Why do I have few different index URL addresses?
-
Yes I know, sorry guys but I also have a problem with duplicate pages. It shows that almost every page of my site has a duplicate content issue and looking at my folders in the server, I don't see all these pages... This is a static Website with no shopping cart or anything fancy. The first on the list is my [index] page and this is giving me a hint about some sort of bad settings on my end with the SEOMOZ crawler???
Please advice and thank you!

Cool Man! Let me work on this and I will keep you update. Don't forget to let me know whenever you're in San Diego, CA... You deserve a cold beer or something
-
Yes, that is the main URL you should use, based off of standard practice.
Correct, that code should be set up perfect for your situation, and should decrease any other duplicate content errors down by at least 50%
Message me if you have any issues implementing the code

Thanks Casey.
So, to make clear, when I find my website online and copy/paste the URL I get This:
Is this the main address to redirect to? If yes, I don't need to edit any of this code that you did for me right? That was really nice of you not just answering my question but providing the code... Appreciate it.
Do you believe this is the cause of my duplicated pages errors?

First, you will need to redirect non-www URL to the www URL (or vise versa, thats up to you).
Second, you will want to redirect index.htm to the root.
You can fix the problem with a htaccess rewrite. Create a file named ".htaccess" and paste in the following code, then upload it to the root of your website.
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
rewritecond %{http_host} ^cssyes.com [nc]
rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.cssyes.com/$1 [r=301,nc]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*/index.htm
RewriteRule ^(.*)index.htm$ http://www.cssyes.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Different statistics in Google Analytics
Hi! A client of mine is having some trouble on his Google Analytics overview. When he checks the yearly report with number of visitors, new visitors, returning, ... he gets statistics that doesn't match mine. Also, he gets a notation from Google that no hits were fired, although the script is still there. On the other hand, I (logged in with another account) am seeing all statistics correctly. FYI: no filters were installed, nor segments, ... Why does the client see different and incorrect statistics? There should be a setting or something I'm overseeing. Hope you guys can help.

Tool to check page size for multiple url's at once
In Google Analytics under Site Speed > Page Timings, you can see all pages and their loading time compared to the average. This is very handy to check which pages maybe need some optimization. I would also like to check the size for these pages in a similar way. There are multiple tools out there like GTmetix and Pingdom that give specific information and performance insights. The problem is that they are limited to check one url at a time. Does someone know about a tool to check the page size of multiple url’s at once (and if possible to easily export to Excel)? That way I can check which pages are big in size and research/optimize them. Thanks in advance

How to safely exclude search result pages from Google's index?
Hello everyone,
Reporting & Analytics | | llamb
I'm wondering what's the best way to prevent/block search result pages from being indexed by Google. The way search works on my site is that search form generates URLs like:
/index.php?blah-blah-search-results-blah I wanted to block everything of that sort, but how do I do it without blocking /index.php ? Thanks in advance and have a great day everyone!0 -
Google Webmaster Tools - spike in 'not selected' under Index Status
Hi fellow mozzers Has anyone seen a huge shift in the number of pages 'Not Selected' under Index Status in Google WMT, and been able to identify what the problem has been? My new client recently moved their site to wordpress - and in doing so the number of pages 'not selected' rose from ~200 to ~1100, It was high before but is ridiculous now. I am thinking there must be a new duplicate content issue which should be cleaned up in my quest to improve their SEO. Could it be the good old WP tag/category issue? In which case I won't worry as Joost is doing its job of keeping stuff out of the index. There are loads of image pages which could well appear as dupe as have no content on them (i do need to fix this), but Google is already indexing these so doesn't explain the ones 'not selected'. I've tried checking dupe title tags but there are very few of them so that doesn't help Any other ideas of how to identify what these problem pages maybe? Thanks very much! Wendy

We have detected that the root domain is not a live URL.
I'm trying to add a URL that is having some obvious issues so I can further investigate. When trying to add this site to a campaign in SEOmoz i get the following: Roger has detected a problem: We have detected that the root domain theurbandater.com is not a live URL. Using this domain, we will be unable to crawl your site or present accurate SERP information. == What does that error mean? Where should I be looking to begin troubleshooting? The initial issue was that back on 9/1 according to Google Webmaster Tools this site began getting a high number of 500 erros and that number continued to rise up to 3200 of the same type of error. So something screwy is going on and I'm not sure where to start looking.

I need to whitelist the Google Analytics servers via IP Address. Any one know their server IPs?
Due to a walled garden situation, I need to input all the servers we should have access to via IP Address. We need to track the way our users are browsing within the garden, so I require all the IP addresses that Google Analytics would use. I tried googling it, but was not able to find any definitive answers. Thank you in advance, Heather

Correlation between google and yahoo indexed pages
My blog ocpatentlawyer.com has about 130 pages or so. Google has indexed most if not all of the posts and pages. In contrast, yahoo has only indexed about 1/4 of the pages and posts. Are there any actions that can be taken based on this information? For example, if i prepare a blog post should I prepare it so that it will most likely be indexed into yahoo knowing that google will also index it. If so, how can i prepare blog posts that will most likely be indexed into yahoo's index?
