of luck on your campaign! And a happy Friday to you!

This may not be a viable option if you don't have time to dedicate, but I've had some luck with emailing press contacts individually with my press release. If you can personalize the response - even better. Most publications, online and print, will have contact information. You can also call ahead and see who would be the appropriate person to send it to.

Cheers for the reply.

Yes there would be a budget & we don't mind paying for the upgraded prlog of €30 per press release.
-
I would like to distribute important imformation about civil society topics in the EU and ideally get some **PR's picked up my journalists **
-
I only have experiences with other small local press rooms but they are not really great for full exposure.
I would love to get into Google news & get the most exposure as possible for our site through your news and articles. We have recently created Digg Account, RSS feed with Feedburner, Facebook, Social Media Share buttons will be put on the site, etc etc.
Your suggestions are welcomed.

Hi there!
To better assist you we will need to know what your goals are.
-
Do you have a budget?
-
Who do you want to reach through this campaign?
-
Do you have experience with other press release networks, and if so, what makes you want to seek out others?
My experience with prlog.org is good. They have a very easy to use system - and it's free! The only problem is that there is less exposure on prlog.org than you would find with other press release websites. Getting a press release popular will help you out (there exists several tactics to do this the evil way).
Prlog.org also helps drive traffic. Not a lot, but press releases tend to get visibility. The highest ranking releases get placed in Google News. There are easier ways to get in Google News if that's what you are after.
I look forward to hearing your goals! Cheers.

Press Releases benefit from having an author
We just started doing some Press Releases and want to maximize the benefits of them to our full potential. Would it be beneficial for our PR to have an author? We know Google likes real people and was wondering if attaching the author to the PR will provide more strength to that particular author?

Is a press release a bad idea?
We've never sent out a press release before using one of the services, and thought it might finally be time. Then I saw that Google seems to be calling services like PR Newswire out. "Links with optimized anchor text in articles or press releases distributed on other sites." https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66356?hl=en So, is it worth it to spend a few hundred bucks to distribute a press release, or am I better off just publishing it on my blog for my blog writing service and promoting it all the regular ways?

Duplicate Content and Boiler Plates in Press Releases - Does it Matter?
Hi All, We are in process of syndicating a few press releases on company news over the next few months. These aren't fluff PRs, they are actual news and can provide some value for linking opportunities (woohoo). Anyway, we are a public company, so there are some relatively strict guidelines as to what content we publish. A great place to place some flexible links is in the boilerplate of a release. However, we can't change that content around too much on each PR. So, question is, are there any negative implications on pushing out that kind of duplicate content on the web. Clearly, it's not our intention to spam whatsoever. But, I can see how the same type of content going out on the web multiple times in coming months good send off a negative signal. Takes/thoughts?

Questions about Press Releases
Are sites such as Marketwire, PRWeb, PRnewswire, BusinessWire, e-Releases and PitchEngine good for editorial back links? Also, if I have a press release on PRWeb, for example, can I have the EXACT same one on Martketwire, etc or do I need to worry about duplicate content?

Do non-spammy authoritative press release sites exist?
Hi there, To help get news out about our business and increase brand awareness, I am considering doing the occasional press release. However doing research on new SEO client backlinks there seem to be a lot of poor quality, spammy press release sites. So I would appreciate some opinions on decent sites please. Obviously we wouldn't be 'article marketing' so only new unique posts would be put out there and not in duplicates either - so one press release to one site etc. Also just curious as to whether this still works for SEO? But this is a secondary concern, because the activity would be for brand awareness - so avoiding rubbish sites will save us time, effort and potential damage. Thanks in advance!
