Remove internal site SERPS from Google Index?
-
1. Internal Serp pages did not have a robots meta tag
2. As a result, client site has thousands (~4,400) of internal site SERP pages in the Google index.
3. We added the NoIndex, Follow attribute to all internal SERPS
4. We Disallowed: domain.com/internal-search-operator in Robots.txt
5. No new SERP pages are being indexed, but the other 4000 something that were already there are still in the index weeks later.
6. The pages are dynamically created and still work, so I can't use the Remove Content tool from google, because the pages don't 404.
Is there any way to get these pages out of the index besides just waiting and hoping google eventuall drops them?
Thanks

You can still submit a url removal request from GWT, because it checks for 1 of 3 things:
- 404 header response code
- NOINDEX meta tag
- Robots.txt disallow rule
So even if its not 404 Google will still do the removal.

You can create a formal request to Google using Webmaster Tools and tell them the URLs or list of URLs that you'd like removed from the index. Whether or not they actually remove them is a completely different story.

I should have explained it what I meant by SERPS better.
These pages are generated by doing a text search on the site. (Magento) So yes, they are product listings, but obviously most queries are different, so the dynamically created pages are all unique but useless.
Thanks for the idea about rel=canonical them back to the search page - I will look into that.

Note: By SERPs I'm assuming you're referring to Search Results within the site (e.g. a product listing) and not actual Google SERPs.
If so, it sounds like it could be a case for canonical. If the pages are all site.com/search.htm?searchterm=xxxx&page=y&rows=100 kind of thing you could canonical them all back down to search.htm.
If you're not familiar with canonical here's a YouMoz post that explains it pretty well:
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/complete-guide-to-rel-canonical-how-to-and-why-not
Based on my experience in the past the canonicalized pages will eventually 'disappear' from the index (not really, but Google doesn't display them anymore) in time. They would also eventually fall out already with what you've done in regards to noindex no follow etc., but I've found it takes longer.

Google Console returning 0 pages as being indexed
HI there, I submitted my site notebuster.net to Search Console over a month ago and it is showing 0 pages as being indexed under the index status report. I know this isn't right as I can see that in google alone by typing in (site:notebusters.net) there are 113 pages indexed. Any idea why this might be? Thanks

Index SEO Performance
Hi guys, I was wondering if there is a difference in SEO performance between a page which ends with .html or just with a slash. For example: www.domain.com/test/ - www.domain.com/test.html Which one is better? And is there a difference between productpages and productcategory pages. Because we see mostly productpages ending with .html and category pages ending with a slash. Take a look at some big dutch companies like: http://www.coolblue.nl/

Pre-launch site or not
We are going to set up a new site in four months. Historically we always set up a simple Wordpress "Pre-launch-site" with relevant texts to start ranking in the SERP. Anyone with experience of doing/not doing this and what is had led to? A site with relevant texts also should have incoming links, which needs more work.

Keyword distribution in the whole site
I've been taught during a SEO course that the whole site has to contain the chosen keywords with a fixed proportion of optimized pages, that should be like this: 50% of pages optimized on the most relevant keyword (just one keyword) 25% of pages optimized on secondary kewords (depending on the size of the site, could be a few pages for each secondary keywords) 25% of pages on long tail keywords. the teachers was a very respected SEO professional, but I've never seen this strategy anywhere in other articles or SEO guides. what do you think about it?

How do I do a 301 Redirect in IIS 7 from http://www.freightmonster.com/index.html to http://freightmonster.com/index.html when I don't have a physical page to redirect?
I'm trying to get rid of my Rel Canonical links and use the 301 Redirect instead.

Shall Google index a search result?
Hi, I've a website with about 1000 articles. Each article has one ore more keywords / tags. So I display these keywords at the article page and put a link to the intern search engine. (Like a tag cloud) The search engine lists als articles with the same keyword and creates a result page. This result page is indexed by Google. The search result contains the title of the article, a short description (150-300 chars.) and a link to the article. So, Google believes, that there are about 5.000 pages instead of 1.000 because auf the link to the search result pages. The old rule was for me: More pages in Google = better. But is this still true nowadays? Would be a "noindex, follow" better on these search result pages? (Is there a way to tell Google that this is a search result page?) Best wishes, Georg.

Is Google Places appropriate for an ecommerce site and blogs
I'm working with a client that has an ecommerce site. He has e physical addresses where they work, however, neither would want customers to go to their office. Is it inappropriate to create a Google Places listing in this situation? I'm working with another client who runs a blog for his PR agency. Is it OK to create a Google Places listing for a blog? He would welcome people to visit his agency.
