Duplicate content due to "Email a Friend" and "PhotoGallery"
-
Crawl Diagnostics gives me 1650 duplicate page content errors. 800+ are for photo gallery, the link upon which my large image is shown. 800+ are for the Email a Friend form page.
Presumably SEOMoz's tool is getting there by following the link inside a product page, which as you can see will differ only by the ProductCode of every product.
www.completemobilehomesupply.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=anchor101
www.completemobilehomesupply.com/EmailaFriend.asp?ProductCode=Shutter0011 - Is it critical to fix?
I am assuming Yes, but if for some reason the answer is No, please share.2 - Any idea on how to fix?
The site uses Volusion, fyi, so it may be a limiting factor of the platform.Thank you for your time.
Also if this topic has been previously covered, please link and I'll read there instead. -
Great, thanks guys, will disallow those two pages in robots.txt.

The code above will disallow a directory called emailafriend. Use the following to disallow the two .asp files.
User-agent: *
Disallow: /EmailaFriend.asp
Disallow: /PhotoGallery.asp

Yes, use the robots.txt file.
I had my email a friend links in the robots file, then I saw a post here that suggested using robots was bad and that a META noindex, nofollow was better, so I changed to that and it was a disaster.
Google started fetching and indexing those pages. They were even ranking above our content.
And they were forcing our content into supplementary results.
I changed it back to robots, and that fixed the problem, but I think it took a week to undo the damage.
You can use a wildcard asterisk in the robots file, but I don't recommend using more than one wildcard per line.
Disallow: /emailafriend/

I have similar problems with Volusion. Curious to read about a solution....

if possible, disallow the pages that cause problems in your robots.txt.

Should I set blog category/tag pages as "noindex"? If so, how do I prevent "meta noindex" Moz crawl errors for those pages?
From what I can tell, SEO experts recommend setting blog category and tag pages (ie. "http://site.com/blog/tag/some-product") as "noindex, follow" in order to keep the page quality of indexable pages high. However, I just received a slew of critical crawl warnings from Moz for having these pages set to "noindex." Should the pages be indexed? If not, why am I receiving critical crawl warnings from Moz and how do I prevent this?

My home page has an "A" rank in Moz and not ranking in Google.
My home page recently dropped from page one in Google to not being ranked for my top keyword. The page has an "A" ranking in MOZ for the keyword. Is there a way to find out the cause. I did have what looked like a duplicate page for a while 3 months ago when a domain was forwarding to my home page incorrectly. Appeared with second domain name instead of primary. Our business has been 95% through internet leads so quite an issue. Is there anyway to find out what is going on.

When do the "just discovered" links on Open Site Explorer count?
I have been working hard to get follow backlinks but they have all been in the Just Discovered part of Open Site Explorer for a long time. So they don't count in my stats for Domain Authority and such. When do they move OUT of Just Discovered?

Duplicate content analysis
Good morning everyone, I have just run a test from SEOmoz PRO tool and I got more than 2,000 double content errors. How might I see which are the 2 pages whose content is double? My website is just newly revamped and can't find these similarities on my own: for me there are not). Thanks for your help! Francesca

"Issue: Duplicate Page Content " in Crawl Diagnostics - but sample pages are not related to page indicated with duplicate content
In the crawl diagnostics for my campaign, the duplicate content warnings have been increasing, but when I look at the sample pages that SEOMoz says have duplicate content, they are completely different pages from the page identified. They have different Titles, Meta Descriptions and HTML content and often are different types of pages, i.e. product page appearing as having duplicate content vs. a category page. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Duplicate content & canonicals
Hi, Working on a website for a company that works in different european countries. The setup is like this: www.website.eu/nl
Moz Pro | | nvs.nim
www.website.eu/be
www.website.eu/fr
... You see that every country has it's own subdir, but NL & BE share the same language, dutch... The copywriter wrote some unique content for NL and for BE, but it isn't possible to write unique for every product detail page because it's pretty technical stuff that goes into those pages. Now we want to add canonical tags to those identical product pages. Do we point the canonical on the /be products to /nl products or visa versa? Other question regarding SEOmoz: If we add canonical tags to x-pages, do they still appear in the Crawl Errors "duplicate page content", or do we have to do our own math and just do "duplicate page content" minus "Rel canonical" ?0 -
Is there a way to see all SEOMoz questions, comments, posts, responses that I've given a "thumbs up" to?
Lots of times I'll Thumbs Up a question, blog post or response not only if I think it's high quality but if I think I'd like to revisit it in the future. Essentially, I want to use a the SEO Moz Thumbs Up as a bookmark. Is there any way to see all the SEO Moz content that I have given a "Thumbs Up" to? I know I can review all the questions I've asked or answered in the "My Q&A" page. Perhaps, I'm just missing a "Thumbs Up" page somewhere on my profile?
