Is it good to change an ecommerce site homepage everyday?
-
my website is www.theprinterdepo.com but now my boss says that it should change everyday, its en ecommerce site, that the products should change everyday, even some times more than day.
Is it good for seo? taking into account that google does not crawl all sites every day I suppose.

I agree with Robert on all points.
A few other thoughts.....
If your customers are "creatures of habit"... who visit once every six weeks, buy the same items and leave then I would not be changing homepage very much - at least not the parts that these people use. I might have a few items that rotate and I would do that with server-side includes that are rewritten by a perl script.
If you have lots of repeat customers who visit and buy diverse things then a homepage with more activity might make sense. However, if most of your repeat visitors arrive once a month or even once a week then changing homepage daily is quite a lot.

First, I think you have to get clear as to what your boss appears to be communicating: Boss wants more product offerings over time, not necessarily a change in the Home Page. (If I am wrong here, please forgive)
From a marketing perspective, I agree with your boss. Because, people who come to your site home page are more likely to have a higher percentage of repeat customers than those going to other pages.
If I search on Epson XYX printer today, you have an optimized page that is well ranked for same on your site and has a meta descript I like, I will click and land on your Epson XYX page.
After buying the refurbed XYX and loving your service, on my next visit, I am going to put the sites main url most likely and not the full url of the XYX page.
When I land on that home page then, you should be showing me what you have to offer today. Is there a discount on a general product? Something new and groovy? etc.
So, how to maintain the SEO of the home page and serve up "specials" is then the question. It is done every day and is not hard to do. Your home page is fully capable in that you are changing your featured products and HOT products, etc. Your banner has thumbnails and the big banner. The banner could be a slider that serves up three in a short span, etc. With Featured and Hot products changing, etc. you will be keeping the content updated which has benefits for SEO - freshness.
So, you get SEO, the boss gets lots of products looked at, and the customer gets to see a great selection.

3 Wordpress sites 1 Tumblr site coming under 1domain(4subdomains) WPMU: Proper Redirect?
Hey Guys, witnessSF.org (WP), witnessLA.org(Tumblr), witnessTO.com(WP), witnessHK.com(WP), and witnessSEOUL.com(new site no redirects needed) are being moved over to sf.ourwitness.com, la.ourwitness.com and so forth. All under on large Wordpress MU instance. Some have hundreds of articles/links others a bit less. What is the best method to take, I understand there are easy redirects, and the complete fully manual one link at a time approach. Even the WP to WP the permalinks are changing from domain.com/date/post-name to domain.com/post-name? Here are some options: Just redirect all previous witinessla.org/* to la.ourwitness.org/ (automatic direct all pages to home page deal) (easiest not the best)2) Download Google Analytics top redirected domains about 50 urls have significant ranking and traffic (in LA's sample) and just redirect those to custom links. (most bang for the buck for the articles that rank manually set up to the correct place) 3) Best of the both worlds may be possible? Automated perhaps?I prefer working with .htaccess vs a redirect plugin for speed issues. Please advise. Thanks guys!

Site Navigation
Hi Mozzers, I am an SEO at uncommongoods.com and looking for your opinion on our site nav. Currently our nav & URLs are structured in 3 levels. From the top level down, they are: 1. Category ex: http://www.uncommongoods.com/home-garden 2. Subcat ex: http://www.uncommongoods.com/home-garden/bed-bath 3. Family ex:http://www.uncommongoods.com/home-garden/bed-bath/bath-accessories Right now, all levels are accessible from our top nav but we are considering removing the family pages. If we did that, Google could still find & crawl links to the family pages, but they would have to drill down to the subcat pages to find them. Do you guys think this would help or hurt our SEO efforts? Thanks! -Zack

Mobile Site Outranking Main Site
Hi, We have recently been hit with a problem regarding our mobile site, where it is outranking our main site. This is causing a drop in orders and ranknings for our main site. It would appear that google has indexed our mobile site and so the two are now competing against each other. Our main site is on a .co.uk and our mobile site on a .mobi, but we have now taken down the mobile site until we get this sorted. Does anyone else have any experience of this happening and how to stop it happening again? Thanks Steve

On-site links
Hi everybody, There's a lot of information about getting sitewide backlinks, but so few about on-site optimization. Is there a maximum of links to put on a page ? Is there a maximum of link that a page should receive ? etc ... ? So, what is the optimal strategy ? And I'm only concerned about on-page and on-site link, not backlinks commming from other sites. Thanks

Should I change wordpress urls?
Should I change my wordpress permalinks to include the keyword? For examples at the minute my url is http://www.musicliveuk.com/home/wedding-singer. Is it better to be http://www.musicliveuk.com/live-bands/wedding-singer. 'home' is not relevant so surely 'live-bands' would be better? If I change the urls won't I lose 'link juice' as external links will all point to a url that no longer exists? Or will wordpress automatically redirect the old url to the new one? Finally, if I should change the url as described how do I do it on wordpress? I can only see how to edit the last bit of the url and not the middle bit.

Site dropped rankings when changing host from US to Spain
My site was ranked very well in the UK & US for multiple keywords but we changed hosting from the US to Spain and since then the rankings in the US & UK have dropped between 5 to 35 positions on all keywords and are showing no signs of returning 3 weeks later. What can be causing this? The site was down for about 3 to 5 hours a few days before we transferred hosting (this is why we changed hosting due to the previous hosting being down too often). It does seem as though the new location of the hosting server seems to be affecting rankings but I need confirmation on this or any other ideas why the rankings may have dropped. Thanks in advance
