Bing beats google to disavow links
-
You can now disavow bad links in Bing WMT, google has stated they will be doing the same, this should shake up the rankings when many sites get penalties lifted
-
Yes, this would be a good way for webmasters to confess that they have purchased links and turn off their value. If that is what Bing wanted this tool to be used for they should say that explicitly.
Instead they say.....
Use the Disavow Links tool to submit page, directory, or domain URLs that may contain links to your site that seem "unnatural" or appear to be from spam or low quality sites.
.... which has a very different meaning to me.
Bing is full of BS.
They can't do their job on links and they can't communicate.
-
I think the idea is paid links, if you have a clint that has been naughty, then this is good idea, i am waiting for googles version the said they were going to bring out soon, as i have a clint with a un-natrual link penalty
-
I am not going to spend a single minute of time on this. Not one minute.
Links happen, right? So how can you protect yourself from malicious link building? How do you tell the engine you just don't want to associate your content with "that" site?
Busy sites will have thousands to millions of links that were created by spammers and garbage site builders such as updowner.
Bing is making this because they can't do their job.
-
I just look at them, its not hard to tell. If in doubt and the site has not much PageRank then you have not much to lose.

What tools do you use to determine which links you will be disavowing?

SEO Guidelines for Partner Links
We decided to follow an aggressive strategy with cross linking. We have cross linked all all the 6 different brands just above the header of a News Portal. You could see what i mean here www.in.gr
Industry News | | DOLdatacenter
Do you think that i should enable the nofollow so as not to get penalized by Google. We tend to use the same cross network linking scheme (in the header) for all branded sites. Google’s guidance on link schemes doesn’t specifically address these types of partner links, which don’t really fit the mold for “excessive link exchanging.” Thoughts appreciated.0 -
Did Google Search Just Get Crazy Local?
Hey All, I think it's a known fact at this point that when signed into a personal Google account while doing a search, the results are very oriented around keywords and phrases you have already searched for, as well as your account's perceived location; for instance when I wanted to check one of my own web properties in SE listings I would sign out or it would likely appear first as a false reading. Today I noticed something very interesting: even when not signed in, Google's listings were giving precedence to locality. It was to a very extreme degree, as in when searching for "web design," a firm a mile away ranked higher than one 1.5 miles away and such. It would seem that the algos having this high a level of location sensitivity and preference would actually be a boon for the little guys, which is, I assume why it was implemented. However, it brings up a couple of interesting questions for me. 1. How is this going to affect Moz (or any SE ranking platform, for that matter) reports? I assume that Google pulls locations from IP Addresses, therefore would it not simply pull the local results most relevant for the Moz server(s) IP? 2. What can one do to rise above this aggressive level of location based search? I mean, my site (which has a DA of 37 and a PA of 48) appears above sites like webdesign.org (DA of 82, PA of 85). Not that I'm complaining at the moment, but I could see this being a fairly big deal for larger firms looking to rank on a national level. What gives? I'd love to get some opinions from the community here if anyone else has noticed this...

Has anybody used Yext or Universal Business Listings as an automated approach to getting clients into all of the many directories? If so does it work? Or does Google penalize in using these automated services?
I'm trying to figure out if using either Yext or Universal Business Listings is worth it. They have reseller programs for SEO agencies. I just am curious what other SEO folks think of these services as I'm considering using one of them to automate and save time for clients. If you go to Yext.com or universalbusinesslistings.org you can see these. Curious what others say about these. Thanks

Get Google To Crawl More Pages Faster on my Site
We opened our database of about 10 million businesses to be crawled by Google. Since Wednesday, Google has crawled and indexed about 2,000 pages. Google is crawling us at about 1,000 pages a day now. We need to substantially increase this amount. Is it possible to get Google to crawl our sites at a quicker rate?

What is triggering Google account suspensions?
Over the past 24 hours many of our clients have had their Google accounts suspended. The explanation has been: "After reviewing your profile, we determined that it has been used to impersonate another individual or mislead other users. This violates the Google+ User Content and Conduct Policy." We are NOT impersonating our clients, we have their permission. We are not misleading anyone, simply setting up profiles for our clients on Google+. This has not affected all of our clients, but a significant number of them. We cannot find a common variable between the clients that have been suspended, and those who have not. Some have had other Google+ profiles in the past, in another account, some have not. Some have been previously verified via SMS, others by phone. Some have posts in their profile, others have only the profile info filled out. Again, we are not trying to game Google, we are simply setting up authorship for them, with their permission. I have not seen much in the SEO community about this today, and this is NOT related to fake reviews. We do not partake in that kind of activity. We have written a post on the topic, and no matter how this shakes out, I think our take is solid. Authorship is changing the game, content is changing the game, trust is changing the game… and Google is getting serious about it. We have also seen this happen to our clients, to our competitors' clients, and to other marketing firms' clients, outside of our vertical. Does anyone know more about the topic, especially in regards to the suspensions over the past 24 hours?

Concerned about where links are coming from
Hi I am hoping someone can help me with this. I run a small seo company for a few select companies in the luxury markets. Due to certain circumstances I need to outsource a lot of link building until my in house link builders can return to work. After a phone conversation with an SEO company which offer white label service (quite a large UK company but will remain nameless) I became extremely concerned that they are supply paid links to there customers. I will explain what i mean and would appreciate advice on whether I should stay clear or not. They claim to have access to over 1000 websites in many different niches and can get a whole host of links from contextual (which they said would give 3 links in 300 words which rang the first alarm bell) then said the other come from primary theme links and hybrid links (oh which neither they would properly explain what they are). My main concern is they said the links are made and need to be "maintained" by a yearly fee so they are not removed. When I asked if they surely count as paid links I got a usual boiler room style sales pitch. My instincts tell me to stay away but maybe I am just reading it all wrong. They claim to already white label to over 300 other SEO companies, but it all sounds a bit risky to me after Googles tough stance on this! Thanks Paul

Two Industry giant has occupied the Google SE First Page.
I have seen just two websites on Google SE first page one with 4 and second one is with 6 internal pages on Coupon related question/niche . What it means Is this a Google Dance or temporary fluctuation. ? Why Google don't consider other sites to show on first page? Many pages from askvila.amazon, yahoo answers and facebook pages are shown on second and third pages.? Is this meant that there are a lack of quality websites/pages for this industry or query? What do you say? Here is the SERPs from Google US.(as on July 09) http://bitly.com/Md8JFW http://bitly.com/LaT9yD Thanks Alex
