How Will This Google Change Effect Us?
-
-
In short, it changes everything - a complete game changer. Shows google means business. That' fair enough, but the fcat is that there a huge number of clearly paid for links and clearly recip links that google still seems to classify as natural. They should make it clear - if say 20% of your links are clearly unnatural, or more, then you get a warning, if it then goes up to 40% a small penalty and so on. Google instead plays the game, and plays with people's sites and their livelihoods.
Seo just became a lot harder and more expensive and uncertain. This may well mean people instead favour ppc. Funny that, because who benefits from ppc - you got it, google !

Hi Alhallinan,
I don't think there will be any massive changes for transactional search queries & e-commerce sites. The examples I have seen tend to revolve around information searches.
Search Engine Land have written a good rebuttal to this article and it is definitely worth a read.
Cheers, Rich

Hi Alhallinan
I think the essence will stay the same for us. As it is said in the article Google will try to respond with better results to queries so it may even turn out good for white hat seo's.
Lets say a person types in "speed after tuning GMC" Google will answer that person with a webpage that contains the answer. This is how I interpret the information given in the article. So in any case it could turn out good if you really tell usefull information on your page.
That's just what i think

Is my content being fully read by Google?
Hi mozzers, I wanted to ask you a quick question regarding Google's crawlability of webpages. We just launched a series of content pieces but I believe there's an issue.

Based on what I am seeing when I inspect the URL it looks like Google is only able to see a few titles and internal links. For instance, when I inspect one of the URLs on GSC this is the screenshot I am seeing: image.pngWhen I perform the "cache:" I barely see any content**:** image.pngVS one of our blog post image.png Would you agree with me there's a problem here? Is this related to the heavy use of JS? If so somehow I wasn't able to detect this on any of the crawling tools? Thanks!0 -
Will this affect
Hi there! I've got a question that I'm having trouble answering. My client has one site url essentially has two sites within it. The homepage (name-photography.com) content focuses on her fashion photography services with a specific design and look with almost no mention of weddings unless you click the weddings icon. When you click on weddings, it takes you to a "new" site on the same url (name-photography.com/weddings) that has entirely different look and feel. The client would like to improve her visibility for her wedding services and not the fashion photography side. Would it be more beneficial to house the wedding services on an entirely new URL so that homepage content can be wedding focused. Again, with the current homepage, it's all fashion photography focused and not easy to redo. Or could one implement a 301 redirect from the fashion homepage (name-photographer.com) to the wedding homepage (name-photographer.com/weddings)? Thanks for your advice! Jessica

Fetch as Google
I have odd scenario I don't know if anyone can help? I've done some serious speed optimisation on a website, amongst other things CDN and caching. However when I do a Search Console Fetch As Google It is still showing 1.7 seconds download time even though the cached content seems to be delivered in less than 200 ms. The site is using SSL which obviously creams off a bit of speed, but I still don't understand the huge discrepancy. Could it be that Google somehow is forcing the server to deliver fresh content despite settings to deliver cache? Thanks in advance

If I had an issue with a friendly URL module and I lost all my rankings. Will they return now that issue is resolved next time I'm crawled by google?
I have 'magic seo urls' installed on my zencart site. Except for some reason no one can explain why or how the files were disabled. So my static links went back to dynamic (index.php?**********) etc. The issue was resolved with the module except in that time google must have crawled my site and I lost all my rankings. I'm nowher to be found in the top 50. Did this really cause such an extravagant SEO issue as my web developers told me? Can I expect my rankings to return next time my site is crawled by google?

Will changing domain registration details affect ranking?
Hi all, I've got a .co.uk site that I want to update the domain registrant account details for. The change will involve registering the domain to a limited company name rather than an individual and possibly changing the registered address. Does anyone know whether this could affect google rankings? I've heard of stories of sites losing their PR because the registrant details have changed and I don't really want that to happen! Thanks in advance for any help
