Google and low quality guest posts
-
In the aftermath of the Penguin and Panda monsters a lot of blog networks seem to have been devalued by Google. It seems logical that spammers will flock to low quality guest posting next. How do you think Google will determine which guest post links to devalue?
Thanks!

I say flocking to low-quality guest blogging is a bad solution to Penguin update. Penguin was not primarily about banning blog networks. It was about banning over-optimized links and link schemes. So Google will use the same tactics here: too much anchor text, too easy to identify!

I don't know how Google will do this - or if they will.... but if I was the boss at Google, each crappy post on the blog would increase the odor of the entire domain... and anchor text links would have their juice cut by 90%.

"The ones with crappy content that have keyword anchor text links pointing to other domains."
Would you say it's safe to assume that both of these would have to be implemented for it to be devalued? The anchor text AND the crap? I mean, keyword anchor text pointing to other domains is a good practice used by many valuable blogs--it helps your blog posts be more informative.

The ones with crappy content that have keyword anchor text links pointing to other domains.... and the domains that they point to have lots of other crappy content on lots of other crappy blogs that have keyword anchor text content.

Connecting Two Websites Without Upsetting Google
I have a question that I think I know the answer to, but want to cover my bases. We have a successful blog and are creating a second similar blog for a more specific type of reader. We want to backlink between content because it makes sense for the reader. Our fear is that we may come off spammy to Google by having so many backlinks. Is there a way we are able to tell Google these two sites are related so they don't penalize either site for anything?

Should I continue adding new content on the website penalized by Google?
I have a website that is imposed partial action by Google due to unnatural links. We are in the process to clean up those links. At the same time, I want to add more content to the same website. My concern is whether the new content pages will be affected by Google's action as well. Should I wait until we finish the cleanup and get a green light from Google? In addition, will it be worth doing some on-page optimization on the pages that are affected by unnatural links and Google's penalty? Please advise. Thanks. John

Guest Posting
Is guest posting to get links a good idea? I have the blogs to post but do not have the time to find, approach and build a relationship with bloggers to get the guest posts. Are guest posting services a good idea and if so can anyone recommend one? Thanks

Guest Blog It
Does anybody else here use the Guest Blog It site? I have tried submitting an article but it's telling me that it's 47% duplicate content. I have ran it through 2 plagiarism checkers and they both said it was 100% unique. I have tried contacting the site directly about this but as of yet have had no response. I was just wondering if anybody on here knows what they use to check for duplicate content so I can take a look and amend my article. Thanks 🙂

Google has a problem with this keyword
I've been trying to get one of my clients to rank in the first page for a word which I think has no serious competition at all. Every tool I tried so far including SEOMoz's on-page diagnostics tool seem to have no positive SEO results whatsoever. According to most tools out there our page is optimized for SEO more than every website who is ranked for this keyword. The competition also has less backlinks and social awareness. We even advertise on Google for this word. But Google says no...keeps dropping us in results. We have many FB and twitter followers to. But Google is committed to rank bad sites. Funny thing is that recently our site has received a PR6. No matter what we do Google is convinced to list pretty ugly looking sites for this specific keyword and I have ran out of options. This is really driving me crazy. The keyword we try to rank is "doktor" and we want to rank in google.com.tr. If you look the search results you will see a lot of youtube videos and some sites that don't even provide meaningful content. Please help.

Guest blogging for the gaming industry
Guest blogging seems to be one of the few legit linking methods left these days. My problem is that I work for a company in the gaming industry niche. All of the blogs directly connected are either spam, competitors or affiliates. I have been doing some guest blogging with connected articles on non-related blogs such as "financial advice if you win big" or a recent news story for a general blog. However, these sites are not connected and I cannot get the more quality general sites interested in these topics. Any advice for me?

Guest blogging company - yay or nay?
I'm considering working with a guest blogging company. The quality of the writing seems to be decent / not spammy. The types of sites they're guest blogging on are... http://theblogabouteverything.com/ http://globalgoodgroup.com/ I know these are fairly generic blogs. Is there any chance of a manipulative link penalty with these types of sites? Thanks!
