Recommend a good way to audit outbound links
-
So maybe SEOmoz offers this but I am just having a brain fart today, but what is a good tool to audit all of the outbound links on a certain website? We have our main corporate owners interested in being better at linking to us and our properties. How can we find out who they are currently linking to in a simple excel spreadsheet format?

Xenu does work well. The option to see this, that I never had used before is "Export Page Map to Tab Seperated File". Looks exactly what I need.
Thanks!

You should complete a site crawl to identify outbound links. Xenu is a free option and you can filter to look at outbounds; Screaming Frog will present a single report of out links.

I'll try that, but I didn't think that was for outbound but inbound only.

If you want all linking URLs, you can go to Tools and use Open Site Explorer.
Put in your link, around the middle, there is a "Download to CSV". It will download all the links for you and their authority.

301 Redirect for multiple links
I just relaunched my website and changed a permalink structure for several pages where only a subdirectory name changed. What 301 Redirect code do I use to redirect the following? I have dozens of these where I need to change just the directory name from "urban-living" to "urban", and want it to catch the following all in one redirect command. Here is an example of the structure that needs to change. Old

Using Google Adwords is good?
I heard about that if you using adwords, google drops your ranking a little bit. Because of you already pay money for results. I think that is reasonable.

Quality links are beneficial, but are neutral links detrimental?
So obviously a link profile featuring quality / authoritative / relavant in-bound links is preferable, but here's my question: If I'm starting work on a brand new domain, should I build links that one would consider neutral (i.e. from a non-spammy, but unrelated site) or should I not bother and only focus on quality links? Thanks

Cross links between sites
hi, We have several ecommerce sites and we cross linked 3 of them by mistake. We realize that the sites were linked through WMT, We have shut down 2 of the sites about 2 months ago, but WMT still shows the links coming from those 2 sites. how do we make sure that google will see the sites are shut down. Is there a better of way resolving this issue. We are no longer using those sites, so do not need them to be active. whats the best solution to show google that the links are no longer there. Crawler shows that it was able to crawl the site 45 days after it is shut down. thanks nick

Press release not giving me my link juice
The other day we released a press release, see it here http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20120717006087/en/Rapid7-Metasploit-Pro-Increases-Vulnerability-Management-Efficiency. I asked them to include two links (seen in the first paragraph) with targeted anchor text (vulnerability management and penetration testing). The press release was published and when I check the open site explorer to see if I got any link juice from the press release, I am not seeing the link...ugh I noticed that they are using some sort of tracking code that seems to be redirecting the link, is this the problem? I talked to our sales rep at businesswire and he told me that they could take the code off if that is what needs to be done. Do you have any insight into this or have you ever ran into this problem?

What loss of value would this link experience?
What loss of value would this link experience? If the link is actually a link to the from site that is 301'd to your site like this example below: i.e., www.domain.com/29834?=www.yourdomain.com My thought is that simply because you're going through a redirect (In this case a 301) you will lose slight value there. But I'd love to hear your thoughts and reasoning on any other affects if any (direct or indirect) you think it may have.
