How else to find backlinks for training site
-
Hello,
How would you recommend finding and gaining backlinks for
nlpca(dot)com
other than looking at the top 10 competitors?
Also, we could do an infographic but the owners don't have time to produce a lot of additional articles.
Thanks!

I'd also recommend checking out the SEOmoz articles on Link Building to give you some ideas http://www.seomoz.org/blog/category/4.

Bob,
OSE and Link Finder are 2 amazing and useful tools, you should definitely check them out.
Although I think that the number one link building strategy that always works and always pays off is content, actually quality content.
I think you are in a quite interesting niche and with the programs that you offer you could pulled a lot of high quality content that you can then spread through the social media channels.

I would literally search everything under the sun re: topics I noticed on your homepage. I.e.:
- training
- certification
- wealth
- hypnosis
There's gotta be tons of bloggers on most of these topics on top of associations or organizations as well. There's probably even directories and forums specific to all these topics and so I would scour those as well. Start with the basic searches on the broad topics and then start going down tangents.
You can find some gold in those hills, if you travel far enough...

Yes, try to find the backlinks for your competition...not just the top 10 competition for your top term. Use other keywords to see if the same set of websites ranking. I am sure there will be other niche sites ranking for some of your long tail keywords or something. Look at their backlinks as well. I would also sometimes try to look into the backlinks of the backlinks to see if I can find any opportunities.

I've used OSE on the top 10 competitors. But I'll check out the competitive link finder.

Bob-
Have you used the SEOMOZ tools on the site. Opensite explorer and competitive link finder under research tools is a great place to start. It will give you detail much deeper than the top 10 competitors. I find that the more time I spend on SEOMOZ, the more value I get.....not just "brown nosing" these guys. No affiliation.
Happy seomozing.

Indexed Pages Different when I perform a "site:Google.com" site search - why?
My client has an ecommerce website with approx. 300,000 URLs (a lot of these are parameters blocked by the spiders thru meta robots tag). There are 9,000 "true" URLs being submitted to Google Search Console, Google says they are indexing 8,000 of them. Here's the weird part - When I do a "site:website" function search in Google, it says Google is indexing 2.2 million pages on the URL, but I am unable to view past page 14 of the SERPs. It just stops showing results and I don't even get a "the next results are duplicate results" message." What is happening? Why does Google say they are indexing 2.2 million URLs, but then won't show me more than 140 pages they are indexing? Thank you so much for your help, I tried looking for the answer and I know this is the best place to ask!

Cleaning up backlinks and changing URLs
Currently we are performing very poorly in organic clicks. We are a e-commerce site with over 2000 products. Issues we thought plagued us: Copied Images from competitors Site wide duplicate content duplicate content from competitor site Number of internal links on a page (300+) Bad backlinks (2.3k from 22 domains and ips) being linked to from sites like m.biz URLs URLs are abbreviated, over 50% lack our keywords Lack of meta descriptions, or too long meta descriptions Current State of fixing these issues: 50% images are now our own Site wide duplicate content near 100% completed Internal links have been dealt with Rewrote content for every product 90% of meta descriptions are fixed From all of these changes we have yet to see increase in traffic...10% increase at best in organic clicks. We think we have penalties on certain URLs. My question for the MOZ community is what is the best way to attack the lack of organic clicks. Our main competition is getting 900% more clicks than us. Any more information you need on the topic let me know and will get back to you.

Sitemap for SmartPhone site
Hello I have a smartphone site (e.g.m.abc.com). To my understanding we do not need a mobile sitemap as its not a traditional mobile site. Shall I add those mobile site links in my regular www XML sitemap or not bother to add the links as we already have rel = canonical (on m.abc.com ) and rel= alternate in place (on www site) to respective pages. Please suggests a solution. I really look forward to an answer as I haven't found the "official" answer to this question anywhere.

301 entire site
Is there a good 301 code snippet to change just the root domain but keep the ending extensions? I just bid on a domain that I think would be much better for me moving forward, but do not want to have to try going through thousands of pages to do their 301 individually My site is almost 4 yrs old. Well established and has a large fanbase. Several of our social networks are under the name of the new branded domain, hence part of the desire to switch.

Building Backlinks to Backlinks?
Should I be building back links to my Back links, I have a fairly decent amount of guest post on decent to standard blogs and just wondered if I should be building a few medium quality back links to these. I can understand that I should just build all links to my website but there are a lot of opportunities on cheaper blogs such as little better than article submission sites which I would not really want my main site on would this help?

Splitting a Site into Two Sites for SEO Purposes
I have a client that owns a business that really could be easily divided into two separate business in terms of SEO. Right now his web site covers both divisions of his business. He gets about 5500 visitors a month. The majority go to one part of his business and around 600 each month go to the other. So about 11% I'm considering breaking off this 11% and putting it on an entirely different domain name. I think I could rank better for this 11%. The site would only be SEO'd for this particular division of the company. The keywords would not be in competition with each other. I would of course link the two web sites and watch that I don't run into any duplicate content issues. I worry about placing the redirects from the pages that I remove to the new pages. I know Google is not a fan of redirects. Then I also worry about the eventual drop in traffic to the main site now. How big of a factor is traffic in rankings? Other challenges include that the business services 4 major metropolitan areas. Would you do this? Have you done this? How did it work? Any suggestions?
