How to deal with competition with a similar domain name as my client website?
-
How can I deal with other websites that have a keyword domain name similar to my client website?
I get a few domains similar to my client domain name just to avoid the same issue, but there are a few others ranking for the same keywords and I don't want posible customers get confused with a similar domain name.
I have social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linked in and etc), but they are not ranking on the first page.
This is the situation:
www.domain.com that would be my client's domain.
And the competition:
And a few more.
At this time my client is ranking #1 position, but all the others ar 1 or 2 positions bellow.

Amazing answer, I think is a good idea implement Phase 2. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much, I appreciate your help on this!

You probably want a two-phased approach.
Phase 1 - Keep domain.com ranking number one for the keywords you care about. Keep an eye for competition creep through these similar-named domains.
Phase 2 - Start pushing these other domains hot on your heels down the SERP by optimizing some of your other domains, sub-domains, blogs, social media or other web properties that will earn you more real estate on the SERP. For example, if you search iPod, Apple owns the top 4 results pointing to different pages on apple.com. This can be tricky to essentially compete with yourself on multiple pages for the same keyword, but it is the best way to push down your competition and appear as the undisputed expert.

Its great to know that your client has domain.com. Excellent.
However, almost everyone with that type of domain faces competitors who have domain.net and bestdomain.com and an unlimited number of other variants.
The best thing for you to do is to keep working hard on the client's site to be sure that these other domains stay below you.
If your client owns domain.com that makes him "The Man". Use that to full advantage.

Planning to transition to a new website domain - should I press pause on SEO initiatives?
Hello - my company is planning to transition to a new website domain sometime this year, probably about six months from now. Our current website does not currently get much organic traffic from unbranded search terms. I would really like to fix that by publishing lots of new blog posts and trying to get more backlinks. But with the website transition on the horizon, I'm wondering if I should hold off on posting new pages and getting backlinks for the time being. Then once the new website is live, I can start to ramp things up. What would you do in this situation? Also, does anyone know of any thorough guides or walk-throughs that cover all of the best practices (re: SEO) when migrating to a new website domain?

Domain Name Migation + HTTPS?
One of our clients is considering migrating their domain name _and _changing protocol (http to https), as well as changing hosting providers, at the same time. Is it fine to make the changes at the same time, or would you recommend 'phasing' the migration?

Links on My website
I am looking to create some more trust on my website by subscribing to BBB. I have heard that my site is penalized and loses "link juice" if I place the BBB logo link in my page footer on every page of my website. Does anyone know how much I am penalized? Should I only put it on my conversion pages and maybe my main 10 sub pages? My main goal is to assist in getting conversions but I don't want to do it at the expense of getting a penalty. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Boo

Multi domain redirect to single domain
Hello, all SEOers. Today, I would like to get some ideas about handling multiple domains. I have a client who bought numerous domains under purpose of prevent abuse of their brand name and at the same time for future uses. This client bought more than 100 domains. Some domains are paused, parked, lived and redirected to other site. I don't worry too much of parked domains and paused domains. However, what I am worrying is that there are about 40 different domains are now redirected to single domain and meta refresh was used for redirections. As far as I know, this can raise red flag for Google. I asked clients to clean up unnecessary domains, yet they want to keep them all. So now I have to figure out how to handle all domains which are redirect to single domain. So far, I came up with following ideas. 1. Build gateway page which shows lists of my client sites and redirect all domains to gateway page. 2. Implement robots.txt file to all different domains 3. Delete the redirects and leave it as parked domains. Could anyone can share other ideas in order to handling current status? Please people, share your ideas for me.
