Additional Pages in SERP
-
Hi Mozers,
Can anybody help me with this.
For "keyword phrase" SERP looks like this:
4. mysite.com/page2 ...
13. Mysite.com/page3
14. Mysite.com/page4
Is it possible to include Mysite.com/page3-4 both to the top 4th-5th, or better merge this pages and promote only one?
Thanks.

I never like to limit anything.
Before you merge or remove pages you should look at analytitcs to be sure that you know the TOTAL TRAFFIC for these pages and not simply the traffic for the targeted keyword. It is possible that these pages have enormous long tail traffic.
This is not a simple.. yes... no.... question. All of these pages have value in many ways.

keyword.com is totally unreachable at this stage.
I've proposed that google limit number of my urls on 1st page. Before mysite.com is not #1. Have you any thoughts about this?
Anyway now i am going to keep all #4 pages and use videos, Thank you for analysis.

It is difficult to give a good answer to this.
If you can move #13 and #14 up to position #10 they will merge with your other pages to occupy #3, #4, #5, and #6.
You wonder about merging the pages and promoting only one.... here is an analysis...
If KW.com defeats you by a slight margin you might gain by merging some of these pages if they are on the same topic, and each have unduplicating links from outside your domain.
In that situation you might instead simply promote the page at #3 with the hope of it moving to #1.
However, if KW.com has you beaten by an ENORMOUS margin then it would be best to optimize your title tags to steal their traffic. For example, you can shout your value propositions such as free shipping, kickass prices, free pdf instructions... or shout about other things that differentiates you such as videos, exciting content, free beer.

Paginated Pages Page Depth
Hi Everyone, I was wondering how Google counts the page depth on paginated pages. DeepCrawl is showing our primary pages as being 6+ levels deep, but without the blog or with an infinite scroll on the /blog/ page, I believe it would be only 2 or 3 levels deep. Using Moz's blog as an example, is https://mza.bundledseo.com/blog?page=2 treated to be on the same level in terms of page depth as https://mza.bundledseo.com/blog? If so is it the https://site.comcom/blog" /> and https://site.com/blog?page=3" /> code that helps Google recognize this? Or does Google treat the page depth the same way that DeepCrawl is showing it with the blog posts on page 2 being +1 in page depth compared to the ones on page 1, for example? Thanks, Andy

Weight of content further down a page
Hi, A client is trying to justify a design decision by saying he needs all the links for all his sub pages on the top level category page as google won't index them; however the links are available on the sub category and the sub category is linked to from the top level page so I have argued as long as google can crawl the links through the pages they will be indexed and won't be penalised. Am I correct? Additionally the client has said those links need to be towards the top of the page as content further down the page carries less weight; I don't believe this is the case but can you confirm? Thanks again, Craig.

New page not being picked up
Hello, We have created a new page for truck rentals but for some reason it does not seem to be picked up. See this report: http://screencast.com/t/npYqeoa5gq The page is: https://www.globecar.com/en/montreal-truck-rentals but our main site is being pickedup instead vs the competition that has their truck page showing up. Can anyone help me understand? Thanks, Karim

How to deal with everscrolling pages?
A website keeps showing more articles when pressing a "load more" button. This loads additional category pages with a page parameter (e.g. ...?page=1, ...?page=2, etc.), as suggested by Google to get all pages indexed. The problem is that this creates thousands of additional, duplicate pages, with a duplicate title, header, and very unfocused content. They also show as duplicate content in Moz. The pages are indexed by Google, but none of them is ranking. What do you guys think: add a no-follow to the load-more button, so search engines will never see them? Thanks for your input!

De Index Section of Page?
Hey all! We're having a couple of issues with a certain section of our page that we don't want to index. Basically, our cross sells change really quickly, and big G is ranking them and linking to them even when they've long gone. Is it possible to put some kind of no index tag for a specific section of the page? See below 🙂 http://www.freestylextreme.com/uk/Home/Brands/DC-Shoe-Co-/Mens-DC-Shoe-Co-Hoodies-and-Sweaters/DC-Black-Rob-Dyrdek-Official-Sweater.aspx Thanks!

Why Would This Old Page Be Penalized?
Here's an old page on a trustworthy domain with no apparent negative SEO activity according to OSE and ahrefs: http://www.gptours.com/Monaco-Grand-Prix They went from page 1 to page 13 for "monaco grand prix" within about 4 weeks. Week 2 we pulled out all the duplicate content in the history section. When rank slipped further, we put it back. Yet it's still moving down, while other pages on the website are holding strong. Next steps will be to add some schema.org/Event microformats, but beyond that, do you have any ideas?

Interesting PAGE RANK flow
I have a website with PR2 at the home page. In the top menu, i have a link to 4 different pages. All but one have PR1. The only difference is that the page that doesn't have the PR1, is a page where the content has been loaded using Ajax. This page says "Without qualify" Strange or logical?

Erratic Behaviour In The SERPS
I am seeing some really erratic behaviour in the SERPS just now. We have 2 domains a .com and .co.uk The .com is holding fine on page 1 however the .co.uk is jumping from page 1 to page 4 almost on a daily basis. Now, we are aware that our link profile is not the best on this domain and we are working on this just now creating more quality content/links. If this was a penalty surely it would drop to page 4 and stay there... This bouncing around seems very strange..... We have updated the on page content etc to make sure that we are following all best practices but nothing seems to be working... Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? Matthew
