Best local listings submitting service
-
I'm building several local websites and looking for the fastest, cost effective service out there to list them in all the major local directories like yelp etc..
I've been using UBL but 3 months later i don't see my listing in many of the directories they claim to list at...
Thanks!

I just wanted to get other SEOs opinion about Localeze.com (Local Directory submission tool) recommended at; http://getlisted.org/enhanced-business-listings.aspx . We paid $3500 to use their system, entered few companies to test. We were very careful to enter proper and recommended NAP and categories. After 5 months, we checked 100 + directories they claim that the listing data would be sent. However only 5% of the places showed our listing. Has anyone used Localeze services? what are your experiences? We feel like we wasted our time and money usin Localeze services.

When I think of UBL, it's more for national listings. I used Localeze. Check out getlisted.org.

Please have a look at this question about local listing services : Manual submission trumps auto submissions in many ways. I know you're looking for a down and dirty service but like the post states - you can end up causing more work by using a service. I've used UBL and frankly was unimpressed.
The quickest and most effective way to get quality is to submit to the Acxiom, infoUSA and Localeze databases directly as they feed many of the directories you should be looking for. This does 2 things - it lets you control the quality and offers a short list for future changes.

Best practices for types of pages not to index
Trying to better understand best practices for when and when not use a content="noindex". Are there certain types of pages that we shouldn't want Google to index? Contact form pages, privacy policy pages, internal search pages, archive pages (using wordpress). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do you think have to re-submit my site to search engines after I made improvements?
Some time ago I started to do SEO for a one-page website and didn't get any positive result: no traffic, no filled in online booking form (yet another, multiple page website offering the same service yielded in multiple filled-in "schedule an appointment" forms). I found out my one-page website was considered to be "keyword-spamming" and converted it to a multiple page one. Its domain authority went up, but it doesn't still bring any traffic. I am thinking maybe I have to let the search engines know that it has been updated so they stop penalizing it? Do you think it might help and if yes, what exactly I should do? Will be thankful very much for any suggestion!

Content Aggregator Services....good or bad for seo?
I've just had a demo from a content aggregator service called NewsCred. Essentially the service licenses the use of content from multiple sources on our own site. They claim that as the content is all properly referenced back to the original sites there are no SEO implication to the host site. Are they correct? Should we stay away?

Google Local Gone Loco
I am a bankruptcy attorney in Southern California. I have been doing my own SEO since I had a couple of bad experiences paying someone to "do" it in the past. If you want it done right, do it yourself I suppose. Anyway, I have been ranking well in Google local results. At first I peeked in at 3/3 showing on the first page of the searches. Then I climbed to Number 2 in local searches, probably as a result of finding sites and making sure my addresses, phone numbers and business names were all correct. However, this week (as I climbed to #3 spot in the local search for my city+ bankruptcy attorney, my Google local result dropped to page 2. One of my employees rated me on google local and gave me a google + which is gone and the pictures that I uploaded to Local Google are gone. I don't know if this is some kind of penalty because an employee gave me a rating (they were completely up front about working for me) or if something else is going on. I was also trying to claim my business on Yahoo (which resulted in some kind of "Account Suspension"). I have no idea what is going on. You can take a look at my site if it helps: http://ashcraftfirm.com We are trying to rank for "murrieta bankruptcy attorney" Thanks for any help you can provide.

Best strategy for category filtering links eg by colour
Hi All, I hope you can help with some basic on page seo questions! I have an ecommerce site which allows users to filter/restrict the view of a category by one or more colours. This is done by appending a querystring value to the url ie to view blue, green and purple widgets the link might be: www.example.com/my-widgets-category/?colors=123,92,64 On each category page is a group of coloured boxes with links to filter by that colour, (only if there are available coloured widgets in that category). Each category has rel=canonical set to be the appropriate unfiltered category url ie: www.example.com/my-widgets-category/ I used to have these colour filter links all nofollowed- but am not sure that this is a good idea. So my questions are: 1/ what are the implications of these colour links that can generate a lot of different urls (as you can keep on adding colours to the filter) and how can i enure that i am not shooting myself in the foot- my customers love it! 2/ I also have page=1 etc appended for paging through results- the canonical url is set in all instnaces to be the plain category page as above- do i need to add the rel=prev and re=next? 3/ all of these links can really bump up my total page link count- at the moment i have colour filtering boxes in my main menu drop downs so that users can filter all the products that exists in all of the nested child categories of top level categories by colour. Should i remove these to reduce my total link count, nofollow them or leave as is? Its a great site feature for users- i just don't want to be shooting myself in the foot unecessarily. Thanks!

Blogs are best when hosted on domain, subdomain, or...?
I’ve heard the it is a best practice to host your blog within your site. I’ve also heard it’s best to put it on a subdomain. What do you believe is the best home for your blog and why?

InSite Linking Best Practices
When creating links within your website, is it bad to have a anchor text link pointing back to the same page? Say the page the homepage is optimized for "credit cards". If I have a "credit cards" anchor text link on the page the link points to, is that bad practice? Secondly, if it's better to put that link on a different page, wouldn't I be placing a keyword that's optimized for a different page on the wrong page? (hopefully I'm making sense) Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
