What linkbuilding techniques are working right now after google's recent update?
-
I'm facing some issues after the google's recent update, been using blog networks, blog comments, web 2.0 submissions, directory submissions etc
What techniques works now? i don't see any improve from web 2.0 these days may be we need to get enhance ? may be curated content?
to what extent i understand this, i think they all are low quality backlinks which all the other blackhat markets use previous, and it even gets worst if we keep on doing this --- for the last 1-2 weeks i've stoped linkbuilding just searching for something concrete with this regard, because backlinks that are DoFollow is necessary to have! any thoughts on working techniques that won't harm my rankings?

I suggest to search for such blogs manually and not submit to any blog networks - that way you keep your risk of getting caught in spam lower. Write a personal email to them if you find a potential blog and write them a custom offer, that works best.
and it doesn't have to be only guestblogging. Also, get your business partners etc. to link to you. What you need is some nice variation and not all links coming from the same type of website.

So just guestblogging then? any places to get as many blogs as possible to write to?

as old as it may sound... but provide good content to the sites you want links from. one of the most successful strategies in my opinion, is still offering sites custom content according to their needs: offer to write them a specific article about the topic they desire. have the article include a link to a helpful page on your site.
of course, try to get good variation in the domains you chose to get links from. steer clear of spammy sites. and make sure you have a lot of anchor text variation. a LOT! in my experience, overoptimization of anchor text and only using the same kind of blogs for backlinks is what can hurt most.

1000's Backlinks from ONE Root Domain - Positive or negative?
One of my website's link is placed over a comment. This website has a "recent comments" section in the footer which is hence appearing on all the websites pages. All tools including - Google Search Console, Majestic and MOZ are showing 45000+ links from that root domain. Questions: Are these links harmful to my rankings? Should I get all those links disavowed? Should I disavow the root domain or leave the link that lies on the home page? What if there are up to 10 links coming from a domain? is that harmful too? Apart from disavowing, is there any other option to get this fixed? If at all this counts as an issue... Thanks in advance!!

Best Methods and Tools for Monitoring your Website's Backlinks
Recently, I've launched two websites. I want to make sure I'm doing a good job monitoring our link building efforts. I'm see a lot of tools out there to supplement my use of Open Site Explorer. What I want to know is what tools I should be using to monitor my links? My ultimate goal would be to have the data to track the number of links I'm adding a month so that I can use it for reporting. There is another layer. Because the sites are new, OSE is actually not reporting any links found. I can only find reported links through Google Search Console. Any advice? Is this something where I will just have to wait for everything to get indexed?

Morally Right vs Strategic 404 Question
Hey, I bought my domain name not even thinking of the backlink profile advantages. However, now I have about 140 links back to my site delivering 404 errors. Some with DA only in the teens, but some more. What would you consider the right way to go about this? Should I redirect them to my homepage? Should I try to disavow them? Any thoughts are welcome.

Also nofollow backlinks have any effect on the SERP? Thanks.

White, Black, Grey, B.S. Hat?
I was using Open Site Explorer to check out some competition and I noticed that there were a good amount of links coming from a no-name blog Seen Here. Obviously there are 50+ mentions of Express Auto Repair across a few blog posts. I've seen this tactic used before, but does it really do anything for the client, or is this just old school trickery? Thanks for your help.

Linkbuilding: Checklist for quality of a link
Hi everyone, During linkbuilding you often stumble upon those links you are not quite sure of. At first it may seem like a brilliant idea to get a link fom that site but on a second look it may be not. So what would be a checklist of things to look for, if one is asessing a website's link quality? (e.g. how do you spot a bad neighborhood?) If you are using SEOmoz tools for the quality asessment, which one would you use? Looking forward to your answers! Thx for the help in advance! Regards Thorsten
