301 in place, still many 404 in GWT. Why?
-
We have redesigned a website. The old site used to have lots of urls, the new sites has far less. We have pointed all old urls to the new urls with 301 redirects. This happened a couple of weeks ago. But we are still getting many 404 errors in Google Webmaster Tools.
What's the reason for this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Nicholas,
Thanks for taking the time to reply to our question.
- GWT hasn't re-crawled since 301 implementation
Has re-crawled several times.
- The 301ing URLs aren't all right
We will check this...
- You're 301ing to 404'ing URLs.
No we're not.

Ok

I would follow the urls that GWT say are bad. This will give you the answers. Also, for all bad urls, make sure you have GWT re-crawl them."Fetch as Googlebot" and "Submit to Index" under "Diagnostics"

Too Many on page links on my homepage question?
Question, on moz analytics, for my homepage, I've gotten the " Too many on page links" notification every crawl. I've always ignored it because i didnt think it affected ranking or anything really. The on page links on the bottom of our homepage are landing pages. Most users reach those pages by searching those specific pages on google. We just decided to put them on the bottom of our page for unknown reasons. My question is, should i remove the landing pages on the bottom of our homepage? WIll it improve search rankings for my homepage? if i do remove them, should i put the landing pages on another page besides the homepage? Does google index my website better without the on page links on my homepage? My website is- prestigeluxuryrentals.com

301 vs 302 redirect
Hello Mozers, I have a website which offers subscriptions on a monthly basis, when one profile expires the link of the profile gets a 301 redirect to the main category, just that if the member chooses to come back after a while he can reactivate the profile and the link will work again and the 301 will disappear, Should I be doing 302 redirect, as from this point of view it's only a temporarily redirect ? Thanks in advance

Dealing with a 404
Hi there, I have an error on one of my campaigns. It says that it gets a 404on this page: http://www.datasat.com/tetra/white-paper.htmlWEhjdAfgkh However, I cannot replicate the above URL as it doesn't exist on the site. The end of the URL has some spurious characters which I don't know how they got there. Has anyone any ideas about what's happening and how I can sort it? Many thanks

Dropping Old Site After Too Many Penalties. What Do You Think About the New One?
I finally decided to drop my website after it kept losing traffic even though I spent hundreds of hours and lots of $$$ trying to recover from both Panda and Penguin. I should've started a new website a lot earlier. So here's my new website, let me know if it's worthy of Big G: http://www.webhostinghero.com/ Thank you in advance for your constructive comments!

Navigation causing too many links
If I add pages to my site to cover major cities/towns/counties in the UK where I offer wedding bands and link them from the navigation using drop down menus/categories ( I believe this is the best option to allow users to find what they are looking for) I get a'too many links on page' flag. How can I best get around this problem?

Google found bad links delete them or 301 redirect?
we went into our google account and saw about 70 bad links that they found on our site. what's the best thing to do, seo-wise: should we go into the pages that have the bad links and delete them from the html code, or re-direct them in our htaccess script?
