When to put a blog post and when an article in the articles section?
-
Hi All,
I was wondering when I should write something as a post in my blog and when I should simply add an article in my articles section?
What are the advantages of each way?
Thanks

If that's the case then keep the blog focused on the company / brand and website updates. And use your articles section for the additional long tail things.
honestly I think article "sections" are dead and I would suggest merging the two into the blog. but if you want to keep the separate articles section then keep the blog about just the brand.

The articles are for additional relevant texts to the website allowing me to catch more keywords and add relevant texts and pages to my site...

What is the purpose of the Articles section and the blog? Are the articles like white papers?

Do you outreach to blogs with no recent activity?
I have been doing outreach to blogs with some good success. My question (problem) is that many blogs do not update regularly and they may not have a new post within the past year or so. Is it best to pass on sending them an email or is it worth the time to do it? What is your cutoff point? Thanks!

Best way to show content from articles I am published/featured in
Hi. I was wondering what was the best way to show my audience articles that my client is featured in. My client is specifically a surgeon, who has been referenced in many articles around his specific field of cosmetic surgery. An idea posed is to repost the entire article but just reference back to the original article. Is there an SEO friendly way of doing this? I have seen this done before, like search engine journal's author Larry Kim might repost something he wrote or published on wordstream onto search engine journal sometimes, but makes the reference that it was originally posted on wordstream. I know the standard thinking is to always just write new and unique content, but there is already a good amount written about our client and referencing his work, how can we use this to our advantage and give new or prospecting patients information regarding his credibility? Our client really does not want us to write articles for him, and he does not have the time to write them either. Again Question: How can we leverage articles and studies that have already been published online that is featuring our client and show them in full onto our own website?

E-commerce site blog creating bad signals?
I have an e-commerce site with quite a large (subdirectory) blog attached. The blog is very successful, having attracted about 2 million visitors last year - almost 4 times that of our actual e-commerce pages. Although all content is tangentially relevant, the blog does not convert well directly (mostly because it attracts people at the wrong point in the funnel). Our average bounce rate on e-commerce pages is around 40%, while the blog is about 90% (it answers questions directly with some outbound links); and average page visits to e-commerce pages is 4, compared to 1.3 on the blog. I am concerned that this 80% of my traffic that does not often convert and leaves the site quickly, is costing me in rankings on the pages that do perform well. We recently re-released the e-commerce section of the site and despite cleaning up our structure and content, fixing bad URL structure etc., we saw little benefit. I am therefore considering taking the blog OFF our site and moving it elsewhere, linking back to the e-commerce site and allowing it to stand on its own two feet. Is this a bad idea? Thoughts?

Any arguments against eliminating all (non-blog) subfolders?
Short URLs seem to do the trick from a UX perspective. For example: /primary-care vs. /why/specialties/primary-care . This convention will be applied over 30-40 pages. Note that while "/why/specialties/primary-care" isn't terribly ugly, some of our pages would look a little overly-keywordy if we go with the subfolder approach.

What can I do to put these pages back in the top results?
Hello here, here is an interesting question for you. The following 2 webpages from our website have been ranking well on Google (usually on the 1st or 2nd page) for the past 12 years. They are among our oldest, highly relevant product pages on our site: http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/Moonlight.html http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/Eliza.html And we could always find them with the keyword "moonlight sonata sheet music" or "fur elise sheet music". Now, since the last November these pages don't show up anymore despite they are still present in the index. It is pretty hard to understand why those pages don't show up in the search results for those keywords as they used to, above all if you consider that those are among our best, most popular and unique product pages! But instead to struggle to understand why we lost presence (Panda? Some unknown sort of penalization?), has anyone any suggestions to help us to have those pages back in the top results? What do you suggest to do in such kind of cases? Any ideas and thoughts are very welcome! Thank you in advance.
