Is Keyword Difficulty an absolute measure, or relative to my site?
-
We were able to rank very well for a specific keyword. After signing seomoz I've figured out that this keyword has a difficulty of 1%. All the other similar keywords I've researched have difficulties greater than 20%.
Is the Difficulty related to my site? Or is it absolute?
-
Sounds like that keyword is just very specific and there won't be much competition for it.
-
Thanks, but these keywords ("concurso tst 2012") have 1% for more than a week today.
-
Sometimes the keyword difficulty report omits some data. I would try again tomorrow and you might see different results.
-
Thanks a lot.
But, why this keywords are so easy still a mystery to me. Is there any reason for a keyword that has some competition around it to have a 1% difficulty?
-
It is absolute and has nothing to do with your site.
And, because it is absolute, some sites will be able to achieve top rankings by simply adding a page that is optimized for that keyword and linking to it... but that same page placed on your site might not rank in the top 50 positions. And that happens because their domain is stronger than yours or even if it has a lot of related content and you do not.

How to use the Basic SERP to figure out what keywords to target
I'm looking at the SERP report trying to figure out what keywords I should try to rank for and I am having difficulty understanding if I could be competitive in the space. For example I have a new website that has a PA1 and DA1 rank I plan on developing great content and then working on securing quality backlinks for that content. In order to start this process I'm doing my keyword research and I am finding keywords, both short and longtail that I would like to target via Google Keyword Planner. I'm punching them in to see the competition and SERP. This is where I fall short. How do I use this information to identify or rule out what to pursue. I guess I am looking for some criteria or guide to help me begin to figure out or filter out what is the best keyword to pursue that will give me the best odds of success. If anyone can help me I would be eternally greatfull. We are a small company (startup) and it is up to me to make this work. YES - I have read everything that I can find - guides, and I have not run accross an answer. Thanks in advance

Can I export data from Keyword Difficulty on several keywords?
I know that you can export data from the tool when only analyzing one keyword. But can you also export Keyword Difficulty Score when there are multiple keywords? For example, like this: http://pro.moz.com/tools/keyword-difficulty/results.html?utf8=%E2%9C%93&keywords=SEO%0D%0As%C3%B8gemaskineoptimering%0D%0A&engine_id=112&commit=Run+Report Looking forward to your answer! 🙂

Branded Keywords: Should I Monitor My Products' Names?
I am setting up my keywords' tags and brand rules. Is there any reason not to consider my products' names as "branded keywords". For instance, if my brand is HealthNut and I have products (that people talk about by name), such as GreenGiant Juice, should I create a brand rule for "GreenGiant Juice"? Granted, most of the time, customers will be searching for "HealthNut GreenGiant Juice", but there must be at least a minority who would search directly for the product itself without using the brand name. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

What's up with Yahoo and Bing in my keyword rankings?
SEOmoz is good I've learned a lot from it. I'm on my 3rd month and now have 8 keywords in top 50 for one site and 1 keyword in top 50 for another. This is for Google US. For Bing and Yahoo! US however I am still not in the top 50 for anything. I have read elsewhere that meta-tag page words can be regarded by these engines as a spam signal. In my meta I have used competative keywords that are relevant to my content, some of which are in the body, but are not my actual targeted keywords as a red-herring to potential competitors. Also might be usefull for other smaller places that still use meta-tags. Could not appearing in BingHoo! have something to do with their alogrithms and the meta-tags? or is it an SEOmoz issue? I have another question also. The " / " after a domain name doesn't appear in my Firefox address bar (I think I did a 301 redirect), but when I copy and paste it into an entry box (e.g. for a link submission) it puts the " / " there at the end which I take off. Does this make any difference?

Where is the best place to add links on my site?
If I'd like to put links to other sites in my site, is it better to have a page named "Our Helpful Links" etc. instead of just adding them to the bottom of an existing page like I've seen on some sites? I'm asking because I'm wanting to make Google as happy as possible and still add them. Just in case it helps to look at the site yourself to give advise its; http://www.allstatetransmission.net If you see anything else there that I should work on feel free to be hard on it, I value any criticism. Thanks, Jeff
