Research for "love quotes"

I'm doing some research for the term "love quotes"
I'm trying to understand why following URL is ranking so high
quote-monster.com/category/love-quotes/
it only has one link?
Any advise would be appreciated.

No problem
From what I have heard, there is a period of time where you can get a really good rise in rankings from fast backlinking, which might last 30-90 days. But then it will start to regress if a more natural and diverse backlink portfolio is not developed. I believe they allow this window of time to discourage a competitor sabotaging you with a bunch of bad links. Just my own theory though.

Great, thanks mate. Making sense now
I thought Google would prevent against this sort quick rising?

Yes, check it out, it appears OSE has not caught up. That site has a lot of links and they are all recent, see the few screenshots from Majestic SEO.
So what bootleg is saying below is to use some searches in Google or other tools like Majestic to find the location of the backlinks, until OSE catches up.

I used opensite explorer.

Thanks Dan. I ran a full report and the only metric this site wins on is "mT/mR"
Can you have a quick look at the full report and comment?

Hi Mark
Check out my answer from this previous question. It explains how to use the SERP analysis tool and get data as to why a website ranks where it does.

Where did you find out that it only has one link? The link: operator from Google doesn't return the exact number ... or even a useful number.
But your "research" obviously wasn't too exhaustive, just try to enter the URL on google and it'll return more than one link...

Page with "random" content
Hi, I'm creating a page of 300+ in the near future, on which the content basicly will be unique as it can be. However, upon every refresh, also coming from a search engine refferer, i want the actual content such as listing 12 business to be displayed random upon every hit. So basicly we got 300+ nearby pages with unique content, and the overview of those "listings" as i might say, are being displayed randomly. Ive build an extensive script and i disabled any caching for PHP files in specific these pages, it works. But what about google? The content of the pages will still be as it is, it is more of the listings that are shuffled randomly to give every business listing a fair shot at a click and so on. Anyone experience with this? Ive tried a few things in the past, like a "Last update PHP Month" in the title which sometimes is'nt picked up very well.

How handle pages with "read more" text query strings?
My site has hundreds of keyword content landing pages that contain one or two sections of "read more" text that work by calling the page and changing a ChangeReadMore variable. This causes the page to currently get indexed 5 times (see examples below plus two more with anchor tag set to #sectionReadMore2 This causes Google to include the first version of the page which is the canonical version and exclude the other 4 versions of the page. Google search console says my site has 4.93K valid pages and 13.8K excluded pages. My questions are: 1. Does having a lot of excluded pages which are all copies of included pages hurt my domain authority or otherwise hurt my SEO efforts? 2. Should I add a rel="nofollow" attribute to the read more link? If I do this will Google reduce the number of excluded pages? 3. Should I instead add logic so the canonical tag displays the exact URL each time the page re-displays in another readmore mode? I assume this would increase my "included pages" and decrease the number of "excluded pages". Would this somehow help my SEO efforts? Backlinks go to "example.com" our homepage is "example.com/default.html" am I losing internal link power?
Hey everyone! Thanks again for everybodies contributions to my questions over the last few months. As the title states, our homepage is at "example.com/default.html" but everybody that backlinks to us (as expected) to "example.com" does that mean that I am probably losing a lot of the power of my links??

How is a dash or "-" handled by Google search?
I am targeting the keyword AK-47 and it the variants in search (AK47, AK-47, AK 47) . How should I handle on page SEO? Right now I have AK47 and AK-47 incorporated. So my questions is really do I need to account for the space or is Google handling a dash as a space? At a quick glance of the top 10 it seems the dash is handled as a space, but I just wanted to get a conformation from people much smarter then I at seomoz. Thanks, Jason

Will a "blog=example "parameter at the end of my URLs affect google's crawling them?
For example, I'm wondering if www.example.com/blog/blog-post is better than www.example.com/blog/blog-post?blog=example? I'm currently using the www.example.com/blog/blog-post?blog=example structure as our canonical page for content. I'm also wondering, if the parameter doesn't affect crawling, if it would hurt rankings in any way. Thanks!

Does Google follow links in "id" tag?
Hello, For functionality purposes, I need to wrap separate blocks of content with a tag. The main question is whether Google will follow this URL, even though it is not a hyperlink on the page, just a URL used for functionality purposes. We will have 10-20 of these types of span tags with a different URL for each one, and we just want to be sure that Google will not be following these URLs that are not links. Thanks!
