Duplicate content? Split URLs? I don't know what to call this but it's seriously messing up my Google Analytics reports

Hi Friends,
This issue is crimping my analytics efforts and I really need some help. I just don't trust the analytics data at this point. I don't know if my problem should be called duplicate content or what, but the SEOmoz crawler shows the following URLS (below) on my nonprofit's website. These are all versions of our main landing pages, and all google analytics data is getting split between them. For instance, I'll get stats for the /camp page and different stats for the /camp/ page. In order to make my report I need to consolidate the 2 sets of stats and re-do all the calculations. My CMS is looking into the issue and has supposedly set up redirects to the pages w/out the trailing slash, but they said that setting up the "ref canonical" is not relevant to our situation.
If anyone has insights or suggestions I would be grateful to hear them. I'm at my wit's end (and it was a short journey from my wit's beginning ...)

Zsolt is correct.if you have a 301 redirecet to the slash, you must also have your internal links point at the slash, or visa versa if you 301 to non slash your internal links should do the same,
This is a common problem i find in WordPress sites.
Why this is important is each redirecet leaks a bit of link juice, site wide this adds up to a lot.
Your site has many html errors, another thing common to CMS.
unclosed tags can confuse a bot as to what is visible to the user

As I see the redirection is in place and www.enf.org/camp redirects to www.enf.org/camp/ and so on with the othe urls: all of them redirects to the one ending with /. I think you should simply neglect the ones tat do not end this way as anyone opening them would end up on the www.enf.org/camp/ type, but that is not rue the other way. So if I type www.enf.org/camp/ will never see www.enf.org/camp.
Consequence: if you examine only www.enf.org/camp/ you get the number of people visiting www.enf.org/camp/ and www.enf.org/camp as well. This is true woith all the other ones. It is enough to examine the one the users are redirected to.

In short, you are suffering from issues related to URL standardization. First let me share a few URL facts which you may or may not be aware of:
http://www.enf.org and http://enf.org are two different URLs
www.enf.org/oases and www.enf.org/oases/ are two different URLs
www.enf.org/Garden and www.enf.org/garden are two different URLs
In each case you may choose to show the identical content on each version of the URL, but they are in fact two distinct web addresses. You could choose to offer completely different content on each URL. This issue causes many SEO problems. The issue can and should be fixed.
The solution is to implement a couple generic regex expressions for your site. The actual solution varies depending upon the technology used for your site.
Step 1 - Decide upon how you want your URLs to appear. Do you prefer a trailing slash? or no? Which method you use isn't as important as picking one solution and sticking with it. For capitalization, it is strongly recommended to always use lower case letters.
Step 2 - Ask your web host or developer to make the following site wide changes:
Remove the trailing slash from all URLs (or add a slash, depending upon your preferred choice)
Force all URLs to lowercase letters
Step 3 - Test the solution. Try accessing the alternate versions of URLs such as the ones you shared in the list above. Each web page should only be accessible via a single URL. All of the other versions should redirect to the preferred format.
Once the solution is implemented, expect it to take about a month for all the changes to be captured by Google, then examine your reports again. They should appear much cleaner.

Hi, I have a site xyz.com and two separate sites on sub domains xyz.com/abc and xyz.com/def. What's the best way to go about with GA such that I can get all the data in the same place. Should I use the GA code for xyz.com on sub domains as well? Or should I create separate profiles?

Using Filters On Google Analytics
Hi Guys, I am In need of some technical help with regards to Google analytics. One of my clients has a site providing HR Software on SaaS basis. The users login via the site for the various HR Tools. Obviously this is skewing the analytics data and showing 10,000+ extra visitors that actually don't exist. Now I understand i can add filters and exclude certain pages for instance the login page, however, some users will visit the home page then click login. How can I exclude them just to show new visitors to the site rather than users that are just trying to login. Hope this makes sense Neil

Google Analytics subdomain ecommerce tracking flatlines :-(
Buongiorno from 19 degrees C wetherby UK 🙂 This website http://www.philpotts.co.uk/ contains a shop sub domian @ http://shop.philpotts.co.uk/. I configured the site Ga analytics code to include the subdomain (see below code). I had to do this as i was getting refferal data from the actuall subdomain. But after following the instructions on p117 of cutroni's ga book things have gone wrong, mainly now eCommerce data has dissapeared 😞 So my question is please: "Why has installing the GA code above caused eCommerce tracking to suddenly go dead?" Google Analytics: Multi channel funnel
Hi 🙂 I have a little problem. In Multi-channel Funnel Overview I see 50 conversions from Paid Search (screenshot 1). But when I click on Assisted Conversion and then choose Paid Search, I see 31 Assisted Conversions and 32 Last Interaction Conversion. (screenshot 2) So my question is - why the number of converstions in overview (50) is different than number in Assisted Conversions (assisted or last interaction conversion, or both together)? Advanced Segment on Google Analytics
Hello there, hope everyone is allright and rockin' the SEO world 🙂 Was wondering if anyone could give a tip on how to configure an 'Advanced Segment' on Google Analytics. Basically I need to isolate traffic for 4 specific subfolders. E.g. www.mywebsite.com/solutions/A www.mywebsite.com/solutions/B www.mywebsite.com/solutions/C www.mywebsite.com/solutions/D/part1 Please note that the website has more pages under the specific section. E.g www.mywebsite.com/solutions/Z www.mywebsite.com/solutions/D/part2 but I only need to isolate the 4 directories (and their own sub-folders) mentioned above. Any idea how I could do this? Where are google analytics stats for iphone4
hi We were looking at the Google Analytics for one of our sites and noticed that there were NO pageviews from device=iphone and resolution=640x960 in the report. Given that iphone4 is supposed to be 640x960, and would be the most popular device (at least in our offices and everyone I know), it seems wierd. I sorted the Mobile Devices report by device and resolution to see what was available. The first 160 results were all device=not set. Finally got to device=iPhone and there were three entries: resolution 0x0 had 11 views resolution 320x396 had 45 views resolution 320x480 had 3,944 views. Hopefully all iphone4 users havent been classified as not set. Or is it possible that iphone4s claim to be 320x480 in browsers, as per http://www.alistapart.com/articles/a-pixel-identity-crisis/ Even worse, if I look at the Samsung Galaxy S II (myown phone), there are over 30 screen resolution combinations. Does anyone have anything to shed on this? I asked about it on the google analytics twitter account last week but havent had a response. Are there other analytics solutions that would distinguish between the iphones? Warning - this is a link to a large image, with the not set stats at the top. 6Sjji

Using Google Analytics for tracking statistics of the HOMEpage
Hello, Lets say I have a website with the HOMEpage being http://www.page.com. There are various subpages e.g. http://www.page.com/page1, http://www.page.com/page2, http://www.page.com/page3 . Now when I use Google Analytics it gives me all kind of statistics for the subpages shown as /page1 /page2 /page3 ... (relative path). According to this pattern the HOMEpage should be just "/". Unfortunately I can't find "/" in any statistics. Is this normal? Thanks in advance
