Does the page authority matter if the main domain is A high PR??
-
Hi Guys,
Some advice and help here would be great please!
I have a web agency that has been building some links for our website, the web agency have built some links that have a page rank of 7 on the domain itself, but the our link is on the inner pages of that domain..
So I guess what I am asking is does is matter or can it still help if our links are on the inner pages of the hight pr domain and not on the homepage??
Thanks
Gareth

There is too much to detail out in a Q&A response, even for me (poking fun at my lengthy responses).
I plan for that to be a blog article I will publish in July.

Thanks Ryan,
Have you any tips on earning the links ??

It definitely matters. An inner page will likely have less PR then the home page and therefore be of less value.
Be VERY careful in allowing a "web agency" to build links on your behalf. Many sites have been penalized for manipulative links in the first two iterations of Penguin. I suspect many more sites will be penalized in the future. I would recommend you to stop "building" links and start earning them.

Extreme high number of pages found on webshop
Hi, Im working for the first time on a magento webshop. But i run into a problem where crawlers find then thousands of pages while there are a few hunderd products. I expect is has something to do with filters that generate dynamic URL's. I can't find any setting in Magento to prevent this and i think this will hurt SEO performance because of duplicate content and high amount of pages that need to be crawled while the site has no authority. What would my approach be to solve this? Do i need to ad certain tags to the pages or are these settings in my robots file.

Search Console Indexed Page Count vs Site:Search Operator page count
We launched a new site and Google Search Console is showing 39 pages have been indexed. When I perform a Site:myurl.com search I see over 100 pages that appear to be indexed. Which is correct and why is there a discrepancy? Also, Search Console Page Index count started at 39 pages on 5/21 and has not increased even though we have hundreds of pages to index. But I do see more results each week from Site:psglearning.com My site is https://wwww.psglearning.com

Why would my page authority be staying low whilst my domain authority is increasing?
The authority of my key pages is staying resolutely at 1 even as I've improved my domain authority from 16 to 25 over the last month

Google showing https:// page in search results but directing to http:// page
We're a bit confused as to why Google shows a secure page https:// URL in the results for some of our pages. This includes our homepage. But when you click through it isn't taking you to the https:// page, just the normal unsecured page. This isn't happening for all of our results, most of our deeper content results are not showing as https://. I thought this might have something to do with Google conducting searches behind secure pages now, but this problem doesn't seem to affect other sites and our competitors. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how we get around it?

Can you noindex a page, but still index an image on that page?
If a blog is centered around visual images, and we have specific pages with high quality content that we plan to index and drive our traffic, but we have many pages with our images...what is the best way to go about getting these images indexed? We want to noindex all the pages with just images because they are thin content... Can you noindex, follow a page, but still index the images on that page? Please explain how to go about this concept.....

Redirecting root domain to a page based on user login
We have our main URL redirecting non-logged in users to a specific page and logged in users are directed to their dashboard when going to the main URL. We find this to be the most user-friendly, however, this is all being picked up as a 302 redirect. I am trying to advise on the ideal way to accomplish this, but I am not having much luck in my search for information. I believe we are going to put a true homepage at the root domain and simply redirect logged in users as usual when they hit the URL, but I'm still concerned this will cause issues with Google and other search engines. Anyone have experience with domains that need to work in this manner? Thank you! Anna

50,000 pages or a page with parameters
I have a site with about 12k pages on a topic... each of these pages could use another several pages to go into deeper detail about the topic. So, I am wondering, for SEO purposes would it be better to have something like 50,000 new pages for each sub topic or have one page that I would pass parameters to and the page would be built on the fly in code behind. The drawback to the one page with parameters is that the URL would be static but the effort to implement would be minimal. I am also not sure how google would index a single page with parameters. The drawback to the 50k pages model is the dev effort and possibly committed some faux pas by unleashing so many links to my internal pages. I might also have to mix aspx with html because my project can't be that large. Anyone here ever have this sort of choice to make? Is there a third way I am not considering?

Can I do a redirect to a new domain name only a couple of weeks after having redirected to another domain?
I have a client with two website with very similar content. Both had a lot of inbound links and performed fairly well in SERPS. We recently combined both sites and have redirected one of the domains to the other. The traffic dipped slightly initially, but is recovering nicely. Now the client registered a new domain name he would like to use for the site. Should I wait a few weeks for everything to settle down after the first redirect/consolidation of sites before doing a new redirect to a new domain name, or should I not worry about having any issues with doing it right away?
