Guest Blogging Questions
-
Hi a few questions,
1. Is a anchor link in the body better then in the byline?
2. If 2 links are in the body will Google only count the first link?
3. Do you need a unique byline for each guest post, will having duplicate bylines not work as well as unique?
Cheers

I Agree with Keri that your posts should be high quality and focused to provide information to user instead of getting a link from the desired anchor text!
-
Keep in mind that the people who approve guest blogs may not accept a post that starts out with "While I was sitting in my payday loan shop in Los Angeles I got to thinking about how wallpaper influences the mood of a living room". However you write your post, you want to do it so that it makes sense in the context of the post and doesn't scream "hey, I wrote this post solely to get a link".

Increasing your own social value though Guest Blogging is possible but it’s sounds like a BIG plan to me… you should write for known industry blogs and be active on social medias, build new connections, share others stuff and slowly and gradually you will see your social value will increase… (obviously if you want to stay natural while increasing your social value.)
-
So your using it for driving traffic (relevant visits)?
I was thinking of using it for driving social signals, which in turn help SERPs.
Picking blogs which have lots of social following and social sharing of the articles and pushing them through to my own blog in the hope they share there as well.
Ever done anything like this before? Using guest blogging to help your own social signals?

I do agree with Neil to a higher extent but as far as the SEO bubble is concern there are few countable blogs I know that offer byline at the top…and to be really honest the DA of the domains are not really impressive (in most cases not all)
Guest Blogging words well for me because the KPIs were different for me… I am compiling a detailed post that will be live in the next week that features everything that Guest Blogging offer… it really depends what you are looking for from your Guest Blogging activity…
If SERP rankings are your ultimate concern… I believe targeting the good blogs and write solid posts can really help you achieve your target.

My anchor text link is in the byline.
Structure as follows:
Title of post
Article Content
Byline (containing anchor text link)
Sometimes the blog owner allows 2 links, so I structure like this:
Title of post
Article Content (containing anchor text link)
Byline (containing a brand name link)
But most of the time it's only 1 link, so Neil Patel is saying this is best:
Byline (containing anchor text link)
Title of post
Article Content
-
If you have your byline on top and your anchor text link will point to the same page, Google will count your byline and not your anchor text link which is not ideal.

Thanks,
I have been reading lots on the subject, especially this post by Neil Patel, he runs kissmetrics and crazyegg both are great tools so im guessing he knows what he is talking about.
http://www.quicksprout.com/2012/04/02/how-to-build-links-through-guest-blogging/
He does mention the further up the link the more juice is passed, so if the blog has the byline at the top, this is a lot better then the bottom?
@Moosa How well does guest blogging work for you? Do you think of it as your best method?
Cheers

Ok it seems like you are looking Guest Posting from the link angle only…
- 1. Anchor in Body is better than Byline
This is true but not only because of the juice transfer ratio but because of the fact that guest posts are read by real people so while reading there are more chances that they will go though that link as well and might consider linking to it… so in a way there are chances to convert that one link in to multiple….
- 2. 2 Links in the same URL?
Yes Google will count the 1st one if Blog Post will target 2 links point the same URL.
- 3. Duplicate Byline
Honestly I have used the duplicate bylines and I personally don’t think it has a significant impact on links that are pointing out to your desired location… link juice will still be passed!
-
Hi,
1. An Anchor text is better than a byline
2. If the 2 links are pointing to the same page, yes only one counts, the first one.
3. Duplicate byline will not help if they point to the same page.

Beginners question about co-location/citation
Hi, could any fellow users lend me their experience please, I feel I may have confused myself!! Cut a long story short, one of the seo techniques I (like many here) employ is guest authority for sites. This is done through a manual process on quality sites. However, many sites are panicking now about Google and are nofollowing the author link back to my site. While the guest blogging wasn't done exclusively for links, a backlink is always nice. This got me onto the topic of co citation. From what I understand, it is essentially google rewarding you but without giving you back link credit. This is no the area where I have confused myself...am i right in thinking that if my brand is talked about in content on a quality site about Internet Security, then google can see the mention of my brand and will still award me some benefit from. To gain said benefit from the content is it enough that my brand is mentioned, for example 'Brand X published a paper about keeping kids safe online in 2013' or would the brand x thing need to be an active link to my site (no follow). Does this make sense? I did warn that i have managed to confuse myself hehe Many thanks for firstly talking the time to work out what on earth I have written and for any feedback offered.

Will this Blog Tool hurt our SEO
Hi, We have come across this tool that we are considering using for some of our blog posts. We will still continue posting our own post blogs weekly, we will just use this if we come across anything interesting. Our concern is it will produce duplicate content from other sites. We are very new to blogging. https://home.passle.net/ Will this hurt our SEO? Will it improve it? Or will it make no difference? All thoughts welcomed please. Thanks Andrew

Can personal name anchors from blog commenting be a risk?
Hello, I've created a new site early this year. In an effort to stay on Googles good side I decided not to do any link building. Everything you create yourself is pretty much frowned upon by Google, right? I have been doing a fair bit of blog commenting where that would add value. As a result my link profile shows about 50% anchors with my name in it. Can this be dangerous? Thanks!

Should I invite people to guest post?
I'm a little confused about the benefits of inviting people to guest post on my site. I've just read http://www.seomoz.org/blog/using-passive-link-building-to-build-links-with-no-budget which suggests that by inviting people to guest post on my site I can build a relationship with them and eventually ask them to post a guest post of mine on their site. If both posts have a link back to the owners site doesn't this amount to reciprocal linking? Or am I missing something? Is a reciprocal link only classed as such if the link points to the exact page where the article is or can a reciprocal link point to anywhere on the site and still be classed as reciprocal?

Finding Writers for Guest Posting?
Having the toughest time finding writers. I've been pretty successful building links via guest posting, but the problem is I'm writing all the articles. It's seriously draining - and not scalable the way I'm doing. That said - anyone have tips on how to find high quality writers? I'm fine paying $50-$100 per article as long as it's great. Help?

SEO Submission Service or Ads on Blogs?
1. Can anyone recommend a good SEO Submission Service? Or do you not recommend using them? 2. What do you think is a better way to build links? Directory listings or place ads on blog sites? Each post a blogger post would have the ad link. Thoughts?

Ranking above Auth domains question?
Hi, How difficult would it be to rank a new page above the likes of Wiki, About, Squidoo etc? I have a keyword I would like rank but most of the domains on first page are the likes of the above, wiki, about, squidoo etc. The pages themselves dont have a high Page Auth its just the root domain. Will it still be very hard to rank above these types of sites? Cheers

Do links to blog.domainname.com help the www.domainname.com subdomain?
Hi, Do links to pages within the blog.domainname.com subdomain help the rankings of pages within the main www.domainname.com subdomain? (where "domainname" is the same of course). Thanks.
