Half Implemented HTML 5 Structure

Hi there,

I have just notced on a website that it has a halt implemented html 5 structure. Well, when I say half implemented, it has the doctype and then one

<header>section. After that all of the divs are custom ones that have been added for the CSS.

Could this lack of structure have a negative effect on the site?

Hi Edward,

I currently have the same situation where "half" of our site is html 5 and the other is still using div's and such. The html 5 tag's have been slowly being added to the site for about 3 months now and we have seen no negative impact because each version of the code is still considered valid. The only thing you may want to look out for is making sure that your site renders properly in older browsers.

Help to decide of domain move reversal after 5 months!

Hello, first sorry for my bad english,it isn't my first lanugage.
I have a website with 13 years of history and activity. 5 Months ago we received an warning message from our domain provider which would seize our domain because of sanctions (i live in Iran), and they have seized many of iranian domains since then, therefore i have decided to quickly change my domain to another address so i could save my website as much as possible before they take out my domain...
I have moved my website successfully to a new domain address and have done everything necessary for a good domain move (301 all links, change template and...) I have also used the "Change of Address Tool" provided in google search console so google knows my new domain address and change all of my links...
Unfortunately 90% of my traffics comes from google, therefore we are hevaily depending on organic traffic.
Since i have changed my domain address my traffic has been declining, and now i have only 30% of the traffic input left from google compared to my old domain 5 months ago. (i had recently some SEO troubles too which could effect this decline even more)
Fortunately my old domain wasn't seized by the domain provider and i have successfully transfered it to another provide recently so there is no danger for my old domain anymore.
My question is, should i move my website back to my old domain (cancel the google "Change of Address Tool" and use it again to move the new domain back to the old domain)? My old domain has more than 13 Years of history,has many backlinks within this 13years, and till now, i cannot get good rankings with new posts on the new domain, sometimes google even does not index my new articles several days, but my old domain ranks still well (i have tested a new article on the old domain to see how it performs and it was not very good, but i think it ranks still better than my new domain).
My top pages and categories has been redirected successful and are still ranking well on google on the new domain address and hasn't been affected negativly, my main problem are new posts that are not ranking well o even does not get indexed for several days!
I don't know what to do now, are 5months not enough for google to completly transfer all domain scores from my old domain to the new one? Will all scores of my old domain even transfer to my old domain eventually? How about the many Backlinks i have pointed to the old domain? (which 90% i cannot change or ask to change to my new address) Will the backlinks scores pointing to the old domain transfer to the new domain?In other hand i fear to move my site back to the old domain because i don't know how google would behave, would all my seo score and rankings come back after i move back to the old domain? Also as far as i know, after 6months of using the google "Change of Address Tool" i cannot cancle the domain change anymore, therefore i have roughly 1 month to decide to cancle the move or not...
Please if anyone could help or guide me what to do it would be life saving for me, because my whole income and my family depends on my website... 😞

Some questions about URL structure and multi country website

I have a question from SEO experts and web developers.
I want to setup a job website for 5 countries. for each country i will provide daily jobs listing on the basis of
1. jobs by categories - for example : accounting jobs. IT jobs, Sales jobs
2. jobs by city - for example : jobs in boston, jobs in chicago
3. jobs by companies for example : jobs in facebook, jobs in emirates case :
a company name " emirates " located in "boston" having vacancy of "accounting job " having position of full time this case job will be present in following categories . 1. accounting jobs in boston
2. jobs in boston
3. jobs in emirates and open any above option there will be filter box on left side showing
position i.e full time
salary i.e 1000-1500
location i.e boston,chicago Q.1
i want to know when user search on google these terms "accounting jobs in boston " or "jobs in boston" or "jobs in emirates" same job will display which url structure is recommended in for each search term? Q.2 how we can do on page SEO for these terms because jobs listing will be changing daily because of new jobs addition and content is changing not Q.3 should i create website on separate domains for each country or same domain but with different folders in it
.co.uk or com/uk for UK and .ae OR .com/uae for UAE Note : i will also attach blog on it and each blog will focus on specific country knowledge for example for USA , how to find jobs in new york and for UAE how to find jobs in Dubai etc . Thanks in Advance

Alternatives 301? Issues redirection of index.html page with Adobe Business Catalyst

Hi Moz community, As for now we have two different versions of a client's homepage that’s dividing our traffic. One of the urls is the index.html version of the other url. We are using Adobe Business Catalyst for one of our clients and they told us they can’t 301 redirect. Adobe Business Catalyst does 301 redirects, but not to itself like an .htaccess rewrite. Doing a 301 redirect using BC from index.html to / creates an infinite loop and break the page. Are there alternatives to a 301 or any suggestions how to solve this? Sitemaps, 404s and URL structure

Hi All! I recently acquired a client and noticed in Search Console over 1300 404s, all starting around late October this year. What's strange is that I can access the pages that are 404ing by cutting and pasting the URLs and via inbound links from other sites. I suspect the issue might have something to do with Sitemaps. The site has 5 Sitemaps, generated by the Yoast plugin. 2 Sitemaps seem to be working (pages being indexed), 3 Sitemaps seem to be not working (pages have warnings, errors and nothing shows up as indexed). The pages listed in the 3 broken sitemaps seem to be the same pages giving 404 errors. I'm wondering if auto URL structure might be the culprit here. For example, one sitemap that works is called newsletter-sitemap.xml, all the URLs listed follow the structure: http://example.com/newsletter/post-title Whereas, one sitemap that doesn't work is called culture-event-sitemap.xml. Here the URLs underneath follow the structure http://example.com/post-title. Could it be that these URLs are not being crawled / found because they don't follow the structure http://example.com/culture-event/post-title? If not, any other ideas? Why HTML entities gets crawled as content keywords in Google search console?

My Google search console shows HTML parameters such as div, class, img, src, gif, align as content keywords, but why google crawls HTML parameters as keywords? because of this, I would be losing traffic for my on-page content keywords. Please let me know how to solve this. Thanks, Jenifer

Directory URL structure last / in the url

Ok, So my site's urls works like this www.site.com/widgets/ If you go to www.site.com/widgets (without the last / ) you get a 404. My site did no used to require the last / to load the page but it has over the last year and my rankings have dropped on those pages... But Yahoo and BING still indexes all my pages without the last / and it some how still loads the page if you go to it from yahoo or bing, but it looks like this in the address bar once you arrive from bing or yahoo. http://www.site.com/404.asp?404;http://site.com:80/widgets/ How do I fix this? Should'nt all the engines see those pages the same way with the last / included? What is the best structure for SEO?
