Why Do Links, DA and PA have no affect on this search result?

When I type 'plumbing courses' into Google, why does Able Skills with these statistics:
Page Authority: 57,
2,752 Links from 330 Root Domains
Domain Authority: 52,
575,594 Links from 1,211 Root Domainsrank below other pages with inferior statistics?

Just as Ressler Motors said, there are many MANY factors to take into consideration when you are looking at a websites ranking.
I must admit, SEOMoz does a great job with their different metrics, and they can be very helpful... But even so, big G uses literally hundreds of triggers to determine any individual ranking.
So, really you should study lots of metrics for both websites - anchor text usage to target page, brand links to each homepage, title tag usage, page load times... and lots more!
Hope that helps!
-
Yes, and even once you look at all those, you'll still only have part of the picture. sigh
-
This is a really good answer... should be copied and pasted everytime someone asks this common questioin...
My PA and DA are higher but I am getting beaten!
-
Agree, i have same picture. Also almost all http://www.plumbingcourse.org.uk/ back links have this key phrase in anchor text.
-
The short answer would be that ranking is more complex than that.
Also look at:
- Age of domain
- Keyword Usage
- Exact, partial and synonyms
- Link profile
- Wide variety of partial matches + a few exact
- User Stats
- Page load times
- Overall on page optimization
- Proper use of title, h1, pictures, etc.
-
Able Skills is ranked number 2 when I run the search. The number 1 spot is taken by a site site which has the keywords in the domain name which is probably why its number 1.

13 New Quality Back Links But Little Improvement in DA and PA-WHY?
Since September 13 sites have linked to our real estate website. MOZ domain authority of these sites ranks from 45-83. MOZ page authority ranges from 25-36. Six of these links were created in the last 3 weeks. The remainder have been live since Late September/October. Our domain authority has only increased from 18 to 19 since September. Our site has only 805 linking domains. Why has the increase in domain authority been so little? I have read that domain authority it algorithmic and that improving up to 25 is not too difficult. A few notes about the incoming links: -11 of the 13 do not rank for any keywords, 1 ranks for 20 keywords and one ranks for 1 keyword.

-One has 12 inbound links, three have 1 inbound links and the remaining 11 have no inbound links.
-One has 4 linking domains, three have one linking domains and the reaming 11 having no linking domains.
-7 of the 13 are listing in Google Search Console. The remaining 7 are not.
-Only 3 of the 13 are shown as MOZ linking domains to our website.
-Website traffic has increased somewhat since link building began.
-There has was initially some improvement in ranking but that has dropped off. From the metrics above, does anything sound deficient about these links? Is the fact that they are not being picked up by MOZ a negative sign or is it just an indication that MOZ's link index is rather incomplete? How about the fact that the links are not indicated in Google Search Console? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

How does OSE select top 10,000 links
Quick question about OSE, if you are extracting with excel all inbound links from a big site like IMDB.com, OSE only exports 10,000. However IMDB has alot more links then that. I was wondering what criteria does OSE use to select those 10,000 links from the 100,000+ which IMDB has. Is it a random selection of those 10,000 links or does it select those 10,000 links based on metrics like DA or PA? For the settings i have selected: followed + 301s, only external, pages on this root domain, group by domain. Cheers, Chris

Hi, I recently deleted some pages from my website and believe that there will be external inbound links pointing to these pages. I would like to find them and put redirects in place - can anybody tell me how to use SEOMOZ to find where external links are poiting to moved/deleted pages Thanks

Individual Link Value
We understand the PA, DA, trust and all of that. My question is, is there a process or formula anyone uses that shows an individual links value as to the link juice it passes. The old Domain Juice seemed to be that, but after further investigation (And Rand setting me straight) I now understand it's not a good metric. Today, we use PA divided by the number of external links on that page to get some sense of an individual links actual value to the site or page we link to. I understand this is a very sloppy system, but seems to be the only choice we have? It's based on this simple thought. If you get a back link on two different pages, and both are equal in every way, except one has 3 outbound links and the other has 30, the link from the page with 3 will be significantly stronger as far as passing juice. So... anyone using something to determine an individual links value? I did ask the SEO staff, and they do not current have it.
