Should I ping Each New Article And How Will It Help Me

Hi I am looking for advice to get my new articles out there and my news stories. I would like to know if i should ping my articles and news stories each time i write a new one and if so which ping services do you recommend and what do they really do.
Can anyone recommend any other services that i could use to promote my new articles and news stories to gain more traffic.

is there a tool that will allow you to enter all the ping sites that are availabe and then enter the details like pingomatic and enter the url that you want to ping which will then ping all the ping site that you want.

thanks andrew, i use these at the moment, just wondering if there is one where it will ping all the sites at once.
have tried buying a k2 ping tool for my joomla 1.5 site but it does not work with the 1.5 site which is a sahme as it would make it a lot easier if it was done automatically like word press.

If you use Joomla you can install a component in order to use ping services like in Wordpress.

If you mean to use ping services in order to have your new article indexed, than the fastest and surest ping is system is Google+ itself (as once was Twitter).
Just few minutes after shared a link on G+, it's visited by Googlebot and indexed.

hi, how can i add these ping services to one service. I use joomla so i do not think they have an automatic ping service. What will it actuall do for my site and for attracting visitors to my site.

Yes, ping every article you post.
Depending on your platform will dictate what you can do. If you're on wordpress, they have a built in system that automatically does that for you.
I'm sure other systems have them in place as well, but I am not familiar with them.

Old domain to new domain
Hi, A website on server A is no longer required. The owner has redirected some URLS of this website (via plugin) to his new website on server B -but not all URLS. So when I use COMMAND site:website A , I see a mixture of redirected URLS and not redirected URLS.Therefore two websites are still being indexed in some form and causing duplication. However, weirdly when I crawl with Screaming Frog I only see one URL which is 301 redirected to the new website. I would have thought I'd see lots of URLs which hadn't been redirected. How come it is different to using the site:command? Anyway, how do I move to the new website completely without the old one being indexed anymore. I thought I knew this but have read so many blogs I've confused myself! Should I: Redirect all URLS via the HTACESS file on old website on server A? There are lots of pages indexed so a lot of URLs. What if I miss some? or Point the old domain via DNS to server B and do the redirects in website B HTaccess file? This seems more sensible but does this method still retain the website rankings? Junk/ Spammy Links Help
I am trying to get rid of all of the junk/spammy links from a site. Problem I am running into is OSE is only showing 7 links and there are way more than that. I'm redesigning a website which will have a new URL format. What's the best way to redirect all the old URLs to the new ones? Is there an automated, fast way to do this?
For example, the new URL will be: https://oregonoptimalhealth.com/about_us.html while the old one's were like this: http://www.oregonoptimalhealth.com/home/ooh/smartlist_1/services.html I have redirect almost 100 old pages to the correct new page. What's the best and easiest way to do this?

Duplicate Content Issues - Should I build a new site?
I'm currently working on a site which is built using Zen Cart. The client also has another version which has the same products on it. The product descriptions and the vast majority of the text has been re-written. I've used the duplicate content tool and these are the results: HTML fingerprint: 0000a7ee1f07a131 0000a7ec1f07a931 92.31% Total HTML similarity: 76.33% Standard text similarity: 66.72% Smart text similarity: 45.81% Total text similarity 56.27% I considered using a different eCommerce system like Magento or Volusion. So I had a look at a few templates, chose one and then used the tool again and got the following: HTML fingerprint: 0000a7e41b012111 0000a7ec1f07a931 72.00% Total HTML similarity: 64.65% Standard text similarity: 11.69% Smart text similarity: 17.90% Total text similarity 14.80% Do you think its worth doing this? thanks Dan

Help! Need advice for a new HTTPS URL!
Hi. We have just launched a new website that is fully secure with the HTTPS url. You can still access the home page with an ordinary HTTP address. That is what we want to change.
