2 Duplicate pages. One Showing "/"
-
In SEOMoz report I have 2 pages showing that are identical in name/URL apart from the fact that one ends with the / symbol and one doesnt'.
They are both showing as having too many on-page links. But one shows 106 links and the other shows 106.
In clients' admin section I can only find evidence of the page without the /.
I wonder if anyone could advise how best to move forward?

Thanks Joel,
I take your point about the small issues all adding up.
Thanks for the links to the implementation and taking the time to help.
Cheers,

I would either do a 301 redirect or a canonical command for your site.

Here are two links that give you directions on how to implement both tactics.
While this is a minor issue that by itself won't break your seo efforts. Combined with other small issues they can add up. On page SEO is some of the easiest to resolve but often ignored.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Mat.
I've reduced the number of links on the page I can access so I'll leave it at that.

Honestly, I would ignore it. SEOMoz reports these, but I have not seen them cause a problem in Google or Bing. Both engines are smart enough to know that they are the same content.

How do I fix duplicate page issue on Shopify with duplicate products because of collections.
I'm working with a new client with a site built on Shopify. Most of their products appear in four collections. This is creating a duplicate content challenge for us. Can anyone suggest specific code to add to resolve this problem. I'm also interested in other ideas solutions, such as "don't use collections" if that's the best approach. I appreciate your insights. Thank you!

Recommended Length for a Companies "Services" Page Content
I am in the process of revamping my company's website. I do WordPress Development, Design, and SEO consulting, and i'm running into a sort of writer's block when wring my services pages. For example, my page on WordPress Security has 388 words of "body" content, and I feel from a content perspective, it serves it's purpose, but from an SEO perspective it is considered a little light. I really don't know what the SOP is here, because, I've literally seen competitors sites have a page on "WordPress Security" rank on the first page of Google with absolutely no content, an empty page. I see a lot of the Moz posts are huge, thosands of words, and I know they perform very well (and they also have ton's of links / PR...etc) and I just want to do the right thing. I know sites like http://www.seerinteractive.com/our-services/search-engine-optimization have relatively short info pages as well. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Will Google handle "this not that" pages differently?
If you create pages about "try keyword1 not keyword2" will there be any barriers to getting the pages ranked for keyword2? Example: You have furnished rental units in a small town, and you offer nightly/weekly rentals. You want to rank for "town hotel" since you offer the same service as a hotel. Since you're not really a hotel, you create a page called "Better than a hotel: Town nightly rental units". Anyone know if Google has an algorithm to detect this (they would have to detect the meaning of the words you were using and know that you were promoting something other than a hotel) and determine you're not really relevant to "town hotel" and not rank you well? I think they probably do not, as I've seen things like Google Adsense Alternatives articles ranking well for the term Google Adsense, or Boycott Godaddy sites ranking well for the term godaddy. But I would like to hear any evidence or facts others know of.

How do I get other pages to show in SERPs
Why is it that when you google a domain like yahoo.com you sometimes get a main SERP and 6 sub SERPs below it. This concerns the 1st position.

Duplicate content issues with products page 1,2,3 and so on
Hi, we have this products page, for example of a landing page:
On-Page Optimization | | Essentia
http://www.redwrappings.com.au/australian-made/gift-ideas and then we have the link to page 2,3,4 and so on:
http://www.redwrappings.com.au/products.php?c=australian-made&p=2
http://www.redwrappings.com.au/products.php?c=australian-made&p=3 In SEOmoz, they are recognized as duplicate page contents.
What would be the best way to solve this problem? One easy way i can think of is to nominate the first landing page to be the 'master' page (http://www.redwrappings.com.au/australian-made/gift-ideas), and add canonical meta links on page 2,3 and so on. Any other suggestions? Thanks 🙂0 -
Several short articles, or one long one?
This may be a very basic question... In terms of the overall benefit to the SEO of a website, is it better to have, say, 4 pages about different aspects of the same subject (i.e. wooden lintels, steel lintels, concrete lintels and cavity lintels) or to have one page containing all the information? I have a site with roughly 250 pages, which could probably condense down to almost half that. The vast majority of inbound links point to either the homepage or one of the 20-odd most vistited pages. Of those, 2 or 3 pages count for roughly 70% of entrances. So should I concentrate on adding new pages, or improving/expanding the existing pages?
