My site is ranked in the top 5 for my keywords, but howcome I'm low in an organic search results for my key words?
-
Are the other factors such as page rank, Alexa rating and mozRank used to determine where I will show up in search results, over Goggle's key word rank for my key words?
-
OK Jeff, what are the urls associated with these? These are where you are ranking, you have to remember that if you are not using non personalized search it will be different on your machine it will be different for you than on moz
-
I was getting the Google key word ranking info from my seoMOZ campaign report. I copied these words and the Google rank from the report.
phoenix transmission 3
phoenix transmission repair 1
phoenix transmission shop 1
phoenix transmission shops 3
phoenix transmissions 4
I guess I thought that if I ranked at a certain number for the key words that that would be where I landed in a search for these words

Don't worry about me Steve; the therapist said I will mend. It just takes time.......
-
lol sorry I see what you mean now, I'd taken it out of context a bit there instead of leaving it as comparable to the other items in the question. My bad.
-
Oh Steve I am hurt by this...
What I am saying is that since PR is a factor that is established based on Linking, relevance, QDF, etc. it will be most important on the whole predicated on the question asked. (If he works on quality content, quality linking, etc. will his page rank rise or not?) I did not say focus on PR and do not want to leave that conclusion. Let PR rise as it will with you taking care of all that affects it.
With an individual page at a moment in time, there will be other factors: recent page with a lot of traffic, etc. will often outrank other older higher PR pages. A page that is a local business that has a highly optimized Places listing will very often outrank a higher PR page without.
Also, with the question he asked it was about googles key word ranking versus serps:
are other factors such as page rank, Alexa rating and mozRank used to determine where I will show up in search results, over Goggle's key word rank for my key words?
I am thinking that he may be looking at a couple of things: he may be on one of the sites that uses the term Google in their url but are not really Google and give keyword rankings. Since I am unaware of a keyword ranking system other than a page ranking for a given keyword query, it makes me scratch my head.
So, I hope I have extricated myself from the PR is all dilemma.
Best to you

Agree with Steve - PR is probably not what you should focus on as it is one of hundreds of factors, rarely updated and has little to do with how you rank for specific keywords. Plenty of PR 0 or 1 sites rank very highly for their target keywords.
With that out of the way, maybe we need some clarification. You say your site ranks in the top 5 for your keywords, but your are low in organic results. How are you determining how your site ranks? Just checking in a browser can yield inaccurate results since Google will use location, and your personal search and browsing history (if you haven't turned it off, and maybe even if you have turned it off) to determine what to show you.
Do you mean you are ranking in the top 5 of search results for your keywords, but not seeing the expected traffic? If that is the case, take a good look at your page titles and meta descriptions. Make sure they read nicely to people, and aren't just a bunch of keywords. It may be that you are ranking well, but the results don't stand out from the competition enough for users to click through to the site.

"There are several determinants for where you will rank in Google SERP's, but the most important is PR." <-- I've gotta disagree on that
Yeah it counts but relevance counts a lot more than just juice.
Decent content + promotional effort = quantity & quality of links (combined with the decent content) = rankings.
I wouldn't think too much on the PR or you might get sidetracked into thinking about that, more than thinking about the above
-
There are several determinants for where you will rank in Google SERP's, but the most important is PR. When you say Google's keyword rank what do you mean? Alexa shows traffic and there is not a corollary per se to where you will rank. mozRank will be closer to PR than anything I am aware of.
The other issues will be recent traffic to page, local optimization as applicable, competitiveness of the vertical, etc.

