Need to rebuild client's flash website
-
I am working with their web designer and need to figure out a way to rebuild their site which is currently all in flash. I was wondering if there was a way to do this without spending a ton of time in completely re-doing the site from scratch.

I'd honestly start with the assumption that you are building a new site, rather than changing the platform from the existing one. If you think that the current content is strong then keep that, but start afresh with the actual build.

Hi Mat,
We are wanting to switch Flash content to HTML mainly for user experience problems we are facing with the site. Long page load times as well as a high bounce rate with the site's url.

Flash professional does allow you to export flash content as HTML. If you have flash professional CS6+ and the original source files you can do this. There is a demo of how here: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs6-creative-cloud-feature-tour-for-web/exporting-flash-content-as-html-in-flash-professional-cs6/
Whether you would want to use the resulting HTML as your website is debatable. I wouldn't. I'd rather pay someone to rebuild a simple version of the site from scratch and at least know that the structure and on page set-up is all good.
What is the aim of switching? Flash websites are not great for most purposes, however neither are badly made HTML ones. If your aim is SEO success then I doubt that exporting from flash will help you much.

How does Google's AJAX Announcement Impact the likes of AngularJS?
Google's announcement last month about depreciating their AJAX crawl directive and Distilled's recent article have got me thinking a lot about how this change impacts frameworks like AngularJS. For those of you that use or are considering using frameworks like AngularJS, does this change impact you? Has it changed your mind about services like Prerender etc? All discussions relating to AJAX crawling welcome. What's the best way to structure original vs aggregated content
We're working on a news site that has a mix of news wires such as Reuters and original opinion articles. Currently the site is setup with /world /sports etc categories with the news wire content. Now we want to add the original opinion content. Would it be better to start a new top /Opinion category and then have sub-categories for each Opinion/world, Opinion/sports subject? Or would it be better to simply add an opinion sub-category under the existing news categories, ie /world/opinion? I know Google requests that original content be in a separate directory to be considered for inclusion in Google news. Which would be better for that? Regarding link building, if the opinion sub-categories were under the top news categories, would the link juice be passed more directly than if we had a separate Opinion top category?

Crawl Diagnostics, 57 5XX (Server Error)'s
Hi guys, My name is Rob, and I work at Burst! Creative Group in Vancouver BC. We are having issues with the 5XX(server Error)'s. We have 57 of them, and can't figure out why! We have never had this problem before, but have recently added a blog to our website, and figure that this addition may have caused some problems. I'm hoping that I can get some helpful information from you MOZers to eliminate these crawl errors. You can take a look at our website at www.burstcreativegroup.com . Thank you in advance for all of your input! Rob

Website design for non-coders
Hi All Anyone any experience with using Headway Themes for wordpress. How does it compare to Artisteer 3 for ease of use for a non-coder. Does "Headway Themes" really allow for the designing of sharp business wordpress websites for people with no coding skills as it claims. Thanks Peter

How do you visualize website structure
How do you visualize a website structure in terms of (categories of) pages and interlinking. I use such visuals for discussing what you are actually doing now and what can be improved. I have made visuals I few times myself (basically making boxes representing categories of pages and lines representing internal links), but I found that I soon ran into a scheme of huge proportions and needed more paper and more time. Appreciate your thoughts!
