Hi there mozzers,
Got a quick question regarding link building. I built a fsir bit of links, and was just wondering when these links will be indexed as links pointing to my sites?
Silly novice question but been over a month and links still arent being picked up, so was just wondering.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, they are great and authoritative links so was finding it strange that they weren't being picked up.
Looking forward to the 4th of Jan

Hi Stefano,
For SEOmoz, it can be two crawl cycles to pick up links, so it can take two months. OSE also doesn't cover the entire web, so if they are low-value pages, they might not show up at all.
I wouldn't worry just yet, and keep your eye out for the next index release, which is scheduled for January 4th.

Hi David,
I am using seomoz and majestic seo to see my links. Im just concerned to see that my links aren't being picked up.
Would you recommend to ping links and how many links to ping at a time?
-
Stefano,
Firstly, it depends on what you mean by your links not being picked up or indexed. How are you checking this? Remember that Google only reveals a small fraction of it's data.
Also, when it comes to indexing, it really depends on the types of links you've built.
Depending on the type of links, you may need to "encourage" indexing via a number of strategies (RSS, pinging, secondary link building, social bookmarking, etc).

Gathering links
There are numerous "Ultimate Guides" to linkbuilding, outreach, etc., and they are all written to teach you the art of linkbuilding. The only thing these guides don't tell you is that following them takes a massive amount of time and doesn't guarantee to get good links at all. We're all in online marketing, and maybe we online marketeers are familiar with linking to other websites, posts that we like, etc. and maybe that's why we can write these guides but in other niches it really doesn't work that way 🙂 I'm wondering what techniques/tactics/strategies you guys are using in less straightforward niches to get quality links to your blogposts. To give you an idea, we launched an article a couple of weeks ago targeting a very competitive keyword. The article got shared over 100 times on LinkedIn/Twitter/etc. and already ranking pretty good, but REAL backlinks are still missing. How to get people to link to that article?

BBB links - worth it?
This is a "paid link" so I'm naturally skeptical. But I'm wondering if the SEO value plus the usability of a potential client clicking the BBB link to our site would be worth it.

Mentions without links
Just curious, is there any SEO value if another site/blog mentions my site but doesn't create a hyperlink. My site happens to have a lot of amateur bloggers who write "we used TVFoodMaps for our trip" but don't actually link to my site. I'm wondering if that does anything for my SEO value and should I contact them and ask for the reference to be turned into a link? Thoughts?

Link over-building?
Hello all. One of the first things we do for our clients is to claim their local listings, include them on a set of selected directories (8-10), and blog directories (5), if applicable. Since they will all be linked to the client site, could doing all of this at once run us into problems with unnatural link growth? Thanks! Frank

Why does my site only have 4 internal followed links/internal links?
When using Open Site Explorer my site is winning in many categories but lacking in others as compared to competitors. I intend to improve on this but am a little confused by the extremely low number of "internal followed links" and "internal links" at just 4. My competitors have much more than that. Does this mean links to the root domain? Total internal links? I have many internal links so I'm having a hard time figuring this one out. What four internal links are getting noticed? I just went through and changed all the links that went to index.html to link to the root domain at www.njlimocarservice.com as I just found a Q&A that indicates this was better. So as of Wed at 5:45 PM all my links to the homepage went to index.html and not the root which is no longer the case. Not sure if this matters. At the same time I also just put a 301 from index.html to redirect to www.njlimocarservice.com. Any help appreciated! h9QuF.png

Does the ratio of external nofollow links to external "do follow" links matter in terms of SERPs ranking?
My site has an external link nofollow:dofollow ratio of approximately 1:1 That is, there are about as many nofollow external links as "do follow" external links. I have an impression that the ratio of no-follow to "do follow" links is a factor in the way that our website shows up in SERPs. I have the impression from reading a variety of sources, and from looking at Seomoz, that calculate "trust" factors as if they mattered (in SERPs), that seem to value a relatively low nofollow:dofollow ratio. Am I correct about that? Thanks,

Different Link Titles Linking to the same page
So I'm doing a lot of link building but my question is how do search engines treat different link titles to the same page. For example, my main page is www.musillawfirm.com If I have 20 links from 20 sites linking to it as Melbourne FL DUI Lawyer and 20 more linking as Melbourne FL immigration Lawyer and More linking as Cocoa FL DUI lawyer etc... what happens? Do the search engines just rank me higher for all the terms or would it be better to always just link to separate landing pages? Thanks in advance