What a Brand should do first for Their Blog Keyword Research or Topic Research?
Hello Moz Community, Need your help guys. What a Brand should do first for their Blog? Keyword Research or Topic Research? Like for the Brand Product page/ eCom Pages, it's quite easy > 1. Buy "Product" Online
Competitive Research | | Max_
2. Buy "Product" "Geo."
3. Product Reviews [for Guest Posting or Reviews]
4. Best "Product" Online and so But, for the blog, it's tough for searching out the keywords that will work if the SEO team or the keyword research team is not aware or don't have the detailed knowledge about the niche they are working on. Please verify: Is it a correct method that an editor should provide a "topic" to the SEO team to find relevant keywords by using a Keyword Research tool that there are enough searches for it which can provide benefits to the blog via the search engine.0 -
Is my client's site penalized and if not, why are other lesser quality sites ranking with lower metrics than my client's?
Hello, I'm trying to explain to a client, as to why certain websites that appear in the top 50 listings for a keyword are there when they don't have very good backlink profiles, and for this keyword, seems you need a high PA above 20 or DA above 25, just to page for page 2 - 3. Running a full SERPs report, I have seen that backlinks to the page that's ranking seems to be as high of a factor as PA, followed by DA and overall backlink profile. Having a high score in one of these 4 areas seems to increase your ranking. However, going into page 3 and beyond, seems that things kinda take a weird turn. After comparing the client's site to those ranking on page 2 I could see that all of them had better PA and more links to the page ranking for that keyword, so page 2 I understand why we don't rank on yet. However, looking at page 3, I see that the client's site in question has better PA, DA, links to page and overall links to domain. Which leaves me to think we have a penalty that's keeping us ranking 50 or beyond. Since our metrics across the boards for what MOZ is showing as ranking factors. The more odd issue is that looking at the line graph, shows right at the time we implemented sitewide https our ranking for this one keyword dropped, while rankings for our other keywords increased. Am I to assume it's a keyword density penalty? What penalties are there with a outcome of ranking limits?

How on Earth are These Sites Outranking Us?
Hello all, My colleague and I have been doing a lot of work to optimise our companies site (www.allseasonshire.eu/). The project is still massively work in progress. While we've been analysing the SERPs for KW's we're trying to rank for we've noticed two sites that are outranking us and we can't work out why. The sites in question are www(dot)nationwide-boilerhire(dot)co(dot)uk & and www(dot)nationwideboilerhire(dot)com. They're both very small sites, with hardly any content and basically zero external links pointing to them. When we compare the root domains in OSE our site comes out on top on every single competitive metric as well, most of them by a long shot. I'm just wondering if anyone can help shed some light on why these two sites would be appearing so high in SERPs and why they would be outranking us? Any input anyone has is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ryan Edit: Keyword in question is 'boiler hire'. Thanks for your answer Nishadha, would that alone really be enough though?

Competitors SERP's
One of our competitors is routinely achieving excellent SERP for brand related keywords within only a couple of months of adding the respective brand to their website. Full details are explained in the attached image to avoid the competitor being notified of this post via Google Alerts. Can anyone identify how they are achieving this and point me in the right direction? The other thing is that I was also achieving good SERPs for these and other brand related keywords but I seem to have dropped off the face of google for them, where my competitor has not and who continues to achieve the seemingly impossible. Thanks TOfVHD8

Question about Keywords & Ranking
I hope this isn't too basic of a question, but I am confused about something. If you use the Keyword Research tool and type in "Stained Concrete Flooring", the 3rd result (stainedconcrete.org) has the lowest numbers of any of the sites in the top 8-10... Is it because they have a large amount of traffic? or is there some other factor that I am missing?

Can anyone suggest how they're #1
Hi, I'm really struggling to see how these guys are number one on google (from the UK) when searching for "picture framers york" Their SEOMOZ on page grading for the term is an F, so on site SEO is minimal if any. Their backlinks are almost nonexistant, take a look at the competition report (attached) through market samurai. Everything I thought I understand about SEO is currently being turned on its head because with the information available, they shouldn't be there. I thought maybe its the proximity to 'York' center, but they aren't that close to be honest. So any advice greatly appreciated as to why they are #1 so I know what it is I can do as an SEO. Thanks, Dave samurai.png
