Any idea why I can't add a Panoramio image link to my Google Places page?
-
Hey guys & gals!
Last week, I watched one of the Pro Webinars on here related to Google Places. Since then, I have begun to help one of my friends with his GP page to get my feet wet.
One of the tips from the webinar was to geotag images in Panoramio to use for your images on the Places page. However, when I try to do this, I just get an error that says they can't upload it at this time.
I tried searching online for answers, but the G support pages that I have found where someone asks the same question, there is no resolution.
Can anyone help?
PS - I would prefer not to post publicly the business name, URL, etc. So, if that info is needed, I can PM.
Thanks a lot!

Same webinar, same Issue over here !
How did you get around this problem ? Picasa ? Flickr ? Straight from your computer ? I guess straight from my computer will do for now...It seems like a quick and easy fix, but not optimized...!

Thanks for your reply. I can attach images from my desktop, but not via URL. I just tried using a URL of an image on the website itself, and it still won't do it.
Panoramio is owned by Google though, so Google definitely doesn't have a problem w/ them

Did you tried some other images to add same time. If you did and got same error then it is not issue with Panoramio but if others get added and only panoramio has problem then probably it is quite possible that Google is not accepting images from Panoramio as Panoramio is getting better popularity than Picasa.

Internal links to landing pages
Hi, we are in the process of building a new website and we have 12 different locations and for theses 12 locations we have landing pages with unique copy on the following: 1. Marketing...2 SEO....3. PPC....4. Web Design Therefor there are 48 landing pages. The marketing pages are the most important ones to us in terms of traffic and priority. My question is: 1. Should we put a dropdown of the are pages in the main header under locations that link to the area marketing pages? 2. What is the best way to link all the sub pages such as London Web Design? Should these links just be coming off the London marketing page? or should we have a sitemap in the footer that lists every page? Thanks

If I deindex a page then will Google stop counting those links pointing to it?
Hey everyone, I am deindexing some posts of my website as I think they are not providing any value to the users. My question is that if I deindex a post and it has some good quality links pointing to it, will google stop those links counting for my website?

Is there any SEO advantage to sharing links on twitter using google's url shortener goo.gl/
Hi is there any advantage to using goo.gl/ to shorten a URL for Twitter instead of other ones? I had a thought that goo.gl/ might allow google to track click throughs and hence judge popularity.

If I only Link to Page via Sitemap, can it still get indexed?
Hi there! I am creating a ton of content for specific geographies. Is it possible for these pages to get indexed if I only put them in my sitemap and don't link to them through my actual site (though the pages will be live). Thanks!

Removing a Page From Google index
We accidentally generated some pages on our site that ended up getting indexed by google. We have corrected the issue on the site and we 404 all of those pages. Should we manually delete the extra pages from Google's index or should we just let Google figure out that they are 404'd? What the best practice here?

Google Places verification
What advice do you have for achieving verification for Google Places for a client? I have a client at the moment and I tried getting the call sent through and I'm not sure what happened but a couple of tries at this did not work. I've tried the post card way and I'm still waiting. Do I need to be more patient in Australia for this verification post card? Is there a way I can verify the info myself? note: I have set up a seperate email that there business email to handle a lot of the link building but this is different to there business email which Google uses.
