Feedback on Link Removal Services
-
Hi Guys,
Not looking for a debate on whether or not to use link removal services (linkdelete.com, deletebacklinks.com etc), I'm just interested in hearing any feedback you may have after having used one.
What was your experience with the service?
Do you believe it helped you recover from a penalty?
Cheers.

Hi David,
Any update for us? I'm looking to outsource as well since time is just not worth it to most clients, or they are just reluctant.
-
I'm in contact with a site that is trialing one of these services, will do an update once I have an idea of the results.

Hi Broadbeach Media,
Nice to hear that people were recommending RMOOV - just a quick update - the free trial option is now Free Basic membership, which is 1 Campaign at a time. Some SEOmoz TAGFEE rubbed off!

Even I want to know the final view
Is it good to use them? Do you think Deleting links will create negative impact on google for trust and authority? If my site is already in penalty and I will delete few links, will they think that they have taken a right decision by removing us from top results? Well, lots of things coming in my mind!

I guess you didn't read my first sentence
I am fully aware of the irony paying to remove links from crappy sites that were paid to be placed. But again, just looking to see if anyone has any specific experience with such a service.
Why? Because when people approach me after being penalized for having a rubbish link profile and I can tell that they can't/won't pay for my time to manually undo the harm (quite time consuming I'm sure you're aware), it would be nice to be able offer them an alternative. If, however, those services are not legit, or up to scratch, of course I wouldn't send people their way.
Thx

Would people actually use those?
I would immediately dismiss them as being the parasitic version of directory-submissions-gurus.com in terms of trustworthyness

Thanks for the info.
In this case I'm more looking for feedback on outsourcing the entire process to a service such as linkdelete.
The reason is, when a small business with very limited budgets needs their link profile cleaned up, (and can't handle it in-house) the only cost efficient solution I can think of is to outsource it.
Cheers.

Hi David,
If there are way to many bad links to remove, it is probably a good choice to invest in a link removal service (can save time and money). I myself haven't had any need to use one, but recently at an SEO conference we were advised by specialists to use an online tool named RMOOV (http://www.rmoov.com/) which they recommended if you have some link cleaning to do. There is a free option as well to give it a shot with 1 campaign.
Regards

What is the best way to remove a link that redirects to a spammy site?
I've got a new client and I'm trying to clean up their backlinks. There are several links that all redirect to this spam site http://www.expert-lender.com. All of the websites appear to be real, i.e. http://www.sammorganhomes.com/ but the actual links i.e http://www.sammorganhomes.com/wp-fav/backup/supplement/semitruckleasing.html are in a sub-directory and redirect to the spam site. I don't know if these links were from the previous SEO company or if they paid someone to create these or if these sites have been hacked. Can anyone tell me what is going on here and what should I tell these site owners?

Any benefits to having Wikipedia links now they are 'no-followed' (apart from traffic and natural link prof.)
I see that Wikipedia outbound links are all no-followed, is there any benefit (aside from the traffic) for having links here now ? For example is their co-citation and co-occurance benefits. I know there is without the links since from seeing previous Moz content about this saying Google getting good at connecting brand/s and topic mentions on a page (without any links) so appreciate Wikipedia is still good for that sort of thing. And a no-followed link is obviously good for the potential traffic. But is there any additional SEO benefit to having a no followed link on a wikipedia entry/stub too ? (aside from its contribution to your no-followed links which in turn contribute to a natural looking link profile) Cheers Dan

Will removing a 301 re-direct from an old spammed URL drop the links from our profile?
Essentially there is an old page that has been the target of an old school link building agency. There is a 301 re-direct from the old page to the newer version. if I drop the 301 re-direct and update our sitemaps. Will those links be removed from our profile? The old URL passes nothing in actual value & a link building campaign has been running on the new page for over a year.

Which Links to Disavow!
We just took over SEO for a new client who is being penalized for a bad link profile. They've asked Google to reconsider multiple times, and Google still claims that the links are bad. Because of this, and because I don't have direct access (logins, etc.) to what the former SEO did, I am considering using the disavow links tool. The most obvious links to disavow are a group of almost 1000 links that come from the same forum. However, when viewing the links on this forum they actually seem natural. People are reviewing the product (ipod cases), both negatively and positively. While this could have been an SEO tactic for link building, I don't want to disavow these links if they're not the problem, even though this domain is the source of almost all the low-quality links. Another site that has more than 200 links is Askives. Do any of you have experience with links from Askives, or removing these links? Thanks again!

Pursuing Links on Sites You Have a Link From
Is it a bad idea to spend resources to get a second link from a site that already links to you? It seems like the marginal value of each additional link is much smaller than the first link.
