What is the highest conversion rate you have achieved? URGENT... Community please help!!!
-
Hello Guys,
I need the community's help.
I want to estimate the number of visits per month that I will have to generate in order to reach a particular revenue target(monthly).
There are three brackets (income channels) in which I can divide this total number of visits - ORGANIC, CPC & ADVERTS.
There are two parts to this question.
Part A> What percentage of the three income channels should I give to ORGANIC???
Part B> What is the conversion rate I can achieve?
Basically... I want to find out what is the general conversion rate that you guys normally achieve for your clients and what percentage of your total visits are through pure SEO and Social Media. I have done most of the calculation assuming that I will be able to achieve 4% conversion rate (but the answer scared me real bad :)).... do you think this is low??? or do you think it is alright?
I will appreciate prompt response because I have to give my client the forecast report in a few hours... I have done a lot of research and have finally turned to you guys for an answer... RAND... can u pitch in man??? That would be awesome
Thanks in advance for your input guys.
Best Regards,
Talha

Hello Keri,
Thank you for your response.
Keri I totally agree that this is really subjective stuff.
I just wanted to know what conversion rates - SEOs in our community here generally achieved in say 6 months time.
And generally, what percentage of over all visits for your clients is made up of SEO visits (both organic and social).
So... can you tell me what conversion rate you generally achieve in 3 months and 6 months for a client and what percentage of overall visits do SEO visits make by the 3rd and 6th month.
This info will be very helpful for me in the sense that I will take ur experience and myown experience into consideration and with a possible coonversion rate in mind (which I will decrease to be on the safe side) I would be able to give a very rough forecast to the client.
I do appreciate your inpur Keri... thanks again... and thanks for the link... I have learnt from it and it is great.
take care
Cheers

Hello EGOL...
Thank you very much for your response,
You are right that asking such a question at the 11th hour is not a good thing. There was a reason for this... but thats another story.
Well, I have already asked for more time. And I have gotten answers about what exactly the client wants to achieve. It is very helpful of you to tell me that conversion rate of 4% is VERY hard to achieve... so now realistically... I should assume 2% people would be converting (for the moment). However... I have had conversion rate as high as 8% in some very tough markets and so 4% was something I thought would be achievable.
The client I am preparing this for was insistent that some sort of estimate should be given to him. Thus... I am just trying to be realistic and put all figures to the minimum and give a rough forecast.
Anyways... thank you for your input... I really appreciate it.
Best regards,
Talha

These types of estimates are baloney in my opinion.
If you are asking these questions here at last minute.... then you are giving the client a wild guess.
I think it is safer and more honorable to go without estimates.
You mention a 4% conversion rate. In many industries that can only be attained by an extremely experienced webmaster who is selling the product at the lowest price on the web on a trusted site that is widely known for that product.

That's going to be really subjective and it depends on a ton of things. Here is a good post that talks about a lot of the factors that go into optimizing for a conversion http://www.seomoz.org/blog/the-definitive-howto-for-conversion-rate-optimization.

Community Discussion - How can we apply the skills we have as marketers in new, creative ways?
Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful week! This week's discussion question comes from Tuesday's (December 😎 blog post by John-Henry Scherck, The Step-by-Step Guide to Turning Link Prospectors into Lead Generators. From the post: "Digital marketing is a pretty introverted industry. This tends to make us a bit hesitant to embrace sales and outbound selling. There’s no beating around the bush: Sales can be difficult, scary, uncomfortable, and awkward — but if you want to grow your client base, it may require getting out of your comfort zone." John-Henry shows us the opportunity for people who are good at link prospecting to apply those skills to lead generation, improving business opportunities by creatively using the skills they already have. SEOs and marketers wear many hats, and have a diverse skill set at their disposal—how else can we apply the skills we already have in creative ways?

Traffic, rankings and own manual note in one interface, please :)
Hey guys, I really hope that such a tool exists out there. Here's the problem. My boss asked me to create a graph that shows the traffic, rankings and notes on our site updates in one place. Here's what I did I just made a screenshot of my Google analytics and rankings from RankTracker. Then I added it all in one Photoshop file and tried to combine them so that I can see if traffic drops coincided with keyword drops. Also, I added some manual notes about the updates on my site (like text updates on the homepage, etc). So, is there a tool that allows to combine Google traffic data with ranking data. Plus it should allow to add my own comments ? Here's the result of my crazy drawings so that you understand why I'm not happy about doing that in Photoshop 🙂 https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_oX-XIT7OSCRC1jWUcxR3AwdkE/edit?usp=drive_web

What is the best way to share good content (and help myself in the process)
i spend a decent amount of my spare time browsing quora, stumbleupon, google reader, pulse, etc keeping up with all the different aspects of internet marketing when i come across a particuarly valuable piece of content i take a few seconds and share it using hootsuite on my linked, twitter, facebook (i spread them out so there is only one post a day) this rewards those who write valuable content but im not doing anything to benefit my site - www.sawwebmarketing.com im establishing myself as somebody who has good stuff to share to my potential clients.... what a quick, easy way to share the high quality things i come across that will create links for me as well? (short of writing my own blog post listing the high quality articles i found with my thoughts on each) thoughts? opinions? thanks everybody! Matthew

Help! I need to hire a SEO / SEM Specialist - Am I asking for too much?!
Hey all! I'm expanding my in-house marketing team and I need to add an SEO / SEM Specialist that will strategize, execute & manage the following: Organic SEO PPC across multiple channels (Google, Bing & also social sites like Facebook) Remarketing & Display marketing Banner ads Retargeting We're a lean company that's all about doing more with less. But not being very familiar with the SEO / SEM world I'm afraid I'm asking for too much! What do you guys think? What's your experience been? If you do think that this is potentially a single position, what would be the best title for attracting talent? SEO / SEM Specialist? Digital Marketing Manager? With the research I've done - jobs / titles have been totally across the board! I'm not able to find much consistency. Thank you all for your help 🙂 It's greatly appreciated!!!!!
