Home Page SEO
-
Hi!
We recently re-designed our home page in early March. After Google panda, we re-tweaked it again, before we take it live, we really want to get some expert's opinions. We would be grateful for any comments/suggestions/feedback, particularly in the following area (you will need to click a few times to get the page to real size):
- is the bottom content ok? please scroll down all the way.
2) We used semantic keywords for 5-6 anchor interlinks to the same page to promote core products from the home page. Is this too much?
- 80% links on the footer is a repetition of header navigation links, do these footer serve any SEO value or is it over - optimization?
Here is the URL:

Thanks a lot!

I would tend to agree with Phil.
The bottom content doesn't feel natural, at the end of the day a homepage cannot be all things to all men, use your internal pages and blogs (if you have them) to target some of your lesser keywords and let your homepage focus on your big hitters.
You should take a look at this Panda centric White Board Friday, it covers a lot of common SEO bad practices, i think a couple of these may be applicable to your proposed website.
I hope this helps, as its a jungle out there right now!!

If it were my site, then I would remove the bottom content. It's formatted in such a way that as a visitor of your site, I would never read it. It looks like legal text, or text that is just there for SEO. If it is there just for SEO, then I think you're better off targeting those keywords on different pages. For example, target "fairy costumes" on a fairy costumes page...rather than your homepage.

From my experience, internal anchor links don't correlate well with search rankings. For that reason, I think you should use the anchor text that is best for your user. If that also happens to help your SEO then great. If not, then I wouldn't worry about it.

The footer links serve no SEO value if you already link to those pages. If you link to the same page multiple times, then Google will generally just use your first anchor text.

Please see answers in Bold.
- is the bottom content ok? please scroll down all the way. --- **The content is good. It should help your homepage rank for a lot of long tail keywords, provided it's optimized for them. **
2) We used semantic keywords for 5-6 anchor interlinks to the same page to promote core products from the home page. Is this too much? - Anchor Texts to the same page won't help. If I were you, I would rather send 5-6 important links to the most important (different pages). Multiple links to the same page from your homepage won't help IMO.
3) We repeated footer path the same as the header fly window (same link, same word), is this over-optimized? If not, does it serve any SEO? -- I don't understand this part of your question.

Is it better to keep a glossary or terms on one page or break it up into multiple pages?
We have a very large glossary of over 1000 industry terms on our site with links to reference material, embedded video, etc. Is it better for SEO purposes to keep this on one page or should we break it up into multiple pages, a different page for each letter for example? Thanks.

Duplicate Page Titles
It seems as though we are being flagged for duplicate page titles when really they are slightly different. Is it better to remove the "dart board" or "dart board backboard" from all the product titles? We were doing this for optimal SEO - to rank for the search of "dart board" - but is it really hurting us? for example, our product titles are: Obama dart board backboard, Texas dart board backboard, Oklahoma dart board backboard, etc. Yet they are being flagged as duplicate titles.

Next on-page steps for an SEO newbie
Hi there! I'm new to Seomoz and am really pleased with the service so far. I've been doing some On-page optimizations and am gradually getting most of my pages to an A grade, but I wondered what the next steps would be? For example I have been looking at the search term "the shins fans". I have an A grade for my page (http://tastebuds.fm/artists/the+shins) but it lists on the 2nd page of SERPS for the term (in the UK at least). Can anyone recommend any tips for taking my page to the 1st page of SERPS? This site seems to do well: http://www.fanpop.com/spots/the-shins I am aware of the importance of link-building, but I'm specifically looking for tips on optimizing the page itself. Many Thanks, Alex

Domain Name and On-Page SEO
Where are the best places to put your Domain name in On-Page SEO? My domain name ends in .net so I would like to put it as many places as possible to brand the .net . On the analysis page I have found out that it is not a good idea to put it in the title page...but that is what the SEO guy I hired told me to do. Thanks, Utah Tiger

How to fix duplicate page content and page titles?
Apologies in advance if this has already been answered (it probably has) - I'm just not seeing it. Is there a guide on here for how to fix the issues brought up by the crawler - specifically, things like duplicate page content, or duplicate page titles? A lot of these seem to have been created by wordpress.org combos that I didn't anticipate - i.e., category pages, author pages, etc. The crawler brings up the problems, but I don' t know where to start to go about fixing them. Also, any guide on best SEO practices or fixing optimization problems, specifically for wordpress.org blogs, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Home page duplicated content issue
Hi there! The home page of my site can be seen under www.mysitename.com and www.mysitename.com/EN/ or www.mysitename.com/ES/ (depending on your language). I understand that this is duplicated content because they show the same content under different URLs. To solve this we've done (depending on your language) a 301 redirect from www.mysitename.com to www.mysitename.com/EN/ or www.mysitename.com/ES/ Is this correct? Thanks!
