My quest has taken a turn for the worse...
-
Hello and Welcome Moz Friends!
Thank you for taking the time to review this post. The nature of my problem is that I have optimized the site www.AmericanScooterStore.com for the keyword Mobility Scooters however my quest for page 1 has turned into trying to get any page on my website to show up for that keyword. I checked every page with the SEOMoz optimization checker and they all received A's. I there something I perhaps overlooked, or should I continue to wait and pray Google rewards me? As I said, thank you for your help Champions!

Hi Justin...
Perfect keywords, good technical infrastructure and great content all set a solid foundation, but your key challenge is the same as all sites experience...
Not very many domains linking to the site...
A great simple place to start is...

...whilst you research some unique linking opportunities...
Hope that helps...

You also have a duplicate content problem...
Rewrite original and much more substantive product descriptions.
==================================
Your title tag is a keyword dump...
Mobility Scooter | Scooters | Scooter | Power Scooter | American Scooter | Mobility
Pick one or two keywords that are very important to you and write a title tag that will elicit clicks.

What are all of those links at the bottom of your page? Google will not be smiling when they see a load of footer links going out to trashy sites on every page of your website.
=================================
Link Directory
Magazine Subscriptions Subscribe or Renew more than 1000 magazines at very low price. Huge discounts on popular magazines from USA and Canada.
Reach more customers with paid web directory where you can find more resources about Fitness Directory Compact Mobility Scooters Reviews and Information
================================
I would yank them down right away.

Your site has a great look and provides lots of scooter options for customers. However, I generally feel a page should have some supporting content for each page.
To me it seems you may benefit from generating some page content.
Also, I noticed one of your pages has no content..... "Take it From Us" you may wish to check it out.
Just my two cents!

A perfectly optimized page is surely a ggod start , however you should also make a linkbuilding strategy and a social signal strategy to leverage user community. Hope this help !
best regards,

Taken a canonical off a page to let it rank with new unique content - what more can I do?
A week ago, I took a canonical off of a page that was pointing to the homepage for a very big, generic search term for my brand as we felt that it could have been harming our rankings (as it wasn't a true canonical page). A week in and our rankings for the term have dropped 7 positions out of page 1 and the page we want to rank instead is nowhere to be seen. Do I hang fire? As such a big search term, it's affecting traffic, but I don't want to make any rash decisions. Here's a bit more info: For arguments sake, let's call the search term we're going after 'Boots', with the URL where the canonical was placed of /boots. The canonical went to the root domain as we sell, well... boots. At the time, the homepage was ranking for Boots on page 1 and we wanted to change this so that the Boots page ranked for that term... all logical right? We did the following: Took off mentions of Boots from meta on the homepage and made sure it was optimised for on the boots page. Took the canonical off of /boots. Used GSC to fetch & ask Google to recrawl "/boots". Resubmitted the sitemap. Do I hang fire on running back to the safety of ranking for boots on the homepage? Do I risk keyword cannibalisation by adding the search terms back to the homepage?

What happens to 301 redirect if the site taken down?
I understand 301 redirect carries over the page value to the page its being redirected to. However what happens if for example, I do a 301 redirect from example.com to example.co.uk, 2 months later I take down hosting and cancel domain for example.com, would I lose the page value that was being carried over to example.co.uk? Do I need to keep both domains active?

Mobile Friendly Site yet rankings are in alot of cases worse than desktop
Hi All, We made our Website mobile responsive well in advance of the recent mobile algorithm changes . We only have a couple of pages with minor errors but yet our mobile rankings have not improved that much (maybe 1 place) and in alot of cases, we rank higher on desktop than we do on mobile for the same term etc. No the ranking boost is minimal at best and worse in many cases. I have checked our site on google mobile test and we are mobile friendly and on page speed test our mobile site is 99/100 user experience etc. Just wondered if anyone else has found the same ? thanks Pete

Subfolder ranks worse than the rest of the site
We have the strangest problem. The blog for our website ranks very poorly: www.lifeionizers.com/blog = average position in SERPs = 200. The site itself has an average position in SERPs of 12. The blog has a few terms it ranks #1 for such as branded terms and: is mineral water alkaline = 1.3 kangen water vs alkaline water = 2.6 kangen water pyramid = 1.2 ph of redbull = 1.1 (Used by Google as answer in knowledge graph) But the blog ranks terribly for most search terms. This blog has about 440 pages of in-depth, well-written authoritative content. Readers are well engaged, the blog has a bounce rate of ~3.5% with average time on page of over 6 minutes. The problem can't be the quality of the content. Does Google levy penalties against specific subdirectories? Or is this a configuration problem? Bad links have been disavowed.

Turning off a subdomain
Hi! I'm currently working with http://www.muchbetteradventures.com/. They have a previous version of the site, http://v1.muchbetteradventures.com, as sub domain on their site. I've noticed a whole bunch of indexing issues which I think are caused by this. The v1 site has several thousand pages and ranks organically for a number of terms, but the pages are not relevant for the business at this time. The main site has just over 100 pages. More than 28,400 urls are currently indexed. We are considering turning off the v1 site and noindexing it. There are no real backlinks to it. The only worry is that by removing it, it will be seen as a massive drop in content. Rankings for the main site are currently quite poor, despite good content, a decent link profile and high domain authority. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Should I change site link structure? Will that make things worse?
I've got an Exact Match Domain that has just started to do well in Google for say the past year. I've always received good rankings from Bing and Yahoo but I love the traffic levels that Google sends. Long story short on the 25th according to webmaster tools, my impressions on their search engine have been destroyed. No problems, not de-indexed, just not showing my site anymore. I like this site and have been careful, built some links and the anchor text is suspect but also not suspect because its the same as the domain. What I feel the problem may be is the site structure. I set it up a long time ago like this: Exact-Match-keyword. com/ Exact-match-keyword.php/state I thought it looked kinda spammy at the time but also thought it may help. Now I'm wondering if I shorten all the page titles to the state name and 301 the old links if I will regain rankings, or if I may lose some from other search engines. I used to think Penguins were cute......

WhiteGloveInternational.com has taken a sharp fall in the rankings, what gives?
My site WhiteGloveInternational.com has taken a sharp fall in the rankings. I have specified the Canonical as www inside webmasters tools. I am using wordpress & a plugin called "Simple 301" in order to specify the canonical I used the rel meta tag and changed the site location to www inside wordpress general settings, however I have not updated with the "Simple 301" plugin. Should I? Should I 301 redirect all non www pages to their www counter part or should I wait for the SERPS to do their thing?

My website keywords have been almost completely taken out of indexing in Google since 04/26/11 and I cannot determine why, anyone know?
I had 12 to 15 1st page Google rankings in the iPhone, iPad, app review vertical. As of 04/26/11 I have lost all rankings, traffic has gone from 1,000 to 1,200 a day to 150 to 350 a day. I was using a plugin for auto press releases, but have removed this and deleted the urls. I also have changed themes and hosting over the last 3 weeks. I have been trying to get SEO help, but cannot seem to get anyone to help me. thank you Mike
