Link Juice Vs. Page Rank
-
What is better from an SEO point of view a Page with Page Rank of 5 with 0 clicks linking to your site or a page with a Page Rank of 3 with 1000 clicks linking back to your site?
Is link juice important? do search engines count Link Juice?
-
I agree, Julie. Google is not going to, or able to (unless the site with the link has Google Analytics) flow more link juice to a link that gets more clicks than another.
To answer the original poster's question, just because a link is getting a lot of clicks does not make it valuable. Traffic means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It's all about what that traffic is doing on your site once they get there. Are they purchasing? Are they turning into leads? Are they bouncing immediately? In all likelihood the traffic has some value, but to truly measure which would be better would require more information.
All else being equal, a link that drives traffic is better than one which does not.
-
For me the scenario 2 is a lot better.Make a test: try some keywords and see the pagerank of the websites. Always there are lower PR sites in front of higher PR.
-
From the only things you've said, technically the PageRank 5 link is better for SEO. BUT, there's a lot of buts:
But, the link driving tons of traffic to your site is obviously better for your site in terms of sales / conversion potential....
But all that traffic may link to your site in the future, or give you social mentions, making that traffic link better....
But, a site that is sending thousands of clicks is probably more likely to be relevant to your site, thus that link is likely to count for more....
But, the only factor you're looking at is PageRank, and there are far, far more important link factors, like the anchor text of the link, how relevant the page is to your page, where on the page the link appears, the authority of the page linking to you -- every one of these probably matters a lot more to your rankings that the PageRank of the source.
So if the only thing you're looking at is PageRank, of course the higher PageRank is better. But there's a lot more than PageRank.
To answer a question I think you may have been trying to ask: to my knowledge Google does not count the amount of traffic clicking on a link as a metric for the quality of that link. I've never seen any research or statements anywhere to suggest that it might.

I understand that link building is very important my question is:
"What is better from an SEO point of view a Page with Page Rank of 5 with 0 clicks linking to your site or a page with a Page Rank of 3 with 1000 clicks linking back to your site?"
-
I am referring to a link that you build externally, and the amount of traffic that funnels thru to your site. My question is is it relevant to SEO does it help my rankings?
-
In my experience, the link juice is one of the most important parts of SEO. I had a new website, structured and with good content. It only get well for the keywords when I started to have backlinks.
So, in my experience, links are very important.

Will you clarify what "clicks" you are referring to?

Landing pages, are my pages competing?
If I have identified a keyword which generates income and when searched in google my homepage comes up ranked second, should I still create a landing page based on that keyword or will it compete with my homepage and cause it to rank lower?

Do Page Views Matter? (ranking factor?)
Hi, I actually asked it a year and a half ago (with a slight variation) but didn't get any real response and things do change over time. On my eCommerce website I have the main category pages with client side filtering and sorting. As a result, the number of page views is lower than can be expected. Do you think having more page views is still a ranking factor? and if so is it more important than user experience? Thanks

Internal Duplicate Pages causing dip in rankings
Hi Guys, Need help in understanding whether having duplicate pages on your site push you down in rankings. Our all product pages getting indexed by Google with different parameters i.e. filters, affiliate id, utm_source etc. and then we have 10-15 duplicate for one product page. I am observing dip in rankings whenever Google starts indexing these duplicate but when I asked this question to John Muller and other Google team they said if you set up canonical then you don't have to worry about having different urls for same page but we are not ranking on Google and if we do then we dropped from page 1 to page 2 or sometimes page 3. Example - http://goo.gl/G5p3X5 Any suggestions.

When to consolidate and when to bid Link Juice farewell?
Greetings all! I've got a couple of questions about when and if it's alright to let accumulated Link Juice (LJ) slip into the depths of oblivion. I arrived 4 years late to the ticketing website that I work for (www.charged.fm), and found the website in a certain state of disarray. For the past 6 months I've been trying to wrap my head around SEO and our 750k+ page site, and lately we've been making good progress cleaning things up and redesigning. I'm at a loss, though, as to what to do with some pages. Example: The blog director has been using hash tags for years now that created new pages for each different #, which created a lot of instances of 2 [bytag] pages for 2 different hash tags that had the same article on them. http://www.charged.fm/blog/bytag/31631/steve-masiello-usf

http://www.charged.fm/blog/bytag/31632/steve-masiello-south-florida We've added 'noindex, follow' to this directory (which is the correct solutions, riiight??), but now I'm wondering if some of these pages should be 301'd to more relevant sections of the site, or back to the blog homepage. I know this could be bad for UI, but I don't believe that they're frequently used pages and don't want to let these PA 15 pages go to waste. Any thoughts on this? Example 2: A similar situation is that they used 302s to redirect to search results pages instead of using category pages. So now there are hundreds, if not thousands, of search results pages that have a PA of 15 or more. http://www.charged.fm/search/results/music-tickets We're working on restructuring the site and removing the 302s, but I'm wondering if it's necessary to 301 all of the search results pages to the new category pages like so: http://www.charged.fm/search/results/music-tickets >>> http://www.charged.fm/concert-tickets This would require the programmer to create new search/results pages in order to 301 the old ranking ones, correct? Should I put this in queue for him or just leave the search results pages with 'noindex, follow' and let the PA 15 go to waste? There are many other instances like this like a Login page with PA 20, and I just can't decide if everything should be redirected or what to leave as dust in the wind. Because all we are is dust in the wind ; ) Thanks for any help, Luke0 -
Block Level Link Juice
I need a better understanding of how links in different parts of the page pass juice. Much has been written about how footer links pass less juice than other parts of the page. The question I have is that if a page has a hypothetical 1000 points of Link Juice and can pass on +/-800 points via links, and I have 1 and only 1 link in the footer to another page, does it pass the full 800 points? Or... since footers only pass a small fraction of link juice, it passes lets say 80 points, and the other 720 points stays locked up on the page. This question is a hypothetical - I'm just trying to understand relationships. I don't know if I've explained the question too well, but if someone could answer i it, or point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
